What's your favorite.... ? (Forum game)
Quiver replied to Kestrel's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
The Ersatz Elevator. The first one I read, so sorta fond of it. (Never finished the series though) Favourite comic book? -
Putting this here as shameless advertising... And as for reviewer? I... haven't actually watched very many MLP reviews, to be honest. I use to watch Tommy Oliver's stuff (before he... well, quit), but nowadays if I ever use youtube, it tends to be to check up on the Mentally Advanced Series. From what I've seen, though, Silver Quill is pretty good. I also like Canned Creamed, though he isn't so much a reviewer as a theorist, so... that might not count. (But seriously, you guys should all check out the Mentally Advanced series. Or at least check out Rainbow Dash Presents.)

Seriously, it's hard navigating this thread sometimes... (So, just FYI; I quoted your posts so that it would show up in notifications that I quoted you... then edited them out. Seemed like the easiest way to get your attention!) Anyway... I'd be fine with meeting up. I am super self-conscious about posts and accidentally doing something wrong, so having someone who is more of a veteran of this game to "supervise" would probably be a little reassuring to me. I'd maybe double with what Edgedancer is saying -maybe the three of us should talk in PM's and figure out exactly how it works or something?- but I haven't got any objections.

>>Create Salem for Epic combat arena >>Make a bunch of Epics who can't fight in the arena. I find it funny.

So, I was reading some MLP stuff ...Anyway, I was reading some MLP stuff, specifically about how the society in their world would evolve. A lot of people depict it as turning into a Steampunk-like world... which is totally fair because seriously, Steampunk is so cool. Anyway, someone made a suggestion that maybe they would end up becoming a "Solarpunk" society -you know, since their main ruler for a thousand years has been a sun god- and it kind of got me thinking. What would a Solarpunk society be like? I'm not thinking of MLP here; just that it might be a cool idea for a science-fiction society. A little while ago, DC released a map of it's multiverse and one of it's worlds was presented as a universe where technology had been frozen at about the level it was at in the 1800's... but that the inhabitants of that world were creative, so they've basically constructed modern society using only that level of tech. I'm thinking something like that could be really cool, aesthetically. Unfortunately, the only idea I have at the moment is flat-out stealing the "Solar Sails" idea from DS9.

Sentry's ability wasn't difficult to explain. If something had a picture of her, she could see through it. The strange thing wasn't that she saw through the pictures though; it was the fact that they made sense to her. After all, one would think that, with dozens of different viewpoints clamoring for her attention would be disorienting. She recalled a quip that an Epic had once made, asking if the power made her sea-sick. It didn't. A part of her mind -the part that had once been Sophie Jones, wannabe Internet producer- knew that the fact that Sentry could process all the things she saw didn't really make any sense. But then, Epic powers didn't always need to make sense. How did Soulcasters powers work, for instance? In the end, they worked because they did. The reason that was important was because -even while she looked at the stream of people entering Salem's gates beneath a billboard, as she watched her men slap posters up and down the alleyways, as she watched the Vanilla's go about their mundane, boring lives... Amongst all that, Sentry still saw a woman that she didn't recognize pick up one of her sheets and smirk. Any one of those things would be infuriating in it's own right. In tandem, they were irritating... and somewhat interesting. Sentry Looked again. A dozen different angles zeroed in on the woman holding her poster -One of the Russian ones, she realized with a cringe- and in where she was. She tapped her foot, waiting a few moments until her men returned. When they did, she divied up the supplies. "You three, continue putting these up," she directed. "You two, follow me." She started walking, and the two she had indicated followed without question, a roll of papers under each arm, and rifles slung over their shoulders. Whether the woman who was smirking at her pictures knew it, she was breaking a very important Rule of Salem. It might not have been immortalized anywhere, or even really talked about, but everyone -especially Vanilla's- knew that you did not touch Sentry's things. This woman had not only picked up the sheet, she was -smirking- at it. Unless she was a Very High Epic, she was going to need to be taught what the Rules were.

Just spent a while looking for Sentry's sheet from question 14, so figured it was worth uploading here, so I don't have to track it down again. What Happened in Portland? What Happened in the Dalles? What Happened in Astoria? What Happened in Corvallis? What Happened in Salem? What Happened in the Fractured States? (unassigned characters)

Can I just say that if any of you don't watch FimFlamFilosophy's stuff, you really, really should? He isn't a reviewer, but his parody stuff is hilarious... and he has a whole bunch of non-pony related things too. He's amazing. And as for the episode... it was okay. Suppose I'm kind of in Joe's boat -as the big comeback episode after the hiatus and the Tantabus episode, it was a slight letdown- but there wasn't really anything bad about it. It was just kinda... okay. (Which actually probably makes it one of Rarity's worst episodes, since her episodes are usually so good). I did really like Sassy Saddles though, and there were some fun background ponies (like the goth and the preppy pony), so... yeah. It was okay. Looking forward to next week's much more though.

(This is NOT a reflection of my mood or anything. It's just a strange thing I think about sometimes.) Does anyone ever wonder what things would be like if they weren't born?

"Modern" fantasy I was batting around a while ago. Three stories going on at the same time, in World War 2. -An American filmmaker finds himself cursed with Cassandra-like foresight, his films predicting the future while being dismissed as schlocky entertainment. -During the Parisian Occupation, a young woman is forced by a high-ranking Nazi cultist to betray the Resistance after a French vigilante steals some occult scrolls. -On the eastern front, a German and a Russian soldier on opposite sides of a battlefield discover that they share a single soul. ...Not entirely sure where I'm going with it, but...

A secret society of hole-digging Pugs?

Okay, look. Before the mods get mad. Yes, this thread is old... but that's sort-of a consequence of TV Shows airing in season's. And with the latest episode of Who juuust around the corner, it seemed more sensible to resurrect this thread for Who talk rather than starting a new one. On which note... Doctor Who season nine begins airing (in the UK) 19/09/15. Just ahead of that, BBC has released a short teaser prologue, and I figured I'd post it here for anyone who hadn't heard or seen it yet. Thoughts?

I'm not saying this means I'm going to write a Five Nights at Fluttershy's story for Halloween......but thanks to that creepy comment, there's a chance I might write Five Nights at Fluttershy as a story for Halloween.
-
You missed me hitting myself when Edgedancer pointed it out. Does that count? No idea what happened, got the names mixed up for some reason. Sorry. I edited the post to Sentry, and I promise not to RP when I'm too tired to remember characters names from now on. Sorry!

And... Announcement, for anyone who doesn't know. Season 5 returns on Saturday. Even better? Rarity episode. Never has "IT. IS. ON." had so many appropriate meanings.

What's your favorite.... ? (Forum game)
Quiver replied to Kestrel's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
At my grandparents. I used to spend a lot of time with them, so it meant something to me. Plus, I read the Way of Kings for the first time there...during a storm. That's one of my most memorable reading experiences. Favourite fairy tale? -

A brisk, even stroll through Salem's streets. It was an important part of Sentry's routine on a normal day. It helped to remind people that she was more than just a pretty face on a poster. "There," she said, pointing. "There, there and there." An attendant went in each direction she gestured, ready to slap more posters up. Sentry took a slow, deep breath. When people thought of Salem, they thought of Soulcaster. They thought about the Arena, and the promises of prizes and the blood sports. 'For good reason,' Sentry admitted. The arena was to Salem was bread and circuses had been to Rome. And it had use as a distraction. Epics cared about the Arena. They were less inclined to look at the minor Epics who were involved in little things like 'government'. Sentry had realised a certain fact over the years. The more powerful an Epic was, the less they cared about the one's around them. A crass way to put it. She flexed a hand, ignoring the looks it got from a handful of nearby Vanilla's. Soulcaster had unbelievable power. High unimaginable. He was, without a doubt, one of the most powerful epics in the Fractured States. The same could be said for Steelheart in Newcago, or Regalia in Babilar, or any of the stream of epics who flocked to fight and bleed and hurt in the arena. The most powerful men and women in the world owned scant miles of land between them. A powerful epic -one who could do anything, recover from any wound...invariably, they became lazy. Hedonistic. Focused on themselves. A minor epic on the other hand...? Sentry allowed a satisfied smile to cross her lips. As she awaited her men's return, she reached out with her power...and saw the city laid bare. 'Seeing out of things'. Not the flashiest of powers. Not one that would be good for an arena. So far as Sentry was concerned, it was the greatest power she could have asked for.

Fun fact: they handled it using a wet wipe. Pretty much the only reason I'm only panicking and not crying. ...and was just told that if I loved my family, I'd stop worrying and going on about it. Thanks.
