If the road to hell is paved with good intentions, does that mean the road to heaven is paved with, like, puppy-kicking? -
Random Stuff VII: The Admins Awaken
Quiver replied to Young Bard's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
I haven't had to do a drug test, for any jobs. Granted, that has the caveat that I haven't had many jobs, most have been temporary and retail, but still. I'm always surprised when I hear about them. ...but I wouldn't be worried, Twi. I didn't get letters or emails related to my current job until after the interviews (they contacted me by phone for them), so... Good luck? -
Sorry! For some reason, I wasn't sure what to call the Oregon RP, and settled on WHI ('What Happened In...'). Sel is the name of the planet Elantris is set on- sorry for the confusion! (For the record, Mistborn is set on Scadrial, and Warbreaker is called Nalthis.)
-
My recommendation would be to run an Elantris game. While it might not be happening at the same time, the 'WHI..." games are too well-known and frequented here to allow another to stand out. So...yeah, I'd say setting should be Sel. ...beyond that, though, I got nothin'. I'm not terribly helpful, I'm afraid!

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO KOBOLD KING!??

If he's offline, does that mean there are vast swathes of upvotes not being harvested? -
Wait. Was this confirmed? I didn't know any WoB's saying Vasher was a world-hopper before returning...

Is Hoid an unusual name? I don't think anyone has commented on it, despite him using it on (at least, and openly) Nalthis and Scadrial. We don't see any other Hoids because...well, only GRRM has multiple Roberts...but Hoid might be a common enough name in the Cosmere. (No one even blinked at Ham, Breeze or Wax. Hoid idnt that unusual by comparison.)
-
The most interesting part of that quote to mes 'if he could make it happen'. I wonder if that's related to power -"Hoid would kill Rayse if be could, but a Shard is stronger"- or if there is a reason he can't kill...

Okay, finally found time to get the song, so... Yeah. I feel this fit's the climax of the first two Stormlight Archive books pretty well, with emphasis on Kaladin. Lyric analysis!

Misread that as 'Gothamburg'. Suburbia Batman would be funny. Anyway, I might drop this site for a while. Still haven't got a copy of Bands, much less read it. -
I need to edit this in with a link when I get time. But Songbirds cover of 'Wings of Freedom' seems to suit the ending of Way of Kings AND Words of Radiance (depending on how one interprets it), and some of the lyrics remind me distinctly of Kaladin.

Random Stuff VI The Return of the Admins

I'm sure there's a perfectly logical explanation. Like they ordered it, it came, and they are hiding it from you until they get it finished so they can spoil it. Clearly, you should ransack your home looking for it. -
Ya know, with all the "hard science" explanations fantasy has nowadays, I'd kinda love to see a short story of a stereotypical wizard, drunk in a bar, reminiscing about the good ole days when magic meant "I ain't gotta explain it".

Honestly, I've said before; I hope Moffat doesn't -leave- the show. He might have too much "cred" to be edited, but I think confining him to one episode a season wouldn't be a bad idea. ...but Who really does need to increase it's writing stable. As far as I know, the only new blood this year was the guy who wrote the Flood two-parter (which I actually liked) and the woman who wrote the Raven. Who has been losing big name writers like Moffat and Davies and not really replacing them. ...Well, I'm gonna go check the BBC submission guidelines and work on my Whoisode pitch. : P

The Official Thread of Relationships
Quiver replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
Honestly... Part of the problem is that I don't know -how- to meet new people. I'm really, really awkward and kinda...we'll, embaresed by myself irl. And the usual method of finding people around here -going out, getting drunk, kissing and going from there- so doesn't appeal to me. -
I still haven't seen the Christmas special... but I've heard Chris Chibnall is taking over as showrunner. Which... I am not sure how to feel about that. Because Chibnall's episodes of Who haven't been that grat (with the exception of the Power of Three), and his seasons of Torchwood were pretty awful. On the other hand, I've heard good things abou Broadchurch? So...

...Wait. What new episode? The Christmas special, or has season four started and I missed it? -
The Official Thread of Relationships

Relationships. Urgh. Okay, fine. Total confessions, fun disclosure, all that jazz? I have not been in a relationship. Actually, I'll go further; I, in my mid-20's, have not even had my first kiss. I... have absolutely no idea how to talk to someone who I'm interested in. At all. In fact, I have no idea how to even meet new people. Talking to complete strangers sounds... insane, and... well, I have confidence issues. I can't imagine anyone would genuinely be interested in me that way. So.. uh... yeah. Any advice? -
'Nine goats, to oppose the Nine Riders of Sauron.' Eh, I think that's close enough. I need a new copy of LotG...

Considering Vivenna is my favourite character from the Cosmere, I'm more conflicted on this than you might expect. On the one hand, more Vivenna. On the other... Warbreaker sets up her story. Vasher was already there when that series started; it makes sense he'll still be around when it's over. He's like Hoid, in that he already existed with his own story. I don't know if Vivenna is the same. The Nalthis books COULD end up being a "Worldhopper Origin" story...but right now, I find it more likely that she won't. Or, if she does go worldhopping, it won't be with Immortality.

Random Stuff VI The Return of the Admins

I keep waiting for that moment when everyone day's "No, but seriously, who is going to be president?". I will be horrified if South Park predicted the future on this one. ...And, on a lighter topic... Anyone seen the new Suicide Squad trailer? -
Random Stuff VI The Return of the Admins

I just realised why people call posting in an old topic "necroing". An old thread is buried under dozens, hundreds, of other posts, like a coffin the ground...then it shambles to the top and claws out like a zombie. -
This make's pretty perfect sense for me, and it would be kind of funny if aluminum - which has it's uses, but is generally dismissed- ended up being the secret ultimate weapon of the universe. (Actually, maybe the weapon is WHY aluminum seem's so weird? Either it's counter acting magic, or the Shard's are trying to design magic system's that encumber or weaken aluminum's effect.)
