Vasher and Shashara did base Nightblood off of Shardblades they had seen while worldhopping, though Nightblood himself is Awaakened steel.

"That's an interesting thing that we know nothing about, still." --every Sanderfan ever On the vein of Ishar's craziness.... Odium treats Dalinar as though he can speak for the human race as a Bondsmith. Perhaps Ishar (as the patron of the Bondsmith order) saw himself as somehow able to rewrite the way the Oathpact works (even though that's somewhat ridiculous). And by Oathpact, I mean more than just the Hearlds and Braize, but the whole of the Desolations and the agreement between Honor and Odium. Re Diagramists: I don't like the idea that he made the Diagram strictly from brain power. I really like the idea that Cultivation herself had a hand in creating the Diagram, and is using Taravangian as a pawn against Odium. If Odium begins trusting in the Diagram, Cultivation could have put in some flaw to catch and trap him.

Where will we see new Shards?
Khyrindor replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'd be okay with that if the clues were in there and able to be figured out. I'd hate for him to pull an RJ and say "yep, there are secrets hidden in there! Good luck finding them" and then dying with them unanswered. I'm sure there will be Realmatics left that are disputed even in-universe that won't be entirely answered (for example the Beyond, what Cognitive Shadows really are, what's up with Aluminum) that we can theorize for ages, but all the important things that people in-universe do know, I would hope those are all answered. -
The way I saw it, mostly in SH was how Connection (especially in the Spiritual Realm where time is irrelevant) sort of showed Connections through all of time. I may have been misremembering I suppose. It's making less sense the more I think about it. I concede

Where will we see new Shards?
Khyrindor replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I've been coming around to the idea of a Shard on Silverlight. There's also the one that's trying to hide. That leaves four for other planets. Assuming one is on Vax, that's three Shards left. It's possible we'll see some in MB era 4 through the eyes of Scadrian spacefarers coming into contact with other worlds and Shards. There's probably a few that are Splintered as well. Also, as others have said, we'll get them all in Dragonsteel (probably). If Brandon ties of the Cosmere with even one Shard unknown, I will be upset. -
Fortune is a broad term in Realmatics, and is something we'll see take different forms throughout different books. The fortune the Ire mention isn't strictly Chormium Fortune from Scadrial, but Chromium and whatever they typically use both function by the same cosmere mechanics. We don't know exactly fortune works, except that it's how Hoid knows where he has to be. Fortune is an underlying mechanic in the same way as Identity and Connection. We've seen those show up in other magic systems, even though they have little to do with allomancy and feruchemy on their own. Hope that helps.

Civ 6 improved on a lot of ideas Civ 5 introduced but also left some holes that should have been improved. One thing I can think of is warmonger penalties. Even if you do everything you can to lessen them, conquering a civ entirely will give you -200 "relationship points" to all civs you know. Even if they declared war on you first. The mechanic itself is a good idea, but still horribly unbalanced. I do like the districts, and how it coincides with the spying and warfare, adding a lot of strategy in placement. You have to pick and choose which ones you want for a city if you want to have a balanced civ, as the limit is determined by your city's population. For example, I have a Commercial Hub, Harbor, Theatre square, and aerodrome in one city, but have to wait a long time to build another. So, in another city, I build a Campus, Encampment, and Spaceport. I've put a few hundred hours into it so I can say it was worth the price, as it's given me a lot of entertainment. One thing I can say is that it's very replayable. I'll go a few weeks or months between games, then pick it up and have just as much fun as the first time, despite some of the problems. If you have the DLC for Civ 5, Civ 6 is like a polished version of that, with a few new game mechanics, and some things cut out entirely. I'd say it's worth it if you think you'll play a few games. I never use the Internet games, I tend to just play it with friends which has so far worked out pretty well.

(OB) Why isn't Axies at Urithiru
Khyrindor replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
One of Jasnah's correspondents mentioned an "Axies sighting". I can't remember where, though. I would have thought perhaps Kholinar, where the corrupted spren would have given him things to ponder. -
Re: Internal/External and Pushing/Pulling I agree that there is probably something to this, as that WoB does seem to imply that Allomancy followed a similar pattern that was already present. I don't think Shards will always follow an easy pattern, though. When I was doing the thing I described in an above post, I was trying to do it by pushing and pulling and all that, but honestly, it's up for such broad interpretation that we need better terminology, and we have nothing to that effect in canon. I can agree that Internal is an intent that would seem more personal to a Shard, in that it would apply to itself. However, even things like Autonomy or Honor (which I would have labelled as Internal) we see quite clearly in canon that they do try to impose that on anyone but themselves. For evidence: Autonomy constantly interfering everywhere, and locking up Taldain. She screams "Freedom" but is imposing it on others in a way that is contradictory to her intent. The fact is, we never see Shards apply their intents to themselves. Endowment doesn't give herself gifts. Preservation sacrifices himself to preserve others. Ruin isn't suicidal. So how can we, with this pattern and over half the Shards known, say that exactly one half of them are Internal? Again, this deserves thought, and there is something to it. But I think so far we're looking at it wrong.

More complex in that it includes more. Individuality and separation are part of Autonomy, but Freedom doesn't quite go that far on its own (IMO).

How is Rock's true name pronounced
Khyrindor replied to Lopen stormblessed's topic in Stormlight Archive
I was RIGHT -
Your guess is as good as mine, so I suppose the method is something we won't agree on. I will argue about Devotion though . When you devote yourself to something or someone, you are (at the very bones of it) allowing it power over you. I did also say that I know it's a gross oversimplification of Shardic intent. Devotion includes things like love and compassion as motives for devotion, just as Autonomy is more complex than "freedom".

How is Rock's true name pronounced

I pronounce it slightly differently. Noo-moo-hoo-koo-mah-kee-ah-kee-ay-ah-loo-nah-more -
Admittedly, a lot of it is "they sound like divine attributes", but I would argue that there's a lot more to it than that. It started, for me, by looking at Adonalsium and thinking "What's missing?" Sure, we may not know if, or to what extent, Adonalisum actually resembles a God figure similar to those in our world, but it's a lot better than a shot in the dark. Another main part of my theorizing is in finding similarities between certain Shards, and taking that a step further than simple opposites. For example, a while back, I noticed (as the OP did) that Autonomy and Dominion are naturally opposed. I also noticed that Dominion and Devotion are similar in contrast and that all these three have to do with power to some degree. (Keep in mind that these following summaries of Shardic intents are simplified, and I know that they include MUCH more than that, but humor me for a minute) Autonomy: You give authority only to yourself Dominion: You take/command power (in the form of authority) from others Devotion: You give others authority over you willingly Which of course leaves a hole for "others giving you power in the form of authority". I call this Charisma, but it's sort of blended with Leadership in my mind. With these, I also make sure that they would align with a hypothetical God figure (which I'm basing off of my own view of God, so take that as you will). Charisma, in this case, being the worthiness of God that would draw followers to him, which you don't quite get with the other three in the group. This pattern is easier to see in the groups that we know most of the Shards of, and you may notice it in the group I labeled "Creation" as well. I guess we may be overthinking this, and that Brandon himself may not have even narrowed all of the Shards down to specific intents. But I will be extremely surprised if we haven't managed to guess a few. I also wonder...What makes you say you don't like that we are logical about this? I'm curious to know what you think of it if you care to elaborate.
-
I mean the idea that Adonalsium was, for all Intents (huehue) and purposes, a divine being. Thus, the Shards that comprise it would be those that we would typically expect in a god figure a la the Hebrew God Adonai (for which Adonalsium may have been named). Some of the reasons it is a popular theory are that Hoid and Frost seemed to accept Adonalsium as God as referenced in their letters, and what I mentioned above with the name. But Brandon also won't outright confirm if Adonalsium is that, just it was seen as that in the past.

Your guess is as good as mine. I like the idea of Serenity as a Shard. I had a whole bunch of reasoning in the other threads that I don’t really want to re-type out here. What do you think of the Adonalsium as God theory?
-
You can look in my sig for some very in-depth discussions of Shardic Intents. Something that came up (quite a lot, actually) was opposition to my initial thoughts of "Opposites". Given what we see in Mistborn it is easy to see why we would assume Shards are paired in opposites, but I think it's becoming increasingly evident that that is simply not the case. As some others have given WoB evidence above, Brandon has outright stated that Shards aren't necessarily paired. One common theory that I espouse is that there are four groups of four Shards each (a little like the metal groupings in Mistborn). Each grouping would have Shards with contrasting Intents that make up one of four parts of Adonalsium's godhood. The theory that Adonalsium was a God (capital G) isn't confirmed, but there is enough evidence for there to talk about (both in the books and out), though I suspect it's one of those things that won't be confirmed by Brandon, as it makes for interesting in-universe debates later in the cosmere narrative. My personal list of possible Shards is this: Group A: Creation Preservation, Ruin, Cultivation, Chaos/Neutrality/Abeyance Group B: Authority/Personality Dominion, Autonomy, Devotion, Charisma/Leadership/Magnetism Group C: Action Endowment, Ambition, Honor, Retribution/Justice/Trial Group D: Divinity Odium, Enlightenment/Wisdom/Ingenuity, Enigma/Mystery/Paradox, Purity/Holiness/Chastity Keep in mind this was mostly thought up before Oathbringer. Let me know what you think, and take a look through what I had to say on the threads in my sig.

@Weltall I meant the metal Dragonsteel, not the story itself. I should have been more clear. Another thing I'd like to add is how smaller cognitive reflections work between worlds. How do gas giants, stars, and other planetary bodies look in the cognitive realm? We know they do, but have no idea how. Also, the third continent on Sel. We have the Fjordell/Arelene continent, the Rose Emipre continent, and a third that we know absolutely nothing about thus far.

[OB] Autonomy’s Avatar Is the Third Sibling!
Khyrindor replied to Confused's topic in Stormlight Archive
A very interesting theory. I like the thought of some of the created stuff left over from Adonalsium being assigned to other Shards, and I think if Brandon were to go that route with the Sibling, it wouldn't be too "off" from the story, like we'd need to know who Autonomy is by then. Like in Elantris, we know Odium splintered D&D but it's not super important to the plot. That said...I think there's a bit of a hole. If it is some of Autonomy's Investiture left over from long ago, she'd have to actually do something to grow it into an avatar. I don't think we should be looking at connections between it and White Sand's magical elements, as her Avatar on Patji is widely different from anything on Taldain. I suspect those differences in magical elements aren't something a Shard (or Avatar) would have much control over; they likely have more to do with planetary focus. Like others said, the crem and that stuff is more obviously hijacked by Cultivation. The Windblades and Urithiru, maybe I could be persuaded by that. I don't like the theory that the Third Sibling is of Odium, so something like this could be interesting. -
There are six Shards of Adonalsium we can only guess the names of. Vax? Where is it? When will we see it? Silverlight. We know a bit. It's a city in the cognitive realm, there are universities there that Khriss helped found, and many people live their whole lives there without going to actual planets. But we haven't seen more than mentions thus far. Dragonsteel? Is it still canon? Who knows.
-
It was really cool to see that that fan theory was right after all that time. I have no idea who really tried to guess it in the first place, but kudos to them for calling it.

Think of each world's reflection in the cognitive realm as a circle. If you bring a bunch of circles together in a random array, there will be a lot of empty space between. Those empty spaces are space, uninhabited planets, and oceans. You can likely cross this stuff in a matter of days to months depending on your method of travel. And all that empty space is solid ground, which is easier for travel as opposed to the beads/mist/whathaveyou that make up Shardworlds' reflections. You could start a map, but without knowing all of the other unknown planets, or the locations of Vax and Yolen, or how exactly the space between planets works... Suffice it to say you'd need to update it again soon.
