  1. My thought was permanently active... but -in the case of the second one- that might be too big of an upset to the established setting's of... basically anyplace. (In the case of the first... still possibly OP? But considering how it requires setting stuff up first, at leasta little less... all-intrusive.)
  2. Do you guy's make banners for the HttFE game? If so... mind if I request one?
  3. Okay- thanks for the advice. So.. idea's. Well... they were for Epics - though they come with the caveat that they are very, very undefined and vague, kind of just... "ooh, that might be fun" stuff, rather than a full fledged character. I had two possible powers in mind for an Epic, powers which might work better if they were both part of the same Epic. The first was for someone with the epic name of "Sentry" or "Watchdog". Not sure for a personality for them yet - but the idea was that they were someone who could "see" out of images of themselves; posters, caricatures, drawings, whatever. The second... is probably a lot less useable, since I don't think anywhere outside of Newcago had electronics. But the idea was... basically, "what if Kim Kardashian was the Joker". An Epic whose ability causes electronics and screens to focus on and show her whenever she is within range of them... and she's responded by going crazy and setting herself up as the Fractured States number one Reality Star. As I say, those abilities... might work if they compliment one another. Causing pictures of yourself to appear on anything electronic -whether or not it's plugged in or turned on- and see everything that's going on. Not exactyl combat-related (and not sure if it's something you guys would be interested in), but it's... kind of what I'm tinkering with at the moment. (Heck, for a Human, I'm considering just doing a straight up Arrow-knock off. Somewhat unhinged human vigilante. Creativity!)
  4. So... How does one go about joining this cult upvote factory RPG?
  5. Mistborn spoilers
  6. The books I mean, not the Epics. I didn't see a poll for this, so I thought I'd post it. I just finished Firefight -literally; I finished it an hour ago- and I was curious what people's thoughts were- which of the books did you think was better? Personally (and with the caveat that I haven't really given Firefight a chance to "settle" yet)... I think Steelheart has the stronger concept- or at least, the simpler one. But that is part of why i think it is the stronger concept, because it is such a straightforward idea: kill evil!Superman. (Granted, it might be a little too simple- the idea of an evil, tyrant Superman is hardly new, but it's one that works). Newcago is a wonderfully straightforward setting, an oppresive, dictator state where supervillain's can do whatever they please, and everyone is powerless to stop them. There's also a very straightforward throughline- we're going to kill Steelheart. Every part of the story is a step on the road to that objective, and each part ends with them taking a pretty big step towards that goal. The technology is fairly low-key, too. Sure, 'gravitonics' might seem odd, but it isn't anything that far-fetched froma typical science-fiction tale. By contrast, Firefight (and Babilar) are... weird. The setting is a lot more complicated; in Steelheart, the Epics all had a pretty well defined role, in government and in the book's plot. In Firefight, that isn't as clear- newton attends local parties, and Obliteration... destroys things indiscriminately. But it's a different kind of indiscrimination than the epics of Steelheart, who at least avoided property damage for the most part. Not to mention the city itself. While Steelheart has Conflux and Nightwielder as contributors to the state of Newcago, the emphasis is on what Steelheart himself has done. Babilar -with Regalia's water, Dawnslight's trees, Newton's gangs and Obliterations...Obliterationess- feels more like the different Epic characters are interacting with and actively shaping the city. But... I think I prefer Firefight. As I say, the story isn't as clear as Steelheart's was; most of the narrative is the Reckoners team trying to get a footing on the situation, rather than making the strides they did against Steelheart. But in Steelheart they felt very... effective; they didn't really "lose" (besides Megan's death, but they got Conflux out of that and she came back to life anyway). Firefight feel's more... complicated, in that regard. It's also, I think, stronger on the character side. I liked the character's of Steelheart -but Mizzy clicked with me quicker than Cody and Abraham did. I liked Tia in Steelheart, and I liked her here. But... Frankly, the main reason I like Firefight is that i finally feel like I understand Megan. I just could not get her in Steelheart. Maybe that was intentional -it made me emphasis with David's position- but it also made me wonder just what it was he saw in her. Firefight made me really like the character, and I'll probably go back and read Steelheart again because of it. It turned a romance I was ambivalent about into one that I was interested in reading... with bonus points for the fact that, during the whole thing, I understood why David did what he did, while screaming at him to stop doing it. Megan rushing into the fire to save David? Her last minute appearance to force Prof back? Awesome. So... I think I like Firefight over Steelheart, at least a little. I liked the character work more, and the world felt more complicated and complex. (Oh, and I haven't read Mitosis... but I figured I should include it for completion's sake.)
  7. Who: Lord Tyren Queade What: Building a Mint Where: Luthadel When: Action 2 Why: Well, I already have a bank, might as well complete the set! More seriously though... we have the Canton of Finances to regulate wealth, prices, inflation etc, but all the money that get's used has to come from somewhere, so I figure having the building that prints the money might be a sound investment. It might earn me some points from the Ministry -supposing they don't interpret it as stepping on their toes-, it would give me a pretty important role in Luthadel... and I might be able to make a bit of money printing coins on behalf of the Ministry and/or skimming some off the top.
  8. Does the 'Gary' in the term Gary Stu come the memetic badchull that is Gary Oak? (Lest anyone wonder why Gary is awesome; in the games, he is always one step ahead of you. In the anime, he got 10 gym badges in the Kanto region. Kanto has eight gyms. No matter how awesome Ash -or the players- are, Gary will always have two badges that no one else will ever get. (Maybe 3, since he didn't have Veridian City Badge at the time)) Point is... is Gary Oak the original Gary Stu?
  9. Wasn't she described as Terris though?(Been a while since I read Mistborn- is 'Terrismen' a gender neutral term? Would she be a Terriswoman?)
  10. Dark Puffin sounds like a good name for the pup. Maybe Dark Puggin?
  11. Not really an "hour", btu I rather like Midday. Favourite meme?
  12. Speaking of Discord themes... Not related to Discord, but if you have time to kill...
  13. Kelsier Renarin Vasher Vivenna Lightsong Wayne Clubs Szeth Jasnah Eshonai For variable definitions of "protagonist"... If that counts... Name 10 characters who have served on a team called The Fantastic Four.
  14. EDIT damnation it... Uh... Microwave. Again. HOW DID I GET THE SAME QUESTION TWICE, SERIOUSLY?! Favorite fanon theory?
  15. It's not relaxing, but I like putting away the dishes. It's one of the few pieces of housework I can do that don't make me feel like I need to take a wash afterwards, so I actually feel very guilty if I don't do it. Favorite item of clothing?
  16. I know! Im not saying its good, by any stretch. But for some reason, I find it...perversely entertaining? Also NINJAS.
  17. So. I... kind of like G.I.Joe: Retaliation. Its a dumb movie, but it feels like some effort was put into it. I feel dirty.
  18. Related properties? Tyren sat in the Lord's Office, hand on his chin and smiling. Of course, traditionally this was Tyren's office now... but Marlon couldn't quite bring himself to think of it that way. The young misting still couldn't quite wrap his head around the fact that Rolan had named that... fop his heir. Right up until the end, Marlon had expected Lord Queade to name someone -himself- as the Heir to the House. He had maintained that hope even after the end, actually, expecting each day for a Kandra or a Terrisman to arrive with Lord Queade's Final Testament, finally ousting his son. Sadly, that hadn't proven to be the case. "Should we hold a ball?" the... Heir Queade asked. He looked up at his cousin, still grinning, and Marlon suppressed the urge to groan. "I think that would be a terrible idea, Lord Queade," he answered, the final two words through grit teeth. The boy had no idea what it meant to be a House Lord. He wore the clothes of one, true, but held himself with such... ease. Smiling, with none of the gravitas that should be expected of a member of one of the oldest houses of the Final Empire. His father had been a grim man at times -but it was a grimness that Marlon had respected, a certain solidity that had kept the House in line. Tyre had none of that. He didn't even resemble his father - Something to look into?, he thought- with his slim build, lighter hair and freckled features. Lady Asseday's features shone through on him, a fact which filled Marlon with indignity. House Queade had made poor matches. Rolan had married a noble woman from some small house, and Tyren had done the same -as had Rowna. How long would it be before the purity of the bloodline of Queade was subsumed by those lesser houses? Judging by Tyren, not long. He already doted on his Tineye overly much. "Hmm. You're probably right," the young Lord said, ignorant of his cousin's thoughts. "We did just have a wedding after all." He rose to his feet, slipping on a fine coat, and tapping a cane against the side of his boot - a habit he had picked up from who-knew-where. Tyren was still riding his father's coattails. Rolan had been respected amongst the House- was still respected. Tyren... he was digging his own grave. Marlon just hoped the Lord Heir would still be alive when Marlon pushed him into it. The dark-haired misting glared at his cousin. "Where are you going?" he asked, forcing his voice to be amiable before adding, "my Lord." Tyren flashed his smile again, tapping a hat on his head. "Shopping," he said cheerfully. "Claudia saw a dress she wanted the other day." "So you are going to go and buy it for her?" Marlon frowned. "We have servants..." "What? No. I'm going to buy the shop for her." Tyren laughed, slapping his housemate on the shoulder as he walked out. Marlon stared at the sheets of accounting figures he was holding, scrunched the page up and threw it in the fire. Waiting for Tyren to dig his own hole is going to take too long.
  19. EDIT Ignore that. Thought I was posting in the "Favourite" game thread. Favourite signature on this site?
  20. Jenny? Yeah, seems to be. Which is strange because she is a Big Deal, and I'm sure I read somewhere that she lived because Moffat wanted her too...so one would assume he had some plan for the character...
  21. You guy's remember how a while back I said I was attending a personal trainer? And I was complaining because I felt sick afterwards? I went shopping for new clothes today. Down three shirt sizes, down two waist sizes. I am so proud of myself right now.
  22. Season two of Arrow. Doctor Who season Five was good too, though. What is your favorite color?
  23. Rewatching the sock puppet episode... Seriously Disney UK, air the rest of season 2!
  24. When I was in college, it was Newcomicbookday, and if you don't think thats one word, you aren't saying it right. Nowadays... I don't think I really have a favorite word, so I'm going to use a random word generator online: Microwave. Favorite song?
