i rewound time and stopped myself. i now sit, sadly, with the snail.

no, I'm trying to kill the snail you're trying to protect.

The snail gets blown into the portal by a random gust of wind. I sit in my lair, contemplating if I want to eat the sandwich.

i grab the snail before it can fly off, and tuck it into a pocket of my shirt.

i am angry but understanding, and reprimand the snail kindly.

The snail apologizes and explains that it’s really very hungry, which is why it wanted the sandwich.

i wonder out loud as to why people are so obsessed with it.

i ask as to why it is perfect. it has gone through so much, at this point it couldnt be. i also casually grab the snail.

I pull out my sandwich summoner and summon the sandwich, then hand it to you and ask if you really think it's been damaged.

I summon proof my lair, then take the sandwich back there.

i inspect it closely, and decide that it is in fact the perfect sandwich, despite the abuse. i begin to attempt to recreate it so the snail may eat it.

Unfortunately replicating the sandwich is impossible.

i decide to try anyways. i create a near perfect replica, and offer it up to the snail.

The snail appreciates the attempt from its hiding place in the sandwich.

i wonder once again how it got inside the sandwich.

(the replicated sandwich, which it proceeds to eat happily)

i nod in understanding, then sit whilst the snail eats its food, hoping that it will be satiated.

Unfortunately, eating attempted replicas of the sandwich only make you more hungry for the real one.

i feel bad for creating a worse craving in the snail.

The snail starts twitching its eyestalks as it is filled with a desire to eat the sandwich.
