  1. You mean Silverlight? I still think it's a Cognitive Realm city.
  2. @Pagerunner Yep, it is.
  3. Very true. It's funny, cuz I was always under the impression that they created the whole planet. I got in a little debate about it recently, on Facebook, and went hunting for WoBs on it, finding that I had made it up. And then Khriss's essay comes out and supports my idea haha
  4. All I know is that Brandon himself said it was named in memorial of someone, so... Could very well be that it was renamed after Ambition went down. EDIT: Interesting thing to note in that WoB. All the planets existed before they got there? Khriss certainly seems to think that Ruin and Preservation created Scadrial.
  5. Humanity could have predated it and not named their system or their planet until worldhopping became more widespread.
  6. No, this makes sense. Their influence was before language was developed, so it had an impact on said development.
  7. I noticed that, myself. My immediate thought is that "prehistory" doesn't mean before humanity, it just means before recorded history. So the Shards could have impacted the cultures that arose before they started developing language.
  8. I asked if Threnody were named in memorial of someone back on the Calamity tour, and he said it was. It was a big part of my theory (now *mostly* proven! Hi, Ambition, you foe of Odium!) that the Cognitive Realm craziness on Threnody was caused by Odium splintering another Shard.
  9. Who called it that Odium killing another Shard was why Threnody is the way it is? THIS GUY. (Though it wasn't a Shard called Threnody, I'm still counting my theory mostly right.)
  10. Despite my general dislike of Lift and the language Brandon tends to use in her POVs (feels way too much like Reckoners, IMO), I'm enjoying this so far. Edgedancers are just cool. Hauka seems like a prime KR candidate. It's good to get that confirmation that Lift asked the Nightwatcher to "stay the same," and that's why she's so childish. Still frustrated by her little chats with Wyndle and the avoidance of giving us information.
  11. If the perpendicularity is on the sun, then how did Khriss get off-world to begin with? Doesn't add up. I think it makes more sense that Autonomy has divested himself (post-Khriss leaving the planet) from Taldain and is trying to Invest Scadrial, so there's no longer a perpendicularity to access the Physical Realm on Taldain.
  12. No, we got confirmation of this a while back. I want to say Peter answered it in a reddit or Facebook thread. i'm also pretty sure the synopsis of AU that popped up on Tor dot com months back straight up said that each system would get an essay from the writer of the Ars Arcana. I don't have the Peter source handy, but I know for sure that we had confirmation for a while before this teaser.
  13. But on Sel access to that power is restricted to a very few people. Khriss makes emphasis on "so commonly" being used by people. Elantrians are definitely not common, since they're rare and restricted to one specific region.
  14. Well, there's a kandra worldhopper. But it does seem from her wording that there has been Hemalurgy used on people from other planets.
  15. Still think it's a Cognitive Realm city. Brandon himself has called it a city, so...
  16. And Nightblood, but that's so specialized it's a ridiculous outlier. There are a fair amount of people on Scadrial capable of handling a lot of Investiture, and while we don't know real numbers of KR, it seems that there used to be quite of few of them before the Recreance.
  17. I read that as referring to the Metallic Arts. Mistborn and full Feruchemists have a TON of potential power at their hands, and even Twinborn are similar to KR with Surgebinding. On top of that, as we've noted, Allomancy provides a relatively easy avenue to Ascension via god metal savantism.
  18. Lol. Yeah, I think we can count out the possibility of space tech. Khriss talks about how Scadrial advanced versus any other planet, even despite the LR's repression. I don't see her making a big deal about that if there were worlds that had space stations before the Shattering.
  19. To be fair here, Brandon did say that it's not a space station. My best guess is that it's a Cognitive Realm city.
  20. That sounds right to me, though I don't know where I saw it. I'm pretty bad with the timeline stuff, though. I thought Shadows For Silence took place way before Mistborn, but I guess it's after Warbreaker, for instance.
  21. I'm actually really excited about that little tidbit. I was planning on going for a WoB on the coming signing tour re: whether fain life and trune rings were going to stay canon
  22. So we got our first mention of Silverlight in the Drominad system intro a few days back, and it certainly seemed that context was a big clue that Silverlight is indeed the Restaurant. Today another intro popped up on Google Play, and this one makes it even clearer: "Indeed, I am convinced that without the Lord Ruler’s oppression of technology on the planet for a thousand years, Scadrial would have eclipsed all others in scientific learning and progress—all on its own, without the interaction between societies we enjoy in Silverlight." Additionally, this really does sound like Khriss is writing from Silverlight itself. It makes sense that she'd post up there during her exile from Taldain, but I hadn't really considered where she lives, before this.
  23. Could be, though there's recency bias here. The Barcelona signing was before this Drominad system sneak peek came out and everyone started fixating on First of the Sun.
  24. I'm holding out hope for this. It's pretty shocking, how little definitive info we have on cross-series timelines.
