  1. Yeah, there's definitely rampant speculation that Bavadin is hanging out on the sun. IMO, however, that doesn't make sense. If he's on the sun, it would be mighty difficult for Khriss/Baon/a certain someone else to access his perpendicularity and worldhop.
  2. We have WoB that Autonomy is the only Shard in the solar system.
  3. YESSSS The Gap is SO GOOD. It's brutal, especially in the first two books, but it's also the only series I've ever read that a) every book is significantly better than the last and b ) the first book is very good to begin with. Also, @Megan if you want a true challenge (and something that absolutely forces you to read between the lines), try Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun. It's the only thing I've read that actually gave me that feeling of "everything else is inferior" and it took BoM/Secret History coming out to snap me out of it. Wolfe is lightyears better than anyone else I've read, in terms of his mastery of prose. (And yes, that includes Rothfuss, who's solidly in second place.)
  4. This definitely isn't right. Brandon talked about the Unmade as godspren-level splinters of Odium at JordanCon this spring, comparing them to the Stormfather and the Nightwatcher. There were spren there before the arrival of H/C, but those are not the Unmade.
  5. Yeah, I just got the impression that he made it a sort of Fertile Crescent-type area. Somewhere conducive to life as a result of the ecological and meteorological peculiarities of the area. Big river running through, coastal, protected by mountains, etc.
  6. I would love to see that WoB. I can't find anything on Theoryland like that.
  7. Possibly. Nightblood, however, cannot change his shape (that we know of), so why would she be asking for "tools?" What craftsman uses a sword as a tool?
  8. I think it's also very pertinent that Khriss and Nazh are putting out ads in the local Scadrial papers, asking for tools that speak to people.
  9. We have WoB that this is not the case:
  10. He didn't make it into TES, though. Brandon removed him for the final draft. I don't count the oblique mention. *shrug*
  11. My nominations: Khriss x3 Silence x1 Wyndle x1
  12. Yeah, unfortunately not a Shard. I got final confirmation of this at the JordanCon Q&A in April: The whole transcript (full of lots of good tidbits) is here.
  13. I'd imagine not, since he hasn't been in any of the other "side" novellas. (Not counting Secret History here, since that's dealing with a main character and behind-the-scenes of main events.) But it would certainly be cool to see what he thinks of Lift. I bet he'd be floored by her metabolic ability.
  14. I think the fact that he's said he's comfortable with having the flashback character already be dead by the time the book rolls around discounts this.
  15. That would be the one I was thinking about, thanks! Shardic Number Theory, not Realmatic.
  16. Isn't there a big Realmatic Number Theory that's bounced around this forum a lot?
  17. I highly doubt Demoux was a worldhopper before HoA. He was very much a naive young guy, and I don't see a worldhopper with knowledge of Adonalsium helping found a religion that worships Kelsier. My guess is that he got recruited into the Seventeenth Shard sometime after the Catacendre.
  18. Since this thread got resurrected, I'll play. Favorite character: Khriss. She's such a nerd. I love the mysteries still surrounding her, but getting in her head in White Sand was excellent. Favorite magic system: Allomancy, if I had to choose just one and can't pick a general "Metallic Arts." I'll never forget the gradual revelation of what Allomancy can do over the course of Era 1. More than anything, that's what made me fall in love with Brandon's books. Favorite series: Mistborn, but that's mostly due to Stormlight only being two books in vs. 7+ for Mistborn.
  19. I like this theory, specifically that it's the weapon. I kinda doubt it's true, but I want it to be because I love Threnody and theorizing about it (I was the one who stumbled over the meaning of "threnodic" and used that as my jumping-off point). I really, really cannot wait to get my hands on the Khriss intro in Arcanum Unbounded. From what Brandon told me, it sounds like we're gonna get some actual answers in there.
  20. We have WoB that the Nightwatcher is a splinter of Cultivation on the order of the Stormfather:Honor.
  21. We don't really know. Brandon has said on a couple occasions that Hoid hasn't used the Lerasium the way we'd expect. There are some theories about a metalmind. All I know for sure is that he has it, he didn't use it the way we expect...and yet he's clearly an allomancer, as we see in WoR. We'll probably have to see if we get anything more in Oathbringer that'll give more hints.
  22. From WoB on the Rithmatist tour: From this thread http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/2913-the-letter-the-element/?page=2
  23. I don't think that would be possible. A physical body without a Cognitive aspect? That's somehow also the Shard? That doesn't make sense. To put only a piece of its power into a body, I'm pretty sure the Shard would have to splinter itself. And then you get, in essence, a Returned-type person instead of an avatar of the Shard.
  24. Well, Dragonsteel is thousands of years before Stormlight. It's the origin story. I feel exactly the same.
