  1. I'm going to go through it slow with a friend as a bit of a challenge. probably 6-15 chapters a day depending on the day, with time for discussing and taking observations down like we have been for the pre-release stuff. We get more out of it that way, so we figured we'd try it out. The sad part is I'll have to stay off the Shard for up to two weeks
  2. This time on: "How to get away with stealing books" This could work Edit: I don't even think the bookstore has those radar-detecting-thingys that beep when you steal things *Calls friend*
  3. I predict that Shallan chooses the Ghostbloods, and Jasnah is forced to kill her.
  4. I was under the impression that Dalinar can now have the visions any time he wants, regardless of whether or not there's a highstorm. The end of Part One seems to be the same day; it's the same day of Shallan's encounter with Re-Shephir. So If Dalinar's chapter last week was the same day, that would be "tonight" in-world. I think it has not happened yet, and we will see it at the beginning of Part Two if Dalinar retains his point of view.
  5. So I'll admit I was at my local bookstore at opening, hoping to at least hold the fabled manuscript, hoping against hope that the booksellers didn't care about release dates. They didn't buy into my crem, though. And then later on, my friend actually did manage to get a different person to pull it out of the back and begin the transaction, but then she saw the release date and took it back. It was literally in his hands and was then taken away. He didn't even have time to look at the art in part one! I'm reasonably sure that killed him and I'm now talking to a soulless ghost. I certainly wouldn't have lived through that.
  6. If you haven't read Warbreaker yet, you might want to before Oathbringer, if you can squeeze it in in a week. You can find it for free on Brandon's site. Edit: Ninja'd
  7. Black Panther is Marvel, and after it comes Infinity War. I hope you're not just alone with your thoughts
  8. Valkerie reminded me of Shallan for some reason. I actually found the humour a bit over the top, in that they intentionally killed moments. It still made me laugh, but I like when a movie can be serious too. I like that it was full of surprises, and the stuff it showed in the trailer was misleading. Betting Thor has Jarnbjorn in Infinity War (RIP Mjolnir). EDIT: OH we know Loki grabbed the Tesseract right before Thanos shows up, right? smh.
  9. Crackpot theory: What if the Mystery project's title is literally "Mystery Project"? A meta-Sandersonian twist!
  10. Brandon has said that Honorblade counts as a Shardblade in basic terminology.
  11. Hypothetically, if I were to ask this with Oathbringer, what are the chances of Brandon RAFOing? I know he's generally more likely to answer if he's writing it in a book, so maybe he'd answer.
  12. Eh, fair enough. And, I didn't want to say "Amaram and the Unmade" Or "Amaram and Re-Shephir" because I figured it might be spoilery.
  13. Amaram was among the first group, but Dalinar hadn't seen him since, after the first murder, I believe. Sadeas' camp was one of the first, wasn't it?
  14. I haven't read through much on the reactions thread yet, so apologies if someone has thought of this already. In today's chapters, we learn a whole lot about Re-Shephir, the Midnight Mother. We learn that it is what caused the Midnight Essence and that it is not entirely cognizant. Particularly interesting to me is that it had been imprisoned before, and recently loosed. This brings me to the thought that, perhaps, it arrived in Urithiru with its current inhabitants, via the strange, infamous, Black Spheres that the Sons of Honor have been known to possess. It seems entirely likely and possible to me that Amaram could have been in possession of a black sphere that (if the main theories are correct) can hold and trap and Unmade, like a gemstone with spren. Perhaps Amaram loosed it as a twisted way of trying to bring about more Radiants, or Heralds, as we've known the Sons of Honor like doing, misguided though they are. I doubt Amaram knew totally of the power that he unwittingly released (if he did) and I will laugh when it blows up in his face. Another culprit I briefly thought of was Taravangian, but he only just arrived, when we've been dealing with the copycat killer for a while now. Anyway, chapters were good today. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong if there's something I missed.
  15. No, Nalan and the Sons of Honor have opposite goals. Amaram worships the Heralds and that sentence is more like "God, I hope that it is worth the loss." Hope I helped
  16. It's Vedel's Keys!! And it's nice to see (Windspren?) and Szeth's sword! Looks very cool. And is that the Shattered Plains Jezrien is standing on?
  17. Someone asked him on a facebook post if we could have more information and he said he didn't want to say anything in case he couldn't end up doing it. As The Lost Metal is already set to be done in the next year or two I doubt that's what he's referring to.
  18. Unpopular opinion: I think Secret History is best read right after Mistborn Era 1, and that BoM spoils it rather than it spoiling BoM. Though I would say you'd be glad if you read Elantris before you read Secret History. If you do Elantris, you'll be good for everything in there except for Allomancer Jak (I don't think it spoils anything, but it's a different feel from the others anyway). If you read Elantris and then all of AU, then Oathbringer, you may even appreciate Mistborn Era 2 better as it is chronologically later than Stormlight Archive anyway. In any case, at the point you're at right now, the only thing I wouldn't read is Hope of Elantris because of massive spoilers for Elantris, and Allomancer Jak because it wouldn't make as much sense. Secret History could be read, but give it a reread after Elantris Happy reading!
  19. Things I hope it is: Silverlight novella Nightblood Secret History 2 Secret History: Roshar Edition Threnody book What it probably is: Alcatraz 6 (wouldn't mind that much actually) Dark One Something new
  20. I've infected practically my whole town with Sanderson.
  21. An Alloy of Law series would probably be the easiest to put on screen as a TV show. IMO Mistborn is the perfect length for a feature-length film, and Stormlight should be done after the Cosmere Cinematic Universe is better funded and has more of a fanbase, as it's complicated and high-risk.
  22. Thank you. I figured we'd get more out of it that way, sort of like reading the preview chapters, theorizing, and then getting proven wrong the next batch. We'll see if it works though and if it doesn't we won't do it next book. Edit: also, here on the Shard we discourage double-posting. It's usually better to edit the post and add whatever you'd like to say. Cheers
