Quiver

EDIT For anyone coming into this... the post below was one I made as a seperate topic, which got merged into this one. Hence why it has a bit of a detour/recap of username stuff. User names are important, obviously. After all, they are how we identify ourselves to one another, and unless/until you feel comfortable enough telling people your real name, it's how people are going to think of you. So, having said that... Why did you choose the user name that you did? Any particular stories behind them? For me.. well, when I finally mustered up the courage to sign up, I was completely stuck for a name. I wanted something cool, and relatively unique... while still being kind of self-conscious about looking foolish o silly for whatever I ended up using. So, I was trying to think of something... and I was really excited about Arrow at the time. So I thought themeing a username/picture around that might work well. So, I was trying to come up with a decent sounding Archery-related username... and I started thinking about where arrows are kept when they aren't being fired- a quiver. "Huh," I said. "That sounds kind of cool. It's an object, but it doesn't have any pre-existing connotations or connections to stuff, so I could really try and make it my own. It might sound like a cool name!" And that is the unimpressive story of why I'm called Quiver.

Happy Birthday! ...so, ya'll remember me asking in the creation forum if 'antlered animals' were a good thing to start building a culture out if? I've been doing a little research into deer (because...antlers), and have made a decision. At least one place in that world is going to have Chinese Water Deer instead. Why? Because instead of antlers, water deer have tusks that extend out of their mouths. This has led to them being referee to as vampire deer. I will have a character proudly display a pelt they skinned from one of those. "This? This is the pelt of a killer."

Not being a fan of seafood, I assume the correct answer is "In front of its next of kin"? Least favourite protagonist?

As the title says...how do you picture David? I don't think his physical appearance is described, so... Curiosity.

I -THINK- it's Arya and Sansa. Arya and Sana has chapters for Feast of Crows, and I think they both got one or two chapter sat the end of Dance of Dragons. I'm pretty sure the other PoV characters were all introduced in later books. Am I right or wrong?

So... Has anyone else heard about Stephen Amell's upcoming apperance at Sumemrslam? I'm not a Wrestling fan... but I have to admit, I'm sort of interested in watching his fight. He's hinted on twitter that he's going to in the ring in his Arrow costume -though I'm not sure which one he's talking about- which... will be interesting.

So, I started reading Brandon's annotations for the Hero of Ages and found this passage: Anyone know what the editor's note is related to? It';s been a while since I read HoA, but I can't think of anything from later in the book that fit's the description (and it isn't spoilered, so I'm assuming that means it didn't become relevant)... so is this related to the broader magical system of the cosmere? Is there something going on here that I'm missing?

So... should I post in Salem again? With Sentry going around and snooping into people's rooms to put up posters, there's a pretty built-in reason for her to find Heartsleeve, but... worried someone else wants to do things? Or there is some etiquette I'm missing?

Okay, so. I have one problem with what you've posted. Note that I'm saying "problem" in comma's because... well, it isn't really a problem. But I wasn't sure what else to label it as. My issue with commenting is that what you've presented is a fairly broad overview of the setting and the cosmology. Which isn't bad; in fact, it's ambitious, and I like it. I'm sure that the Cosmere and a lot of other "shared universe" stories grew out of the same idea. But it make's it a little difficult (for me, at least) to offer constructive criticism since, while you have some information about the universe as a whole, I'm less clear on details about the worlds themselves, so... I hope you don't mind my asking some questions. For instance... do the people's of each world know of other worlds and the War before? How has that shaped the way they view things, particularly since they are being ruled by (essentially) the devil(s)? If they don't know about it... what do they believe about their cosmology on each world? What causes the magic on each world to take the form that it does? You mentioned world one has magic based around card games, whereas world two and three both have magic related to necromancy. Is this coincidence? Related to the villain's ruling their world? RAFO? I can understand being reluctant to give out details about characters and plot's on a public forum though, and I'm sorry if pressing this is making you uncomfortable. As I say- it's ambitious. And it could work very well. I would recommend checking out how other authors, like Brandon and Moorcock have seeded their "shared universe" ideas, if you want some perspective. Alternatively, you might be interested in checking out a comic book that is being released at the moment; Secret Wars. It's Marvel's big Summer event, and the pitch for it is that it is set on a planet which is made-up of bits and pieces from different dimensions and realities. The background to it isn't quite like yours, but it might be a helpful thing to reference.

Wouldn't the climax of Steelheart work against that? They were guessing -gambling- on what Steelhearts weakness was, but Prof still had his powers...

Just saw The Man from U.N.C.L.E I might be developing a crush on Henry Cavill. This film furthers my opinion that he is an awesome Superman, who was hampered by a weak script/direction.

I can't wait until Sentry has enough posts and character to get a classification on that system lol
