Unknown Shards and Opposition in the Cosmere
Khyrindor replied to PallonianFire's topic in Cosmere Discussion
My updated list, using a few that were inspired from you guys. Been thinking about this a lot since yesterday. Dominion / Autonomy Devotion / Odium Preservation / Ruin Harmony/Discord* Honor / Absolution* (This could also be forgiveness, in a way, or at least include it) Endowment / Tribulation* (Tribulation could be the Shard on First of the Sun, as the islands kill off the weak or unworthy) Cultivation / Immutability* (Rough opposites. Immutability being like durability, strength, and not needing change) Wisdom* / Arrogance* (Wisdom being the seeking of knowledge and such, Arrogance being self glorifying, and egotistical) Faith* / Exclusion* (Faith including hope and belief, Exclusion being how a God would exclude those who don't believe or have Faith. Rough opposites) Crossed out for splintered Shards and * for guesses. -
Possible New Shard Name [Secret History Spoilers]

You can't talk about Secret History spoilers outside of the secret History spoiler board and without spoilers in the topic title. -
Unknown Shards and Opposition in the Cosmere
Khyrindor replied to PallonianFire's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I disagree on a few points, but who knows. For one, there was a WoB saying that the unknown spike is from a shard we know, so Trell can't be Entropy, if that is a Shard. Current leading Theories are Dominion, Autonomy, Odium, and Discord (being an opposite of Harmony, like a split personality). And two, Justice is only contrast with Honor in Kaladin's Order. One of the orders of the Knights Radiant is all about Justice and the law, so the Shard of Justice probably won't be a thing, as Honor covers that intent. -
Weight feruchemy would be the toughest, especially if they did a Wax and Wayne movie. Most of the feruchemist powers don't have obvious visual effects.

Unknown Shards and Opposition in the Cosmere
Khyrindor replied to PallonianFire's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Keep in mind this WoB: Based on this, I think Devotion (including love) and Odium (including hate) make a better pairing that Honor/Odium. Shard names are very particular, they all include many different things under one Intent. Endowment's opposite would more likely be something more, like Envy, rather than just Greed. So: Ruin/Preservation = Harmony/Discord* Because Harmony is still two Shards. Devotion/Odium Dominion/Autonomy Cultivation/Stagnation* Decay would fall under Ruin. Endowment/Envy? Honor/Deception* Envy and Deception could fall under Odium though... Apprehension*/Peace* Instead of Fear and Courage? Apprehension being the Shard that wants to hide and survive. Ambition*/Indecision* I suppose these are good guesses if there are any, though Indecision could fall under Apprehension or Stagnation. * For unknown Shards. Those are just my thoughts anyway. EDIT: @Pagerunner, I never thought about it in that way, and I like what you said a lot, however, Justice would be included in Honor, as the Skybreakers are all about that. -
You know, this is actually very convincing, though I didn't read under the spoiler tag. Nice work. Upvote.

I know the feels. This is the first time I couldn't over the numbered copy. I'm not having as bad a tie with it as you, but I had to wait a few days to purchase BoM from the bookstore (Finished that same day) and I have to wait until wednesday to get Secret History

Mostly we figure Elantris came first. Hundreds, but not thousands, of years before Mistborn. Warbreaker is before Stormlight archive, and the first 5 books of Stormlight archive are just before the Wax and Wayne era. So I think it goes like this (Dragonsteel and White Sand and Liar of Partinel) (Few thousand years?) Elantris (Few hundred years and Emperor's Soul) Mistborn Era 1 } (300 or so years, and Warbreaker) }Mistborn: Secret History Stormlight Archive Arc 1 } Mistborn Era 2 (Alloy of Law Era) } Stormlight Archive Arc 2 (Hundred or so years) Mistborn Era 3 Mistborn Era 4 First of the Sun (And then the other Novellas we don't really know when they happened).

Tis And thank you I have no idea where I want to go with this. Who knows, It might end up spanning several worlds.

It couldn’t be… Could it? The mist felt wet and cool on my face, leaving small droplets of condensation on my cheeks and nose. The sky was an endless abyss of twisting and churning mist, something familiar, but unwitnessed. Oh how I had wished for this moment, every hour of reading. Was this a dream, or was I really on Scadrial, a world of Brandon Sanderson’s imagination? Hesitantly, I took a step forward, and my foot dragged through a coating of black ash on the ground. So this was the era of the Lord Ruler, the Final Empire. It certainly felt real… I looked around, but it was night, and the mists were out. I could only see a few feet in each direction. Suddenly, I felt very afraid, standing in the twisting sea of darkness. Who knew where I was? It could be miles to the closest city, and all I had were the clothes on my back and… What was that in my pocket? A few coins, boxings by the look of them, a small vial of metal flakes in a solution, and a note. Khyrindor, it read, we need your help. Meet us at Pewter gate, Luthadel for further instructions. Oh, by the way, you are now a Mistborn. It was signed “The Seventeenth Shard.” Someone had done this to me, and I needed to know why. What did they want with me? Should it matter? I had been wishing for this for years! But, nonetheless, I was afraid, alone in the darkness and the mist. The Seventeenth Shard…they said I was a Mistborn, and they apparently needed my help. They were obviously the ones who did this to me, so finding them would be the first step. Whether or not I decided to help them, or ask them to bring me home, I would need to start at Pewter gate. I looked down at the small vial of metal flakes. Mistborn… I raised the vial to my lips. Let’s do this. It tasted worse than I’d imagined. I urgently sought out my tin reserves, the metal that would enhance my senses and pierce the mists. As I burned it, a warmth flooded my chest, and suddenly I could very acutely feel everything around me. from the cold air to the very grains in my t-shirt. The mists seemed… less some- how. They were still there, but I could see through them. There were stars in the sky, a stretch of bright red ones that I doubted most people ever saw. The mists made many people uncomfortable, as I knew from reading Mistborn, so no one ever came out at night, except allomancers, people who can ingest metals like tin and burn them for power. If I burned my tin harder, Flaring, as it was called in the books, I could just make something out… A light, in the distance. Wavering torch light, reflecting brightly against the mists around it. I lessened my tin, as the cold was starting to bother me, and started toward the light, hoping I would be lucky enough to find an outskirt town and not a koloss camp. Untrained in allomancy as I was, I doubted I could fight them on my own with just a few coins. I started burning Pewter as well, as it helped with the cold, making me more resistant to pain. Also, it would do well if there were any surprises, as it enhanced my strength and balance, in addition to the resistance to pain. Pewter and tin went nicely together. Suddenly, I realized what I was wearing, and gave myself a mental kick. A bright blue hoodie and jeans. I smeared some ash on them so I would blend into the night. If there was trouble ahead, I would want to fit in, rather than wear a big sign saying “Hey, look at me!” As I was getting close to the light, I again kicked myself. I should have been burning copper! Copper would hide my allomancy from seekers, people who could burn bronze to sense nearby allomancy. I felt a the copper cloud go up around me. If there were Inquisitors around though, the Hemalurgic minions of the Lord Ruler, they would be able to pierce the copper cloud. This could get dangerous. Why did the Seventeenth Shard involve me in this? Only one way to find out. I stepped into the light. To Be Continued So, tell me what you think? Just wrote this in the last little while. Pretty rough draft. Thanks for reading.

0.0 Kell as a survival Shard??!! How have we not put this together before??

I took it to mean that her family had moved onto Scadrial, and she grew up around the mask thing. Even if her parent's didn't do it, she might have wanted to do it to fit in as a child. Because she would definitely not have fit in wearing a mask as a child on some planet that wasn't Scadrial. I suppose the connection works as well, or maybe it's something cool and un-explored with allomantic copper.

This WoB confirms that she is a worldhopper, and I say it's safe to assume that she's from Southern Scadrial. And since that magic technology is pretty commonplace, I'd say it's safe to assume that she has brought it over. However, I don't know of any metals that could hide her in the cognitive realm. Perhaps she is just using feruchemical speed?

Did anyone manage to get a recording by the way?

I remember a quote recently that said something along the lines of "Pay attention to 'Rust and Ruin'" but I can't find it on the database. You might be on to something

Demoux is around 300 years old as well. Perhaps Spook attained immortality the same way he did. I'd totally love to have him still kicking around, maybe as a worldhopper.

An entire universe has just opened up to me, and i had no idea

But that's what we're here for. I recommend looking for our best friend (In the books), Hoid. That's where I first started finding things out. Not sure if you realized, but it sounds like you might not have. Steelheart, Rithmatist, and any earth-analogue story is not Cosmere. If Brandon thinks of a story that doesn't fit with his over-arching cosmere-wide system of magic, he doesn't include it in the cosmere, and writes it as a side story, like steelheart. They are still very good, just not cosmere. EDIT: Have you read The Emperor's Soul? The main character in that novella (set on the Elantris world) has a great understanding of the Cosmere. It's where we learned quite a lot about the inner workings of it. -
I guess you could say...It won't be a perfect state. Forgive me. More on topic. That's totally what I expect too, And I really want (SoS spoiler) I know Brandon will do something totally amazing, but I wonder just what can possibly fill eight more of those huge books.
