So... ahead of The Friendship Games, Hasbro is releasing some short scenes/clips/films. (They did the same in the run up to Rainbow Rocks, mostly about how the girl's got their instruments and about the pony transformations). So, if anyone hasn't seen it yet... here is the first short they released.

So... I've decided to watch the G.I.Joe films. I saw Rise of Cobra a few years ago when it came out; half-watching Retaliation now. These movies are weird.

Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!
Quiver replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
This will be inchoerent. Sorry. Been having a panic attack all morning, so coherency kind of dropped down the list of storming priorities. Sorry. I'm not really... expecting any replies to that or anything. But I'd rather freak out online than keep freaking out "inside", especially since I've been spending the day thinking about it, and getting... really frustrated. Sorry... -
Just wondering, do we know anything about when the next batch of AoL annotations might be released? Given Shadows of Self/Bands of Mourning upcoming releases, I thought they might be released shortly, but I don't recall reading anything...

Tyren was waiting at the bottom of the step's as the carriage door opened. He nodded curtly to his father as Rolan descended, and if he detected the pewter his father was burning to make the steps, his expression didn't betray it. He's a good son, Rolan thought as he stepped onto the pavement. They were utterly unalike, of course; Tyren took more after his mother. Administrating the Lord Ruler's justice had left Rolan with little time to be a father. That Tyren seemed to understand that -and was loyal and duitful aside- meant he was already worth more than virtually any other noble Rolan could think of. He looked up at the building, and the wooden skeleton that had been built around it. Tyren noticed his gaze, and led his father into the church. "It's still under construction, obviously," the young man said as they walked into the main hall, "but the work is coming along well." Rolan looked around. Tyren had expanded beyond the simple church he had built before, out and up. Skaa swarmed along on beams of the high ceiling, obviously doing something important. At points along the ceiling, someone had set up a larger platform, upon which artisan's stood with brush and paints, detailing some corner of a vast, interconnected mural. Rolan noticed Tyren was looking at him. "Impressive," he said. He might not have been able to clearly picture his son's design, but it was clear that he was sparing no expense to upgrade the cathedral, and make it worthy for the Lord Ruler. Is that who he wants it to be worthy of? The thought entered Rolan's mind, but he quickly threw it aside. He walked towards one of the vast, stone columns connecting ceiling and floor. He ran a gloved hand over a the grooves. Something about it seemed strangely familiar. "I recall you said the Lord Ruler appreciated the architecture of the courts," Tyren offered. "The columns are based upon that. With my own alterations, of course." Of course. What had Rashek called it? Khl... something? Rolan rubbed his forehead. Am I becoming so senile that I cannot recall so simple, he asked himself. He rubbed his eyes with a gloved hand, and looked up. Holes had been cut along the walls, like gigantic arches. Right now, most of them were empty, concealed from the world by sheets and tarps, but this one had been filled with a sheet of glass; or, more accurately, a window made up of smaller fragments of colored glass, pressed together to form an image. This mosaic showed... something. A writhing mass of black tendrils, erupting from the earth. "The Deepness." Tyren nodded, standing next to his father. "We had no idea how to depict it," he admitted, clasping his hands behind his back, "but we did the best that we could. It get's the point across, at least." It did indeed. A dark mass, an evil... something, that was beyond any mortal's comprehension or ability to face. A stolid reminder of what their Lord had overcome. "But this is the piece I'm proudest of," Tyren added. Rolan followed his son's finger. At the head of the room was another larger portrait, this one depicting a man... or rather, a God. It shimmered slightly- Rolan suddenly realized that the glass of the man was mirrored- and stared out over the empty hall, imperious but benevolent. "It's... impressive," Rolan said again. "Not quite yet," Tyren replied, a grin breaking his features. He turned his father around, and pointed at the back of the hall. "There will be another sheet of glass there." He pointed up, at a hole cut in the ceiling. "When the sun is bright, it will shine down here. He carefully calculated the angel so that it will shine on the Lord Rashek's image." He pointed at the arc as he spoke. "The mirrored glass on his image will cause the light to reflect onto the second sheet there. It will be set up so that the light will shine back onto the image of the Lord Ruler, which will send it back to the mirror, and so on." His excitement grew as he spoke. "It took a lot of effort, naturally, but I think a continuous loop such as that will be the best way to depict the Lord Ruler as the Sliver of-" "Infinity. Yes, I see." It was brilliant. Rolan had an instretchable mind, one ill suited for art or curves. He understood letter's; the law. The stark divides from Right and Wrong. Khleminium architecture, artistic representations of the Deepness... those were thing's he couldn't understand. But even he could recognize the brilliance underlying his son's scheme. "Of course, it will look even better if one is burning tin," Tyren added modestly. "Once it is completed of course." A display that will appeal to a Tineye. Despite that, Rolan couldn't find it in him to berate his son. Instead, he set a hand on his shoulder, and looked on in silence.

Okay, be honest. I'm not the only one unsurprised by this, am I?

So, I was thinking this might fit the "young" Kaladin, from his time in the army and before slavery

Idea inspired by Mailliw's signature. If you are familiar with Game of Thrones (the show or the book), then you know that there are a series of Great Houses. Each of these Noble Houses has it's own "House Words"- kind of like, a motto, or catchphrase, with symbolic importance as to their value's etc, as well as just being... kind of a baddchull boast. So, for instance, the House Words of House Stark are "Winter is Coming"; the Targareyn Words are "Fire and Blood". What would your House Words be? Or, what would you think would be the House Words of... whatever fictional character you feel like giving words too.

Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!
Quiver replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
The story that got me into the fandom. Seriously. I have to say, there is a lot of stuff about the MLP fandom I dislike -the size of it means that, invariably, you end up with some people who are distinctly unpleasant- but everytime I read about how the community provides support, to charities in general or individuals like Michael or Keyframe, it make's me really proud to be a part of the fandom. -
I had an idea lately. I shared it with Delightful on PMs, but I wanted to shoot it past the open forum as well; partly because I am a person who is always desperate for validation, and partly because I need a little bit of help with the ecosystem. So, a while ago, I mentioned the idea of Unicorn Knights. So... I was doing alittle bit of research to try and create a world around it, and it turns out that Greek Natural History held that Unicorns roamed wild in India. I've been thinking for a while that it might be fun to try a setting which uses Celtic/Hindu as a base to start developing from, rather than Europe, so that fit together; a fantasy world which is Celtic/Indian, with a dash of Ancient Greece. So, when I was doing some research on Unicorns, I found out that there is an animal in the Hebrew Bible, the Re'em, which some people mistranslated as "Unicorn". It actually was an auroch-like creature. A friend of mine also mentioned that he's always loved the idea of someone riding a Great Irish Elk (like Thranduil does in the Hobbit movies) because... well, their antler's are huge. So... I kinda had this idea for the society. Basically, that, a "motiff" of the animals of it is that they have horns/antlers; and, if you've seen the size of an Irish Elk's antlers you might understand the following train of thought; basically, people in this world believe that the God/God's (still haven't figured this part out) that made these animals gave them these antlers/horns as "crowns". Because it is usually the male's of a species which have antlers, they interpret this to mean that men are "above" and superior to women. Unicorn's are on the biggest exceptions since -a) they have huge horns (classical greek History describes them as 27 inches long) - Male and Female Unicorns have them -c) Men cannot tame or ride unicorns. At all. I'm stealing the old myths about how Unicorn's could only be tamed by innocent women, but... yeah, only women can be Unicorn Knights. My idea was that... in recent years, this dynamic has changed somewhat, to a more egalitarian society (possibly by the discovery of horned female creatures, possibly just as a consequence of social growth). While there are still traditionalists who believe and advocate the above philosophy, they are becoming less influential - think, I suppose, the way that nowadays most people wouldn't support racism, ut that there are still some extremists who do. So... the reason I'm posting here. First, I want to know if you guy's think that the above is too contrived an explanation for how things develop, or if it's one that makes sense. Does the idea of a society in the midst of social transition sound like an interesting setting? And... Does anyone have any advice on how to create/find animals that would fit the setting? I figure I can borrow some from the natural world, though it might be a bit of a stretch to have them all in the same environment, so I figure I'll have to create some original beasts eventually...

Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!

Saw it in 3D- and they either didn't align the screen right or forgot to open the curtains, because a section of the (3D) film was projected on the curtains instead. -

Saw Inside Out. One of the worst films I've seen all year. ...oh, the movie was fine; I'm still considering what I think of it. But the cinema didn't turn off its lights, the picture only took up a fraction of the screen, and kids kept talking throughout the movie. Worst cinemas experience I've had since the original Thor. -

... "To celebrate their first Summer together as friends, the girls of Canterlot High go on a vacation to the sleepy little town of Gravity Fall's, Oregon. But, despite her friend's insistence that she relax, there is somethign about this place that puts Sunset Shimmer on edge, something that feel's not uncommonly like the magic she used to feel back in Equestria... and the strange, triangle shaped drawing's that no one but her seem's to notice convince her that this is no ordinary town. And then she finds a Journal..."

Random question. How does one get into the lore of M:tG? When I was younger, I bought a starter deck for the Mercadian Masques which came with a Weatherlight novel. Does anyone have any advice on how to get "in" to Magic's story stuff?

No one cared who he was until he appeared in Game of Thrones. (Did it do it right?)

...Well, damnation. Guess I know who I'm voting for every turn now. Sixthed is the new Stick.

...Though seriously, I'm considering doing an MLP/Gravity Fall's crossover story, someone stop me.
