It really was a group effort with TJ.

His absolutely crazy Prefect Gambit gave me a good frame to work from because it theoretically covered two of the three cycles. I just really pushed for this to go our way.

I am still suprised that it worked.

It's been a looooong time since I have elimed. And usually, I'd be perfectly happy with that but I needed an elim game badly to see how I'd do before Champs, so I'm glad to have played the game! Now back to a very long village streak pls :P.

Thanks to my teammates for having lots of patience and bearing with me and I'm sorry for all the worry and anxiousness I caused, you guys were amazing just going along with it. I had loads of fun evil-ing with you :')

Well I think most of us hope that we dont have to Play against e!TJ anytime soon.

I too had very much evil-ing with you. And really without the worrying and anxioussness it wouldnt have been half the fun it was. Also our (your) startegy worked so no need to be sorry.

On another note, I am very happy and proud of myself that I managed to survive C1. (QF78 was really only because of the Newbie defense that I didnt get exed immediately.)

Now I am a bit Sad that I didnt manage to get much Roleplay with Leokadius in, I liked that charakter Quite a bit.

MR76 Aftermath: Fiendfyre

Ministry of Magic Building, Level Nine

“I wonder how many orbs there are.”
The troupe of Death Eater students skulked through the Hall of Prophecy. Their leader shushed them. “Pay attention to the labels. We need the one by Sybill Trelawney.”

Pali was pretending to fence with her wand. “I wanted to fight someone. Why’s it so empty?”
“The Ministry is busy shutting down Hogwarts. The messages you sent while polyjuiced as Dumbledore worked better than expected.”

Sitting atop the leader’s head, the Sorting Hat harrumphed.
Leokadius flicked its nose. “Why’d I have to steal this thing, anyway?”
“Because you let it read too much of your mind.”

Ahead of them, a boy with a red prefect badge waved them over. “Found it!”
“Don’t touch that, Forest!” The student in the Sorting Hat rushed to the shelf. “Only those the prophecy’s about can touch the orb.”
“Then how we gonna steal it?”
“Our Master will aid us.” The leader produced Ravenclaw's Diadem. “Part of him, anyway.”

He used the diadem to gently push the orb off of its pedestal. The mist inside swirled angrily.

"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches…

@Through the living Wahr, @Through the Living Ink, and @Frozen Mint were Death Eaters!

The elim team has won! To everyone who embraced the new format, who engaged with the setting, and who did their best to solve (some for the first time): thank you for playing! A special shoutout to my IM @A Jo in the Bush and to our pinch hitters who graciously stepped in. And congratulations to the elim team for a clean sweep!

One more thing...

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

The Death Eater students stood in the Hall of Prophecy, transfixed by the words of Sybill Trelawney as they poured from the orb.
Born to those who have thrice defied him…

Merlin’s crying, I’m the only thing that should be scrying!”
The Sorting Hat jumped from the leader’s head. It landed on the prophecy orb, sucking it into its pocket dimension.

“Give it back!” Pali poked the Hat. “Crucio!
The Hat convulsed, but refused to relent.
Crucio! Crucio!

“We’ve overused that spell,” snapped the leader. “We’ll have to burn it out. Pestis Incendium!”
A line of fire jumped from his wand. It coiled around the Hat, taking the form of a boa constrictor. The fiendfyre let out a high pitched hiss as it squeezed.

“THAT’S ENOUGH, CEADACH!”

Into the Hall stepped Severus Snape, flanked by Jarry and Siannain. The students carried boxes of scrolls and file folders.

“What are you doing here?” asked the littlest Leo.
“Dumbledore called it ‘correcting the record’,” Jarry said, making air quotes with his fingers. “I think we committed white collar crime! Are you guys evil?”

“You’ve done well, Ceadach,” Snape said, rolling up his sleeve to reveal a snake and skull tattoo. “I can take it from here, but I need the Hat intact.”
“So the rumors are true.” Ceadach flexed his matching tattoo. “But why are you running errands for Dumb-as-a-doorknob?”
“Just a pretense.”
“Then you won’t mind if I Avada Kedavra!” Siannain fell to the ground.

Without breaking eye contact with Ceadach, Snape pressed his wand to Jarry’s ribs. “Avada Kedavra. Give me the Hat.”

Jarry fell. The Sorting Hat screamed as the fiendfyre burnt its leather.

“Fine.” Ceadach ended the spell. “Just make sure we get proper credit for our contribution. In think I deserve extra, extra credit.”

Snape was non-committal.
The Death Eater students eventually Apparated back to Knockturn Alley to celebrate a job well done. As soon as they left, Snape resuscitated the Hat.

“Are you alright?”
The Sorting Hat caught its breath.

Into peril, we’ve been led like sheep.
The bare truth is darkness taints him.
But not foreseen by the wolf in the deep,
We dare use their own tricks against them.

GM Thoughts

–I’ve wanted to run a ranked-choice voting game for years now, so again, thank you for the awesome turnout.

–Results are skewed by TJ’s successful deep wolf. Ink being implicated by TJ’s Obliviate was very funny.

–I liked that Owl Mail revealed the Obliviate on Doc. Players submitted their messages quickly, instead of waiting until the end of the cycle, as I’d expected. I was hoping for an e/v flip where the elim could impersonate the villager to sow confusion.

–It didn’t help that Extra Credit kept getting NKed (until TJ started winning it…), but after the fireworks of C2, the elims didn’t have to worry about any spells.

–I like vote manip that’s unpredictable. Worst feeling as a player is being told you’re being Soothed and knowing your vote doesn’t matter. I was hoping the elims would pull off a self-targeted Stupefy gambit.

–Elim voting patterns:
> C1, they didn’t vote for each other either way.
> In later cycles, they consistently voted -3 for the same person (Coco, then Grass, when Ink was under pressure).
> Their NKs reacted to Extra Credit wagons that naturally developed; they didn’t do much to vote up someone into that spot, besides maybe Mistfallen.
> Overall, they voted +3 less often than average. If you squint, there was a tendency to use +/- 1 and 2 votes for e-e interactions.

–Villagers needed to both vote down their suspects and vote up who they didn’t want to be exed. C4 (and the game) was won by elims -3ing Grass and giving +s to Ink, while villagers didn’t + Grass.

–Similarly, not giving out enough positive votes C5 meant the village never had a chance against the elims coordinating. Again, two elim prefects and deepwolf TJ swung things by making vote manip (and Protego) a non-issue at exlo. The elim factional spell had no impact on the game.

–Balance-wise, the game felt fair. There were two 50/50 moments that swung in the elims’ favour. Mint won the coinflip over Qian, and Grass being exed over Ink was close enough that a single villager could have changed the outcome. Part of the reason the elims got a factional spell was to balance the fact that rollover was late at night for the elim team, but late-round flash wagons never came into play. Plus, the village had an extra player and I knew we had enough pinch hitters to avoid inactivity removals from the village.

I also very much want to see what happens 😂 the gambits would be spectacular, we'd never be suspected, and no one will trust us ever again.

Edit: I still don't understand why I'm so feared, I am normal and kind and innocent and I was only evil for what, a couple games? 😛

in a way I was correct to be not confident, something was off with the situation, but Verdant wasn't the twist villain

I hope this doesn't raise unrealistic expectations for village TJ because village TJ does in fact have many off days quite often :P.
