  1. If you parameterize a disk with radius a as r(u,v)=<u*cos((2pi/a)*v), u*sin((2pi/a)*v)>, the resulting parameter domain is a square with side length a. That's about as close as I can get to a square circle. And since only elims talk about math, here's to hoping I rand elim .
  2. Is there an old guy in the windmill? I’ve only played Ocarina once and it was a couple of years ago. And I’m pretty sure Song of Storms was only useful there and for spawning fairies in a desert.
  3. Does any Zelda game have a grouchy old guy (or gal) in it? Because if they do, that's who I'm signing up as.
  4. You can temporarily borrow my collection of Honorblades, of which I have a full set from LG 91.
  5. I'm pretty sure that one breaks the game due to the action economy .
  6. This game was a lot of fun to watch! Also, a quick announcement from the mod team: @|TJ| and @A Jo in the Bush will be joining us as moderators! @The Unknown Medallion is also a (somewhat) new mod, and I don't think he was announced as joining back when it happened. This will hopefully keep things running a bit more smoothly and reduce the downtime between games.
  7. This is a misunderstanding. Dying players are informed of the results of their actions, but since they are dead, they are unable to communicate those results. At no point do the GMs communicate the private results of one player’s actions to a different player.
  8. We have new mods actually! There will be a formal announcement at the end of the QF, but TJ and Jo are joining the mod team. (Also to be an IM you need to be a subforum mod for thread locking, editing, etc.)
  9. There aren't any, though we require new GMs to have a co-GM if they run a complicated set of rules, or to co-GM with someone else before running their first game solo. It also takes a while to get near the top of the signups list, so most folks that GM have played several games once their turn rolls around.
  10. Ashbringer is not quite sure yet. @OoklaApologist is next, but hasn't been active for a couple of weeks. Then @A Jo in the Bush and @The Unknown Medallion, who just ran the AG, so idk if they want to run the next game. I'm after those three, and I'd probably run a reworked version of my House on the Hill game. The rules are just about ready, I just need to work out an item mechanic.
  11. I'd suggest reading any of the recent LGs (the Anniversary Game might be a bit confusing with the anonymous accounts). Some of the older games (AG1 era) are pretty fun to read through as well, though they have a fairly different feel from how things are nowadays.
  12. Since QF games are pretty fast, I think we should start figuring who will run the next LG. I’m a bit busy now so if someone wants to ping the first 5 or so names on the LG list that would be great. Otherwise I’ll try and do it this weekend.
  13. Neat! I'd definitely enjoy getting to play with you some more if you're around.
  14. Drake ran the last one (yours was all the way back in August), but we can give priority to the other folks if they want it and you're okay with it.
  15. @TwinStorm, @Aeoryi, @KaladinsSenseOfHumourSpren, and @Hoid Slayer are the last 4 names on the QF list (Kas is busy). Any of you want to run the next game?
  16. I feel like all I have to do to hide myself is to not say folks and bother, and to not use pink in docs. And to not RP as a grouchy old guy, of course . But me not being the IM should have been a bit of a clue I was playing.
  17. Good game everyone! I look forward to another year of SE with y’all (and I need to redeem my elim rep after this game).
  18. The AG doesn't use up a signup slot, so you're good. Prior to the AG we ran MR 75, so the next game should be a QF. @StrikerEZ @Steeldancer @DrakeMarshall @kelsierapologist (not sure what their username is right now) @The Unknown Medallion These are the first 5 slots. Jo and Kas are after them.
  19. I think my interest in book-lore is fairly proportional to how much I enjoy the book. Pretty sure I haven’t ever looked into the lore of anything I didn’t really like reading. And reading into the lore also tends to make me appreciate the original book even more, so I also can’t say that going off and reading lore has ever caused me to think, “Hey, this is way more interesting than the original.” For example, I read Dune and didn’t really care for it, so I just didn’t go read into the lore at all. I can see where WoT might feel this way to some people, since some of the characters aren’t written that well, and the scale of the plot tends to overshadow them. But LoTR has three of the best friendships in fantasy that I’ve ever read: Frodo and Sam, Merry and Pippin, and Legolas and Gimli. In my opinion no amount of lore can overcome a good friendship.
  20. Good game everyone! While it was a bit sad to die early, I had family visiting for Christmas so I didn't really mind. Well-played elims, and thanks to @DrakeMarshall and @little wilson for running the game.
  21. Alvron is in the game. I can agree with that much. Edit: You're not crazy. That's how it normally works.
  22. I think I disagree with just about everything in this statement . I’ll be a bit sad if I get exed here, but I suppose that means I can spend more time writing my dissertation. TJ and Hoid are probably the other players I’d consider swapping to, but neither of them is particularly competitive in this exe.
