  1. Is it bad that I'm mostly just excited because I know it means Mistborn is next? I totally agree with what you two said, and I'll read and enjoy whatever he writes, but my first thought when I saw it at ninety percent, was "ooh yay, Mistborn's soon!"
  2. Thanks for pulling the quotes. So ask if Yolen is the first land? I suppose that would at least confirm it. And if it's a no, then that would give us an interesting takeaway.
  3. I think as most humans originated from Yolen, that would be a way for Brandon to slide out of the question. But I might be able to ask if Yolen was one of the seven worlds. I do seem to remember a similar question, maybe I can find it on arcanum.
  4. I'm really excited about asking some him the assorted ones, as I feel like those might actually be answered for the most part. My obsessive Shard stuff will mostly be RAFO bait, so I'll maybe do one of each, and get my dad to do one of each, and then we each get some assorted ones in until he tells us to move on. My friend may make some of his own questions, but if he doesn't he'll take from mine. So obviously any questions I add to my list aren't guaranteed to be asked, but it's always better to have more questions than not enough. On another note, does anyone have any questions for Patrick Rothfuss? Is he a RAFOer too? I'm going to get at least two books signed by him as well so to fill in that time well (and not yell at him for stalling on the third) I'll need a question.
  5. @hoiditthroughthegrapevine I added/reworded a few. I particularly like the shadesmar mechanic questions, though I may have to hand them out on cards to other attendees if I don't get all of mine asked. No idea how many I'll be able to get in at a con so we'll have to see. Thanks for the input!
  6. But if we capitalize it, it's an easy way to distinguish "Shardic Intent" meaning the mandate, intent, drive of what the Shard generally wants to do/the name of the Shard, and the "intended actions of a Shard". Just a lot easier to say & less time to type, and less confusing for a reader. Shardpools also aren't written in the books, but we still use that as a specific type of Perpendicularity. Until we have a canonical word for it from Brandon, this is the easiest way to distinguish, and even if it's not "correct", it's widely accepted and easily interpreted.
  7. I think the broad spectrum of the Intent (yes, I capitalize it, fite me) is too big to perfectly sum up in one word. Really any name given by a person, Vessel, or anything like that is only an interpretation of that complex and massive Intent. The Vessel then gets to choose how to act on that Intent based on what they perceive it to be, but they can never do anything to actually change it.
  8. The problem with using "Perpendicularities" is that we know characters can create them, or they can exist when there's a build-up of Investiture, so the answer would be an obvious yes. There is a distinction between those and Shardpools, so I'm hoping to find out if a Shard could have multiple "Wells of Ascension" for example, or if a Shard could have a Shardpool on two different planets. I'm a bit confused as to what you want to know about the Nexus? I too was under the impression that they were just fauna, like mountains or trees, not clouds. I've seen theories before that the Nexus of Transition is the way to Braize, which I find more likely. My perpendicularity question is more to find out if Autonomy has left behind a few, or if she is limited to one and that's why Taldain is inaccessible. Also if the SoScads have their own Shardpool. I also want to know why Honor doesn't have a conventional Shardpool if they are more natural manifestations.
  9. @RShara @hoiditthroughthegrapevine I do plan on asking Brandon on the possibilities of Shards manifesting more than one Shardpool. Is there any specifically-phrased followup wither of you would like that could shed light on anything? I could try to insert it into that question thread of mine.
  10. They're using the VR experience to pitch the series as a movie or TV show to other companies, as the world is so complex and would be high budget, and they want it to be done correctly. I guess it's like "Hey, look how awesome this idea is, with your help we can do it justice". So it's not an either or, it's a step in the right direction
  11. Allomantic device was perhaps the wrong term, but a medallion could grant the power with Nicrosil, Ettmetal, and Tin, similar to the Bands of Mourning, but on a smaller scale.
  12. Vathi has been confirmed to not be Khriss. Otherwise, I can't comment much on Allomancy. If the Ones Above has Allomancy, or at least Allomantic devices, then it's possible she has access to it, though I wouldn't take her calling it lucky as any sort of proof, that was probably just a Vin-ism.
  13. Adonalsium is going to be the Cosmere's Benedryl Cutiebrunch. Adolinism Alodizzium Aldonaisium (Jebus) Adonihilism I could go on... Edit: More thoughts: Pretty sure Odium had help on Sel, from Autonomy, that he didn't have when going up against Honor and Cultivation. On Parshendi becoming Radiants, if Preservation couldn't block Allomancy from someone, and Magics are more natural, how could Honor have prevented the Parshendi from Bonding? Do you think it's something to do with Intent? I could more see Odium or Cultivation interfering if that's the case. Where was the confirmation of White Sand Prose being rewritten?? I wonder if Elantrians are immune to the Dor as they can use it? Though maybe not, as Raoden was almost destroyed by it before using it properly. "Gavellininor" --lol Now do you think Hoid is personally afraid of Nightblood being able to kill him, or is he afraid of Nightblood and what he is as important to the Cosmere? @Overlord Jebus, Seattle Comic-Con is March 1-4, not May. I'll be there on the Sunday, hope to see you there! Looking forward to a Nightblood podcast. Totally okay with next week's being more WoBs, js.
  14. Brandon is on the roster for ECCC coming up in a few months, and I'll be going down with my dad and a friend for the Sunday (the 4th). Is anyone else going to be going? I'd love to meet a few Sharders to swap questions. Speaking of which, what's the policy for signing lines at Cons? Will we get to ask questions? How many books can I bring to get signed? Are we allowed to record? Some other authors will be there as well, including Patrick Rothfuss, Terry Brooks, and Jim Butcher. I'm still looking for some good questions to ask, so if anyone has any, I have a while to pick and choose Here's my ongoing list of questions to ask. Most of them might be RAFO bait and I'd appreciate help in phrasing them. Spoilers for everything:
  15. Mine arrived in early January despite me living in Canada. Looks great, a bit wider than Mistborn. Sorry if the pictures are huge:
  16. Do you know if it will hit spotify? That's where I get all my music so I'm not really wanting to re download a music app just to listen to it.

    COINS!!!

Mine arrived! I got the Era 1 and Era 2 sets, with an ash blackened clip and a flattened clip. I honestly didn't expect them to arrive so early. Very pleased with them and they now adorn my Sandershelf.
  18. Again, thank you for typing out such a well thought-out post. I think both are good for the story and make sense. It makes me wonder if Dagobah's tree was set up in a similar way by Yoda, or if it was the reason Yoda settled there. I also wonder what the Coruscant equivalent is.
  19. I agree with that for the most part, but I do wish we had more chewy than just that. Looking forward to your thoughts about that cave scene, I have to admit I (and most of my friends) found it confusing and/or pointless.
  20. What is confusing you in particular?
  21. THANK YOU. You put this into words that I could not. Also, the puffin thing is amazing, I hate them a bit less now, because puffins are great.
  22. I really liked this movie. I would watch it again. SO much to comment on. First of all, I waited in line with a buddy for three hours in the cold (special showing), so that was fun. Fans were sharing food, and someone brought a gas fire pit. We were pretty close to the front. Favorite thing about the movie is a tossup between the epic cinematic moments (namely Snoke's ship being split, I need that as a background or a poster stat) and all the twists. They really pulled the rug out from under us, and while a lot of people really didn't like that, Sanderson has made me appreciate the unexpected moments. While I can understand the fans' frustration at Snoke's sudden death, I have this to say: The outcry is exactly what the producers would want IF he's coming back somehow with the Force. I definitely don't think he will go unexplained. It's also possible that the fans over-hyped him to be something more than he was, and were disappointed because of it. I don't really think that would be the producers' faults in that instance. Again, there will be more to this; either a Star Wars Story dealing with his backstory, or him making a return in the next movie, perhaps inhabiting a new body or as a Force Ghost. I also actually REALLY liked that Rey's parents were nobodies. It's important narratively that people can become Force Sensitive without special parentage, and I was never interested in having everything being about bloodlines. It was also important to Rey's character to move on from chasing a false ideal from her past. Again, I attribute this fan outcry to people caring too much about something that they weren't meant to. This was a great reveal to me. If they go back on that and it turns out that he's Kylo's sister, I will be upset. A lot of people didn't like the plot line with Finn and Rose. It was also my least favourite part, but I can't say I hated it. It made sense for both characters and I found it interesting. Many have said it was useless, but it was important to have the characters fail at something, and have to find a new way. I also think it will lead to tension later as Rose idolizes Finn, and I think that love is unrequited and Finn is still crushing on Rey (not that I want a love triangle). I also really liked the transition of Finn's character as coward to hero, and having him be redeemed was fitting. I do wish that Rose hadn't saved him. Not because I don't like Finn, but because it would have brought a satisfying end to his arc, and would make a LOT more sense logically for him to sacrifice to save the Resistance/Rebellion. Now, enough of my arguments. Top moments: 1. Vice Admiral Holdo sacrificing herself and the ship and destroying Snoke's Supremacy. So epic. I do think it would have made a very fitting send off for Carrie Fisher, but missing her interaction with Luke would have been a heavy price. 2. Rey & Kylo fighting the Praetorians/the Knights of Ren. 3. Rey lifting the rocks to save the Rebellion. 4. How powerful Rey is! I think so far only Yoda surpassed her strength from what we've seen. Everyone kept fawning over how strong Anakin was with the force, but he did basically nothing with it. Even Sidious couldn't predict Vader's betrayal. Luke couldn't life the x-wing out of the water. Rey has been able to defeat Kylo with the force, lift hundreds of boulders, and defeat Snoke, all with basically 0 training. She also has no problem with killing in anger, and I can't see her shying away from the dark side if it suits her goals. 5. Kylo's redemtion. I didn't much like him in episode seven. Thought he was a weak character with some potential. Boy, did he show that potential in this movie. Betraying Snoke was an awesome scene for me, and I'm excited to see him in the next one. Worst moments: 1. The whole Poe mutiny plot line was pointless. Why didn't they let him in on what was happening? Was cool to see him get shot down by Leia, but that was pointless. 2. Little plot holes: Ignoring space science; why didn't they just do that to Snoke's ship earlier if it were an option?; why couldn't the First Order see the shuttles leaving, they were in plain sight and only hidden technologically? 3. The lack of Chewie. Needed to see his pain after Han's death, not him screwing around with merchandise. Some theories I have going forward: 1. Rey is the real "Chosen One", not Anakin or Luke. Think about it. Everyone thus far has WILDLY misinterpreted the whole "bringing balance to the force" thing. The Jedi thought it meant destroying the Sith, the Sith (and us for a while) thought it meant having two vs two in the light and dark sides. Even Snoke seems to think that there is a balance of power between Kylo and Rey. But where the plot seems to be going (and I like this very much) with the destruction of the last "conventional" Jedi (Luke), and last "conventional" Sith (Snoke* maybe), we now have two soon-to-be completely Force-neutral characters that have the potential to work together. I want to see them create a new generation of force-users that aren't strictly light or dark, much like the Grey Knights, not shying away from the dark side of the force, and not preoccupied by the same old struggle of "Light vs Dark". Basically, Rey should accept Kylo's offer, once they're ready to work together and put the past behind them. Also, she has those books now, which supposedly show more about the Force as it should be. All the talk of "balance" heavily foreshadowed this, in my mind. 2. Some more, probably, but I have to run. I need to watch this movie again. Let me know what you think of the theory, if you get that far into my too-long post.
