  1. I have to try to convince my bosses to let me take two days off to go to Provo for the midnight release, three days before we leave. Wish me luck haha
  2. I'm gonna be in freaking London for work. But a bunch of my friends will be going/getting dragooned into asking my questions.
  3. The link says that they're fast-tracking WoK as the first movie.
  4. I do think Stormlight is going to end up being too ambitious for the screen. But MAN, Mistborn is perfect for it. I can't wait.
  5. Hoooooooly cow, people. http://variety.com/2016/film/news/brandon-sanderson-cosmere-movie-adaptation-dmg-1201902500/
  6. Yeah, I imagine the person burning the lerasium would become a sliver once it was all burned up.
  7. Just got confirmation from Peter. AU contains BOTH.
  8. I'm going to officially enter for the first time. I did a sort of unofficial one two years ago, where I set a goal to write 50k on my WIP at the time (and I did hit that goal), but this will be the first time I sit down and start a novel from scratch for NaNo. I'm excited for the freedom.
  9. Autonomy is Trell. I won't go into all the details here because this has been hashed over so many times already, but I'll add one more prediction: The reason Taldain is currently inaccessible for worldhopping is because Autonomy has divested himself from Taldain and is trying to move onto Scadrial. There's no perpendicularity left on Taldain to transfer from Realm to Realm.
  10. Hoid definitely knows about the Cognitive Realm. Can't speak to what's going to happen to them, because I'm not psychic, but my gut feeling is that we don't get much. It would be a positive minefield of Cosmere info, and Brandon likes to trickle that out instead of dumping it on us (Lift and Wyndle come to mind—whenever Wyndle tries to explain or divulge new info, Brandon has Lift interrupt him or stop paying attention).
  11. I'm so mad about this. First time he's ever gonna come to Fort Collins (to the place RIGHT across the street from my office) and I'm gonna be in freaking England for work. RAGE.
  12. Definitely happened to me when I read the prose. I still haven't gone back through to try to find the Ais case that mentions him, but I do think that this musician is probably the new appearance.
  13. Very much not canon, yep. There are probably some assumptions we can safely make from them, but I wouldn't try to base a theory on it or anything.
  14. Probably from the Liar of Partinel chapters available floating around.
  15. Ah, I see what you meant. I...still don't think that fits with what Brandon said, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'm definitely hoping we get more insight in Oathbringer, since it's pretty much guaranteed that we're gonna get a LOT of info on the SF and NW. It would make sense to have the Unmade get a little more page time, too.
  16. It really sounds like you're misunderstanding what splinters are. Splinters are pieces of Investiture, not something that "gets Investiture" and becomes a splinter. The Unmade are pieces of Odium, which he purposely broke off of himself. It's similar to (but not exactly the same as) Endowment breaking pieces of itself off and giving them to Returned as Divine Breaths.
  17. I can't see Shallan actually ending up with a woman. Brandon's talked before about how he's never written LGBT main characters, just side characters (though he wants to explore that, eventually).
  18. Did you miss the WoB about how the Unmade are splinters of Odium? It is impossible that they could predate him. Whether he directly controls them or not is up in the air (I tend to think he doesn't; that he's still constrained on Braize, and he's sort of trusting them to carry out his work while he's stuck).
  19. Hmm, I don't know if I've ever considered that Frost might be a Shard. I don't really know why I wouldn't have. Maybe it's cuz his organization is called the Seventeenth Shard (whereas whichever Shard he might hold would be one of 16) or what. Hrm.
  20. That would be so, so awesome.
  21. The fact that the Ire immediately assume that Kelsier might be a shade does imply proximity between Threnody and Scadrial. And the cosmere is a dwarf galaxy...that star pattern is visible from most places.
  22. I do believe there's a WoB that we'll get scenes on Braize in the back half of Stormlight. That said, I don't see the Ones Above fitting as Rosharans. If they're purely from one planet, Scadrial makes by far the most sense...but it could also be a worldhopping organization (perhaps the Seventeenth, considering the hands-off approach they're taking).
  23. I find it extremely unlikely Autonomy is not on Taldain itself. And as for perpendicularity location, we have yet to see a perpendicularity for a Shard manifest somewhere they haven't invested themselves. It wouldn't make sense for Autonomy to be floating in space or on the sun, yet have invested himself on Taldain, IMO.
  24. As far as prose goes? Surprisingly far down the list. Definitely above average, but not on the same level as people like Stover, Rothfuss, Donaldson, etc. Brandon's worldbuilding and plotting are his strengths, and he's up there with the best of them in those categories.
  25. IIRC Brandon said there weren't 10 Unmade, after the RAFOlympics at JordanCon. But I definitely might be making that up (my head was swimming with all the WoBs, at that point) EDIT: Not the JordanCon quote I'm thinking of, but there aren't 10.
