I kinda just thought it was some form of the Dor that they brought with them to fuel things.

My apologies. Seems that the computer was messing with me.

discussion An interesting WoB on Sel and Threnody
Khyrindor replied to Rasarr's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Little nitpick: Threnodite, not Threnodian. I think it could be possible that Threnody was named in Honor of Aona and Skais' deaths. Svrakiss = Shades? I don't think Odium would have returned to Sel after Splintering Aona and Skai; he would have no reason to. Perhaps the people just worldhopped there in the ensuing chaos before things settled down with the Dor. The thing is, the Cognitive Realm around Sel is dangerous because of the Dor ripping people apart, so they could have fled the planet before the Splintering as they saw it coming. In SfSitFoH, it clearly states continents, not worlds, were fled. We don't know what the Evil was as of yet, but it was much later after the exodus. Perhaps the continent closest to Sel in the Cognitive Realm is where the Shades/Svrakiss are, and the people knew about them because they had to travel through them on the way to safe lands. -
It could be that Hoid sent his letters via SpankyMobile.

Is that...the Stick??

Yeah he'd probably say "you're making assumptions" or some such (I've gotten that one before), but I'm sure if you're persistent with it (like, that is Nazh right? Who else would be looking for a map while swearing by shadows?), he might chuckle and say you're onto something or answer the original question. And on Perpendicularities, we're pretty sure they go both ways, as you see Hoid jump into one at the end of Elantris. Yes, there are other ways to get in with certain magic systems, or dying and conning Shards, we haven't seen many, and Threnody doesn't have a magic system that we know of that is capable of that, which is what I hope to narrow down in that question.

"Have Odium and Autonomy ever worked together?" And if you're lucky enough to get an answer on that, a followup could be: "Recently?" Though I'm sure that's RAFO bait. Another I might like to see answered is: "Have we seen a Svrakiss on page?" Followup: "On a world besides Sel?" Even if you get a RAFO on that one, it could be revealing. My hopes is that these questions could help us narrow down which Shard is invading Scadrial. If you have time for more, another I have is: "Was the Evil on Threnody related to a Shard?" or possibly: "Was the Evil something we've seen on another world?" Those I think may be RAFO'd though. Another: "If there is no Shard on Threnody, does it still have a Perpendicularity? If not, how did Nazh manage to worldhop?" Minor BoM/Secret History spoilers involving Nazh:

BoM Spoilers for literally the end:

IIRC - If I Recall Correctly TL;DR - Too Long; Didn't Read Those are some I see a lot and had to hunt for their meanings once upon a time.

Super wild speculation. (Maybe Stormlight spoilers)

I think the listeners once said that there used to be hundreds of forms, but that's just a nitpick, not really a confirm or deny thing. -
If Sanderson, as you say, goes down that route in later books, I'm sure he will make it integral to the plot development of all the characters. Kaladin would never steal Adolin's girl, especially now that he likes Adolin, but there's nothing to say Adolin won't offend Shallan. Kaladin won't be around them much in the third book, as he's off to Alethkar, and Adolin just murdered a highprince, which might get him exiled or executed. Shallan just joined a secret society, and we don't know where that's going to lead. Any of these will have repercussions, but I do know that the characters are happy where they are now. Maybe Sanderson sewed in a few buds, but I could easily see the characters being mature about it and letting it form a friendship rather than a love triangle.

Glorious! Lol what a fantastic idea!

This topic should go under the "Events and Signings" Board, but one question I'd like asked is: "Have Odium and Autonomy ever worked together?" And if you're lucky enough to get an answer on that, a followup could be: "Recently?" Though I'm sure that's RAFO bait. Another I might like to see answered is: "Have we seen a Svrakiss on page?" Another: "If there is no Shard on Threnody, does it still have a Perpendicularity? If not, how did Nazh manage to worldhop?" Minor BoM/Secret History spoilers involving Nazh: Thanks so much for the offer! Wasn't able to make it to Seattle today.

"Mmmmm... Let's do another." *Cheers* -
He has a connection, just not a powerful enough one due to his Ruinous personality. If you store manipulate your Connection to something, say, a location in Sel, then you have a chance to get those powers, since it messes with your Spiritual DNA.

perfect order to read the cosmere
Khyrindor replied to High prince of geeks's topic in General Brandon Discussion
My dad started me with Elantris and I was immediately going "No way can any book be this good" and then I said the same thing with Mistborn...and then with Way of Kings...And then Words of Radiance. If they start with a weaker book like Elantris and work their way up, it just keeps getting better and better, but if they read Elantris after, they might be a bit more disappointed in it, IMO. -
That's true, but they seemed to be just passing through a small territory. I doubt the Seventeenth Shard knows all the languages. Why would they need to, if they have magic that lets them temporarily turn into a native speaker. Besides, Galladon isn't shining silver, so if he does have access to the Dor, he's doing something.
-
There have been theories saying that Aluminum was the weapon created against Adonalsium.
-
Does this mean that most of the Shards are on 7 worlds? And the rest are minor worlds that don't have as much significance?
-
I think it's likely that you can use Shardblades on other worlds. Shardblades are connected to a person Spiritually, not Cognitively, and there is no such thing as distance in the Spiritual Realm. Your connection to your Shardblade would be with you anywhere you go, similar to the connection to Preservation as an allomancer. @Oversleep, and Elantrian on Roshar wouldn't be able to retain his powers unless they brought some of the Dor with them. The power is weird on Sel. The Dor is in the Cognitive Realm for some reason, which IS locational. However, if an Elantrian somehow managed to survive in the Cognitive Realm (The Dor is running rampant there, and it is raw power), they could probably pick up some of the Dor in a container of some kind, and bring it with them. That way, they would have access to it wherever they went, and retain their immortality. If they manipulated their connection to a place later on however, their Connection to Elantris would temporarily go away, which is why Galladon could speak the language of the Purelakers and not glow silver.
