  1. 8/10 Kinda reminds me of pre-Seven Final Fantasy game art with it's style.
  2. Your avatar cat's choice in fashion?
  3. So, if you guys know one thing about me, it's that I love to jump on a bandwagon. So, I decided to pick up a Supergirl comic, since the show was starting. Turns out, she doesn't really have many good stories... but one that I did get recommended to me was Supergirl: Cosmic Adventures in the 8th Grade. It's an all-ages comedy book and... I liked it. A lot. Linda Lee might just be one of the most charmingly adorkable protagonists I've ever seen. I am including Twilight Sparkle in this. Also, I picked up a Showcase Presents volume of Supergirl's 60's stuff. I realize that age of comics was weird, but there is no weirdness like 60's Supergirl. See above.
  4. Beautifully shot, well-acted, story is a bit weak. I'm happy to have seen it, but its not the amazing film I was expecting. (Though I'm not a fan of horror, so it being Gothic romance was good for me)
  5. Has anyone else here seen Crimson Peak? (I remain convinced Crimson Peak is basically a sequel to The Turn of the Screw)
  6. So, Supergirl premieres this week in the US and the UK, so I thought it might be useful to have a topic for it. Anyone planning on watching it? Reviews I've heard have me cautiously optimistic; it seems like a very different show, tone-wise, from Arrow or Flash.
  7. There's a new Jekyll/Hyde drama starting this week. I was thinking about it, and this line of dialogue just occurred to me. "Mister Jekyll! How wonderful to see you again!" "Please my dear, 'Mister Jekyll is my fathers' name. Call me 'Doctor'."
  8. Hahaha, no. Honestly, Oregon are the ones responsible for popularising the pony thing, I think; I just happen to be vocal about my fondness for the show Sane for AMA's. It was everyone else joining that popularised it, not me! So... No special status for me, unfortunatly . Hmm, fair enough. I'll check those out... But I disagree that it was presented as a quirk, certainly not cute. The entire episode builds up Luna's guilt and remorse over the Tabtabus' creation, giving an insight into the maelstrom of -sometimes conflicting- emotions that mind set holds. It wasn't treated as a quirk to me, but as a serious problem. It wasn't something that I felt was trivialised in it's portrayal. Was Luna overcoming it simplistic? Perhaps a little, but ultimately I felt it was handled a lot more gracefully than I was expecting. But I'll check out those videos. I love hearing alternate viewpoints, so...
  9. I had to double-check just to make sure that we were talking about the same episode. I actually really, really like DPDOMS. (Let me also say beforehoof that I am totally a supporter of the Solar Empire. Celestia is Bestia!) Anyway, I really liked Do Princesses Dream of Magical Sheep, because of the Tantabus. I interpret the Tantabus -and the fact that Luna created it for herself as punishment- as a metaphor for self-harm, and it kinda blew my mind that the show would even think about going to a place like that. I honestly don't see the bad message in it though? I actually found it rather tear-jerking, and enjoyed how that issue was resolved.
  10. So... I have stuff I should be doing today. I have some fan fiction I was writing which I need to get back too, stuff I should be outlining, things I promised people I'd review, film trailers to watch... all sorts of stuff that need doing. I am not doing any of it. Know why?
  11. So... random thing that occured to me while I was reading Shadows of Self. Wayne makes a comment to the effect that a hat helps you get into the same frame of mind as the person you are impersonating, which MeLann agrees with. Should their comments about hats and bones be taken as literal? Can a certain set of bones (or clothes) help influence someone's realmantic identity so much? After all, Wax chose his own clothes and acted a certain way to create his own image in the Roughs, so... Yeah. I'm wondering how literal comments should be considered.
  12. Can I ship Steris with all of the people? Or SterisxSteris? Seriously, damnation. I liked her in Alloy of Law, but Shadows of Self has propelled her to... one of my favorite characters from the Cosmere, period.
  13. Well. I have a copy of Shadows of Self. See y'all in a few days!
  14. CRANKY. DOODLY. DONKEY. There isn't even any debate on the issue. That is a terrible episode, and the only reason it doesn't get called out on it's terribleness is because it also has THE BEST thing in it right at the start. 'Smile, Smile, Smile' is an amazing song, and rightuflly held up as one of the fandom's anthems! ...But the rest of the episode is terrible. It's twenty minutes of Pinkie Pie tormenting someone who wants to be left alone, humiliating him in front of a group of strangers and destroying his personal possessions. It doesn't even end with her learning that not everyone wnats to be your friend, or that people need personal space sometimes; she get's away with everything. How can the Best Pinkie Pie and the Worst Pinkie Pie both be in the same damned episode?!
  15. I'm -hopefully- picking up Shadows of Self this evening, and if not, then I should be getting it tomorrow. So... that'll be fun? Also, MLP theory in the spoiler: Trixie is the My Little Pony version of a professional wrestler. (I had a whole series of pictures and captions for the above, but... if the page has to load every image, even in spoilers, probably would have ruined any good effect the signature restrictions had. Oh well.)
  16. Action 1 Who: Senna Queade and her husband What: Trying for an heir Where: The bedroom. They are quite dull when it coems to that sort of thing. Why: To hopefully gain another child so they can form more alliances with other Houses Male: Saelm Female: Shan
  17. DDWIED sounds like a marketable slogan. Hero of Ages spoilers

    Ask Alfa anything

    Favorite Brandon story?
  19. ...Huh. Didn't realize I never answered this... Favorite? Hmm. Season Five has brought a LOT of great new episodes, which has kind of upset that listing, actually; I haven't got around to doing a series re-watch and revaluating stuff yet. There's also a difference between "favorite" and "best". I'm going to go for the obvious answer, and say the 100th episode is my favorite, at least at the moment. It really does feel like a huge love letter to the fans and the fandom as a whole, and it's awesome. (Though there are other episodes I would rank as better, or which I would rewatch more often, that one gets some props for the sheer love it exudes) (The Best episode is the one with Cheese Sandwich, by the way)
  20. Oh, just a local business. So, I figured might as well take a bit extra sugar this morning to wake myself up some. So, I'm not as tired now? Now I'm more like this.
  21. I HAVE NOT FAILED THIS COFFEE IF THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE ASKING. ...Bah. I woke up at three in morning, and haven't been able to sleep since. Plus I have a job interview. Plus I was going to the cinema. Today is going to be...different.
  22. I HAVEN'T SLEPT AT ALL I FORSEE NO NEGATIVE REPURCUSSIONS OF THIS.
  23. Arrow season four, episode one
