Ceph snorted, and leaned against the garage door.

"Well, for starters, I need some sword oil. Secondly, what exactly are they up to? And why was that one covered in blood?"

Ceph absently scratched at his head as his eyes traveled the cluttered garage.

"You deal with some shady folks, Gramps. I'm worried for ya."

“Don’t ask me,” Gramps scoffed. “Ask them. Ji trusts them, to some extent, which is high praise from him.”

His gaze hardened. “Don’t ya dare worry about me. Worry about yourself before others.” He then gestured off to his right. “Sword oil’s in the back.”

Ceph grunted a thank you, put his hands in his pockets, and wandered to the back. He didn't bother to use the door, and instead faded through it. Man, Transparency was awesome.

Once in the back, he started rummaging around. He found the sword oil, and pocketed it, along with a couple trinkets Gramps wouldn't miss.

He chuckled and started to make his way back out to the main room, whistling.

Ceph turned towards Kazh. "I guess you're right, aren't you? I'm not supposed to. But I'll tell you a secret."

He walked over to Kazh, and leaned down. "I like messing with 'im."

"Now I have a question for you; Gramps doesn't get many customers at once, so what're you all doing here?"

Posted

"Ji said he'd bring us to a safe place. They used to be in a hospital I was lurking in, then they got attacked and left. That's all I know."

"They? Who's they? What is this city coming to, where kids have to hide in hospitals, and chaos is everywhere? I swear, this city's gonna kill us all."

Ceph took a deep breath, calming himself.

"Sorry for the rant, just that I don't really like the way this place is run. Now who're these people attacking you?"

"I don't know much about them, other than I think they were both Deathweavers? Not sure. The 'they' I was referring to is the rest of this group, including Ji."

Ceph nodded. "Deathgranters. I know some of those folks who aren't the best. If you'd like, I could join you're group, and help. Just a suggestion. Just tell Gramps to contact me, he knows what to do. Have a good day, kid."

Ceph turned, shaking his head, and walked back into the main room. Gramps was still rummaging around.

"See ya, Gramps."

He then faded through the garage door, and walked away.

I feel a little threatened by this. Gramps said if you didn't stop fading through his door, his collection of South Corhes parts would grow.

I'm South Corhes.

“He’s in for a whoopn’ if he shows his face again,” Gramps muttered.

The door opened, Ji walking out as he was pulling on a fresh hoodie. He surveyed the room, then frowned. “What happened to the new guy?”

“I sold him for body parts to the Pacis,” Gramps responded in a heartbeat.

Ji shrugged as if it were an every day thing. “That’s surprising.”

“Just because I worked for ‘em at one point does not mean that they don’t make good business.”

“Yes, and the evidence of selling that man’s body parts is very noticeable in here,” Ji said with a hint of sarcasm as he threw his soiled clothes in a pile of laundry that looked vaguely similar to what he was wearing now. He looked up and frowned again. “Where’s Grace?”

Elya glanced back down at the alleyway below. The most of her senses were coming back to her regular state: maybe she could manage to get herself down? Placing a hand steadily on the rope, she gripped and pulled experimentally. There was a promising amount of strength left, it seemed. After a moment's hesitation to take in a breath, Elya gripped the rope in both hands and pulled herself out of the hammock. With a grunt and a bit of shaking, she managed to hang for a second. It seemed she'd underestimated her strength. But she was already here, so she figured she might as well drop down...

The wind rushed in her face for just a second before she hit the ground, compressing onto all fours to break the impact. A shoot of pain rushed up her legs and arms, but nothing broke or dislocated. Elya grunted, holding the position for a few seconds to last out the pain, then stood as soon as it passed.

A few of the people down here were glancing at her now. Some out of curiosity--others, sizing her up. Elya never tried to portray the extent of her abilities on a regular basis, but at the very least nobody seemed to think she was easy pickings of some sort. Most gazes turned away after a little while.

From there, she started asking around for a bit of soap and water. After locating them, Elya filled a small bucket, then took off her jacket to examine all the bloodstains. There were quite a few of them, of course, and by now they were all dry. It would take awhile to clean them all out.

Might as well get started now, then. Elya removed all the things she stored in there--needle and thread, empty bottle of antiseptic, several bandages, extra knives, a whetsone, some small cooking and eating implements, and a bit of peroxide--then started by soaking her jacket in the cold water. She scrubbed at it with soap and a makeshift sponge, getting out the hardest stains with the peroxide. It didn't help that her jacket's material was absorbent, or that it was absolutely covered in the stuff: at the very least she'd have to be at this for several hours, and ward off any potential curious pickpockets all the while.

But there was time to kill now anyways, so she didn't really mind. It was just busywork until Ji got back.

And the others. Elya reminded herself.

She was a little surprised by the thought: that kind of thing wasn't the most likely to cross her mind.

Kazh looked around. "She was right here..."

“Well, if she gets lost, I ain’t fishing her out,” Ji muttered, picking up the first aid kits.

Gramps looked at Ji’s hands––finally noticing what he was going to take––then narrowed his eyes. “Ya never come here for that.”

He blinked, then met Gramps’ gaze. “Well, there’s a bigger group now,” he said, shrugging. “Gotta take care of them, ya know?”

“Even… Especially when you were in bigger groups, ya never came for that.”

“So?”

“Ya don’t have a Lifegiver, do ya?”

Posted

"That's different," Gramps said, waving a hand at Kazh. "What you need is a Lifegiver."

"Well," Ji responded, flustered, "Grace has a healing thingy."

"Not a Lifegiver."

Elya relayed some addresses through her mind. The one up north was the most inconspicuous—but maybe the one due east from here would be more comfortable for everyone? It seemed like they were fighting battles for the war; going long-term was likely important.

Not that any of this really mattered, of course. It was just something to think about as she scrubbed furiously at the one big stain that absolutely refused to come out.

Ceph whistled as he walked down the street, to his humble abode. He chuckled as he thought about what Gramps was saying about him. Probably threatening him behind his back.

When he reached his home, which was really a glorified apartment, he faded through the walls into said glorified apartment. He had specifically requested the bottom floor for this reason.

He took the sword oil from his pocket, sat down with a pile of swords, and began polishing them. He hummed and whistled and scatted as he did so.

Ceph wondered after the group that was at Gramps' place, and why they were hiding from a bunch of Deathgranters. Some Deathgranters could be real shady, and Ceph didn't like to see flightlings getting mixed up with them.

Kids these days.

What does she see?

I hope it's alright if I give ya something to work with.

The veil of the Physical Realm faded as she entered the Enchanted. The cluttered room seemed to fade; at least, the physical things. Whenever she glanced over a person, a floating ball of light––their very souls––stood instead, illuminating the room with their soft, yet bright light.

Through the outlines of the physical objects––tables, the piles of clutter, dressers––there were one outline buried deep that held a small pinprick of Light.

That's great, thanks!

Question: what is the nature of her interaction with objects in the physical realm?

Grace's heart jumped slightly as her eyes fell upon the pinprick of Light in a room full of stars. She moved closer, trying to make out what the object was.

Unless the object traveled with her into the Enchanted Realm, she cannot interact with physical objects or people.

As she grew closer, the pinprick of Light seemed to be attached to... a pair of glasses?

Sorry I’ve been out of the loop for a bit, been prepping for a robotics competition/traveling out of town for a robotics completion. Can someone catch me up real quick?
