  1. I'd say that the stone was in Hoid's possession when it died, as he told Kaladin it became worthless for him wearing it. And then it was stolen and presumably used for evil, and that's one of the reason's he's back on Roshar.
  2. I want to see Kelsier's new Heir be the Mistborn serial killer as a bad guy next arc. Kelsier would make a fantastic villain, and well, he is a psychopath.
  3. The Parshendi don't worship the Unmade, they worship Cultivation and Odium, as far as I know. They used to worship Honor until he chose the humans instead of them.
  4. Stormlight spoilers:
  5. I really should request the unpublished books.
  6. The Topaz could have been the black gemstone, before something happened to it, is what I'm saying. That's why Hoid is interested in Gavilar. He wants to get it back, and fix it or use it.
  7. I think Frost is talking more about Aliases there. Hoid "grows back" and heals rather than regenerates.
  8. Words of Radiance, Chapters 59, 60 and 61 Epigraphs, pages 725, 733, and 746 (emphasis mine). We know this to be Frost, the Dragon from Yolen, replying to Hoid's letter. Over the last few years, people have teased some answers out of Brandon here and there, and we now know that Hoid was actually the name of Hoid's master many years ago. And, obviously, the current alias is Wit, but what about that first part? Another quote somewhere (I couldn't find it, though) states that one of Hoid's old names was Topaz (correct me if I'm wrong), so it could be that Frost is asking after his aliases, after all, he opens without knowing to whom he should address his letter. I could be that "the gemstone" is simply a reference to his old name, and that that alias died, and Hoid did whatever regeneration thing he does, moved on, and picked a new name. I do not think that that is the case. The Way of Kings, Chapter 57, page 801 (emphasis mine) I hereby theorize that it is the gemstone itself that died, not the alias itself. Perhaps something Hoid did "killed" it, or him using it lead to its "death." More on this later. Now, I was reading through some WoBs, and I found this: Which relates to the section in WoR chapter 54 when Hoid name-drops Adonalsium, blows it off, talks about taking people apart and stitching them back together, and says his goodbyes to Dalinar. I would say that this subject was very important to Hoid, as Dalinar notes that he seems preoccupied, which is quite unusual. This WoB tells us a few things. 1. The secret society that Gavilar was part of knew, at the very least, the name "Adonalsium." 2. The secret society also knows more about the History of the Knights Radiant, Honor, and the Desolations, than the average Rosharan. 3. Hoid needs to know about them for some reason. What else do we know about Gavilar? Not much, except that he handed Szeth a black glowing sphere upon his death, saying "they must not get it." Another WoB I found: I theorize that this sphere is the gemstone after which Hoid was named, and it has since died, which is why it has gone black and weird. Hoid is looking for it, which is why he wanted to know if Dalinar knew anything about Gavilar's secret society. Frost asked if he has given up on it, now that it is dead. Perhaps he meant "given up on looking for it," rather than "given up on the alias." Source. Since Brandon didn't correct the questioner, this could confirm that the black sphere was at least a gemstone. So? Thoughts? Feel free to poke holes, theorize, and add to this as you will. Thank you for reading.
  9. While I don't think Vin herself will show up again (WoB says he is done with the characters and they are happy where they are), I could totally see Kelsier bestowing his power on somebody, and Harmony drawing the conclusion that that is what happened to Vin. I think I really want that person to be a certain Mistborn serial killer in a world that doesn't have Mistborn anymore... Kell's Heir as a bad guy anyone??
  10. Well, he doesn't like traditional love triangles. I wouldn't call any of these traditional. Spoilers for WoA and AoL/SoS/BoM (Very minor) With Shallan, she is head over heels with Adolin, and I think she genuinely wants to marry him, both for her house, and for her new political position as Head Lightweaver/Ghostblood spy. Now, weather or not that will last, I can't really say. I think she would easily forgive Adolin's actions against Sadeas, since, yenno, she's a murderer too. Maybe Adolin will die, and she will turn to Kaladin, who knows. But once she finds out who really killed her brother, I don't know if she can forgive that, even if she did understand that Kal was fighting for his life. Kal certainly likes her, but he is way too honourable to try and steal Adolin's girl, plus, he does have an understandable (if unreasonable) hatred of lighteyes. Maybe if he got over that, maybe if Adolin/Shallan doesn't work out, and maybe if Shallan forgives him for killing Heleran. I just don't really think that the male lead and the female lead cliche needs to happen in every book. It worked well in Mistborn, and Elantris was sorta-kinda built around that, but Stormlight Archive is much more plot heavy, than relationship heavy. Kaladin's most important things are his crew, and his job. I don't think (at this time, at least) that Kaladin would concern himself with someone that he can't protect through the desolation. He has already lost so many people, that if it happened again it might snap him back into his depression, which he still hasn't completely recovered from. Kaladin and Shallan work well as friends, but I don't think it will be more than that, at least for a very long time. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
  11. I personally don't think Kaladin will die until after book 5. He might not have much viewpoint forthcoming, but I could see him being the general of an army of Windrunners and Squires, especially after book 5. After the time skip, he could have the roll of weathered general/Ben Kenobi to a few proto Radiants. WoB says Kal's parents are alive, but I doubt that they are well. I could see Laral becoming a proto Lightweaver. I also like the idea of Kaladin needing to protect Roshone, and then have Roshone bowing to him like he is a king. It would be frustrating and satisfying. I could see his father driven mad by grief thinking both his sons are dead. Possibly split up with Kal's mother. I saw some speculation that she is from a wealthy family, but they disowned her for marrying a lowly lighteyes. Maybe they ended up taking refuge with them? I want to see Navanni making some epic game-changing Fabrials, but then Odium corrupts them and she dies. Dalinar would be very upset with that. I fully expect Jasnah to be a worldhopper in the future, I don't think they will kill her. I want Taravangian to die. Hopefully Szeth kills him. Maybe Adolin will die after his character arc. Shallan and Renarin will both be broken from that, but at least one of the brothers won't make it. Dalinar is either going to die, or transcend something. I think Hoid is trying to maneuver him as Adonalsium 2.0, mostly because of their little gibbletish conversation. I know Brandon won't do the same thing as he did in Mistborn, but I do think that the cosmere will end up with Adonalsium restored, so somehow, Dalinar will absorb Honor or possibly even Odium. No idea how, just a hunch. I could also see him dying though, but again, no until things are in motion. Brandon won't kill anyone off prematurely.
  12. I think there is romantic potential...But I know that Brandon doesn't really like love triangles, and I really hope he doesn't put one splat in the middle of his series. I feel like they are sorta kinda attracted to each other, but I honestly can't see either of them with the other romantically.
  13. She just said that it made her feel sick, and that she didn't want to use it.
  14. If you could prove that someone nearby the incident had such powers, that might be enough for a court.
  15. Might be something to ask Brandon. At the very least they can see spren. I suppose the reason spren happen at all is because the Physical Realm around Roshar is just very tied to the Cognitive. If this is true, the only reason I could think of is that they have different spiritual things from Rosharans and that's why they can't spren. Maybe not creationspren, but at least musicspren. There was probably no musicspren for miles around them anywhere else, so they would have been attracted. But, it's also possible that Kaladin just didn't notice them or point them out. We know that Zahel/Vasher can at least see spren, as he refers to Kaladin as "That bridgboy with the strange spren" in his interlude. Hoid also talks about them if I recall correctly. But I suppose there is a difference between seeing them and attracting them. Either that, or they just have enough life sense to see them compared to other worldhoppers.
  16. I need it now.
  17. Like I said, Preservation and Ruin worked together to Create, so long as Ruin could destroy it later. I presume Odium and Autonomy would have the same kind of deal. Plus, Autonomy gets to follow his Intent to free Scadrial from Harmony.
  18. Every thread has turned into the "Who is Trell" discussion. Personally (as I've said a few times), I think that Odium and Autonomy have worked together to splinter their more-or-less opposites, Dominion and Devotion on Sel. Evidenced by Hoid's hatred of them, and uttering them in the same breath in the letter. There is a WoB that opposites won't always be as nicely pair as Ruin and Preservation, so Odium/Devotion and Autonomy/Dominion definitely works in my mind, unless we find a closer pairing down the road. Another WoB states that Odium would work with another Shard if he were in charge, in sort of the same way that Ruin worked with Preservation to create life on Scadrial. My theory is that they're working together to take on Harmony the double Shard, whom Odium fears, according to another WoB. My other thought is that, Since Harmony took two Shards, they could together have two Intents. Harmony, and Discord. I think that Harmony now has his own opposite, and that opposite is doing things behind good ol' Sazed's back. Such as influencing a mad Kandra to cause unrest in Elendel. Somewhat on topic on the WalDo thread, perhaps Paalm has worldhopped to get a metal from another Shard, as I don't think that Autonomy could show up on Scadrial without Saze noticing, and Odium is still stuck in Braize.
  19. Yeah, Taln is looking like he'll be quite important. I doubt Brandon would throw a Kandra so close to the plotline. I'd expect to find them in the background, near events but not directly involving themselves in the main plot.
  20. Perhaps one wasn't Returned, but was just given a Divine Breath by someone close to them?
  21. Wayne and MeLaan!!
  22. If applied incorrectly, it gets everywhere and feels greasy. Life is like an overgrown panda...
  23. Doctor who! Adonalsium was broken timelord technology that wandered off and started creating planets and magics. Hoid is the Doctor, trying to put it back together, only, he doesn't have his Tardis, and has to collect magics to jump around in primitive space. Odium eventually creates the Daleks, Splinters of Hate. There's so much that just fits so perfectly! Marvel Universe could work too, but it's magic is too soft. I'm sure it could be explained to an extent though.
  24. Hasn't Brandon actually been calling era 1.5?
  25. What about Frost, the dragon from Yolen? He is "friends" with the 17th Shard according to Hoid, and is very cosmere aware.
