Steeldancer he/him Posted February 18, 2025 Author Posted February 18, 2025 The day is over. Gimme a bit to get everything done.
Steeldancer he/him Posted February 18, 2025 Author Posted February 18, 2025 Day 5: Bananas and Kayaks "Man we're over halfway through the olympics at this point and I'm getting a bit exhausted from all the drama and shenanigans going on. I mean honestly, pulling your tendon by slipping on a banana when you go to throw the Javelin? Honestly that poor Gorilla." "Of course Mouse absolutely destroyed the competition, and won the finals for Table Tennis. Weirdly enough, Vulture of gymnastics fame showed up and had an excellent showing as well. Though they got clapped by the Mouse, no competition." "Yeah, that was a bit of a slaughter." "Also, incredibly we saw Swan make a new world record on breaststroke 200. What a race that was!" "So what do we have to look forward to today?" "Well obviously the biggest one is the 100m dash. We also have Pole Vault, and we want to watch the final heats of White-water kayaking as well." "Wait, what? What is that?" "White water kayaking! An excellent sport that everyone should watch. The amount of upper body strength required to maneuver your boat in such complicated ways for a good time... its pretty awesome." ~~~ Breaststroke 200 Gold Swan Silver Ostrich Bronze Tuatara Javelin Gold Falcon Silver Elephant Bronze Iguana Table Tennis Finals Gold Mouse Silver Vulture Todays events will be White-Water Kayaking, Pole Vault, and the 100m Dash. Turquoise Gorilla Posted February 18, 2025 Posted February 18, 2025 Whoopsie. Guess I shouldn't have been eating bananas on the field, it's just in my nature. Hopefully after my leg recovers I'll learn a valuable lesson from this.

GM coming in outing Lord Spirit like that Guess Steel wanted to join the deanonymisation fiesta that was last cycle.
Scarlet Octopus Posted February 18, 2025 Posted February 18, 2025 Well, well, well. Seems like I've got one gold locked in. I hope. Voting Sage Kangaroo for the kayaking event. And, uh, the others...I'll go with Amber Vulture for pole vaulting, and Emerald Falcon for the 100m dash. Hm. Actually, I take back the "one vote" thing. I'm confident about all three of these. ---- Octopus was trying to set up a gambling ring. He'd heard of those before. Not just the concept -- everyone had heard of those, and it wasn't notable -- but how they worked, when they popped up, how to keep them in control. How to keep them from exploding into international incidents. To be more specific, he was trying to sway a small portion of the already-extant gambling ring all the body hoppers had set up when the Olympics began. He had a good feeling about his picks this go-round, and he stood to win more than the usual prizes. He'd earn a small measure of trust. And that's where the real money was.
Saffron Iguana Posted February 18, 2025 Posted February 18, 2025 So it seems that ,Amber Vulture, Turquoise Gorilla, and Ivory Dragonfly will do well today.

Steeldancer he/him Posted February 19, 2025 Author Posted February 19, 2025 There's just over 7 hours before the cycle ends.
Sage Kangaroo Posted February 19, 2025 Posted February 19, 2025 Hopefully the thread state isn't reflective of the docs. Last couple cycles seemed to suggest high inactivity levels in this game. This isn't healthy for the new players who joined us as an introductory experience to SE because who would want to keep playing after this, it isn't healthy for a returning GM to have such a discouraging experience, and I really don't know if this is healthy for SE because there's no point trying to fill sign-ups with numbers if we're just running anaemic games. I don't know there's a solution anymore. I guess I just wanted to reflect how dispirited I feel and to hope we can come together a bit for the rest of the game. I know I'm part of the problem.

Farfetch'd is gonna win all 3. Leek for paddling, leek for vaulting, and leek for dashing. Of course, I think Sage Kangaroo is secretly a Farfetch'd in disguise. Sage Kangaroo, Sage Kangaroo, Sage Kangaroo. But if they are actually a Kangaskhan, there's probably still some hope.
