  1. Anyone else notice the ding from Galladon's pocket? I wonder how technologically advanced Sel is at this point.
  2. Do we know where old earth is? It would seem that at no one does, right now. Might the Superiority know? They, or their predecessors, would probably know because of their previous contact with Jason. Just wondering if this had been answered before, and if not, I hope to see it in Defiant! Also, I hope it's not a Battlefield: Earth situation...
  3. Right now my order is 1. Rhythm of War. I loved all the Adolin scenes, Maya's declaration, Navani truly becoming a scholar, and, of course, Kaladin. I've seen a lot of criticism about the repeated node fights, but I absolutely loved them. Shallan's plot was also good, but wasn't as good as WoR. 2. The Way of Kings. This one was amazing, being introduced to the world of Roshar. The introduction of Kaladin, Shallan, Dalinar, and Adolin as viewpoint characters was really good. The bridge runs were also really good. Kal's flashbacks made this a lot better, too. 3. Words of Radiance. Not a lot to say about this one, but it was phenomenal. 2 and 3 on my list could probably be swapped, but I did prefer the emphasis on Kaladin in TWoK. 4. Oathbringer. Parts 2,3,4, and 5 are all phenomenal, but I feel like part 1 is quite lacking. I also disliked Dalinar in most of this book, until part 4 (excepting the flashbacks). Keep in mind, all 4 of these are in my top 5 favorite books of all time. Some are simply more enjoyable for me.
  4. Simply put... it is unexplained. I would think that getting spren offworld would be explained in Stormlight, most likely the back 5. I have a theory that Bondsmithing and Elsecalling together - like Bondsmithing and Lightweaving to create the map - could be used to get offworld, but at this point no one knows.
  5. Welcome to the shard. This is a very interesting idea! However, I seriously doubt that Mr. Sanderson would end his planets in such a way. I do think that having the ending to a book or a series could very well be a star threatening to explode, and a wall of investiture or something has to be put up to block it. Possibly a shard has to sacrifice themselves to block it. Your query brings up the very interesting question of what would happen if nightblood touched a black hole.
  6. Yeah, Adolin became Highprince at the end of OB, when Dalinar became king of Urithiru.
  7. I'm thinking that this is referencing one of the bridgemen being killed on one of the bridge runs. Dunny maybe? Pretty self-explanatory, talking about some of the Radiants before the Recreance, noticing that Honor has gone into seclusion as he is dying. It could be that this one is about the Dustbringers, or it could be just about how the singers look to someone who is dying. Humans invading Roshar works really well too. It could be about the extra-tall highstorm in Urithiru in RoW, and how long that lasted. It could be referencing Lift, and her mother. We just don't have much information about this yet. I always regarded this as Dai-gontharnis, or one of the other unmade, but it could be referencing Taravangian, with the Diagram trying to control all of Roshar. This might be an upcoming event, maybe stormlight 5 or 10, the final stand. In Oathbringer, only a few of them actually had shardblades, and so I don't think that is the answer. Watching the Heralds in the Herald flashback books could give the meaning of this as well. I'm actually thinking this is Renarin in the back half of Stormlight. The Tower and the Crown are Dalinar's glyphpair, and the spear is very representative of Kaladin/Bridge 4. Renarin has connections to Bridge 4 and the Kholin princedom, which makes him the perfect person to do this. Picking up the title might be meaning that he has to become Highprince. (But please, Brandon, don't kill Adolin) This seems very evocative of Kaladin's "I'm broken, Syl" comment that he makes basically every book. I'm thinking that this is the end of SA5, because, as we know that Odium would have to retreat for 1000 years, and the gap between SA5 and SA6 is 10-15 years, then they cannot win in this book. Possibly something referencing the moment of despair before the troops show up. Could this be metaphorical instead of literal? Possibly referencing the Council of Nations, which, as a very young thing, could be called a suckling child. I don't know what else it could be, but I really don't like the baby theory. This seems a lot like what Kaladin felt at the end of RoW. Possibly referencing a really hard decision at the end of a book. The phrasing here is very important, most likely.
  8. I think that this is referencing Dalinar and his vision with Honor where he saw Kholinar fall into dust, thus literally fulfilling the death Rattles. I do like the Stormfather dying theory, but I don't know how well the "it's constantly raining" part fits into it. It might be that the highstorms just stop in one place?
  9. Thank you all! This is such a releaf!
  10. So... not sure where else to put this. I'm doing a D&D campaign right now, and I've made a character who absolutely loves making bad puns. Small problem : after 3 sessions, I've run out of my repertoire of puns. Help! For some help, we're adventuring in a forest getting attacked by orcs and varying animals. I'm a human fighter named Aredor, and I am adventuring with a halfling, 2 elves, and a very reckless paladin. Wood any of you care to help?
  11. I don't think anyone's mentioned this one yet... ISHIKK. Also, the Nightwatcher / the Stormfather / the Sibling
  12. Tien is Odium's Champion! We know that Tien was a Lightweaver. Why couldn't he have Lightweaved his face onto one of his friends and convinced Kaladin that he had died? While Kaladin trained, Tien was slowly being corrupted by Odium, and is now convinced that Kaladin is wrong. Either that, or Odium pulled an Endowment and held Tien in stasis to Return him as a fused or just to torture Kaladin.
  13. If you want it, here's a quote from the shardcast interview they did back in July. They're talking about YatNP a little bit, but I've edited out the major spoiler. It seems like there are 2 main factions in this "Cosmere cold war." First, there's Scadrial. Scadrial seems like it's not doing so well. First, in the SotD and the SotD2 preview, it seemed like the Scadrians were more focused with the prize they wanted than with the people they harm along the way. This is also shown in Sunlit Man, where they are more focused on their goal - research - than with the lives that could be saved with their help, which would have been very easy to give! Second, there's Roshar. Roshar, however, seems to be doing better than Scadrial, but that may just be because we haven't seen much besides Zellion and the one person in the SotD2 preview. However, unlike Scadrial, Roshar gave the people on First of the Sun an offer of 1 in 100 birds, instead of Scadrial, which didn't offer them any birds. (If I'm wrong about that, sorry, it's just been a while since I've read either of those.) In the research pod on Canticle, the Scadrians only asked if Zellion was Oathed, and when he said he wasn't, they then were fine with "hiring" him. This seems to say that only the KR are involved in the "Cosmete arms race," which may be good, and which may be bad. Just a final note : we do see, in Sunlit Man, the Rosharan helping the people of Canticle, and the Scadrians harming them by helping the local tyrant.
  14. "Wear the hats or the government will control your thoughts!"
  15. I'd choose Elantris, because magical programming sounds awesome. Also, I could probably 'soulcast' some pizza or good food, and, of course, modern toilets.
  16. I'm thinking that the people on Komashi didn't use silver to destroy the nightmares and/or line their homes because of hion. They would probably know, after ~1700 years, that silver destroys the hion. When they discovered that a certain thing would destroy their energy, it would have made everyone wary of that thing. Hion is investiture. Silver destroys investiture Therefore, silver destroys Hion.
  17. While, yes, it would, Brandon has stated that he's not going to ruin good foreshadowing just because the fans guess what the result is going to be. I think it might be something like Oathbringer, where he hits us with the 1-2 punch, where we can predict one thing, but be completely blindsided by another.
  18. As most have said, Tress Yumi Sunlit Frugal Do note that I haven't re-read Yumi or Sunlit yet.... normally I re-read right away, but I've been taking longer breaks with these.
  19. While Kaladin could end up with honor, I find this result unlikely. Kaladin does not have access to the vast majority of Honor's power, and so that makes it less likely to happen. Also, Syl needs Kaladin, and vice versa. We have seen that when Kal is in his darkest moments, Syl is there to cheer him up. In RoW, when Syl starts to remember Relador, she starts to need Kaladin to cheer her up. I find it much more likely that Dalinar becomes Honor. Dalinar is the one bonded to the Stormfather, who is the largest remnant of Honor's power. Also, Cultivation has visited 3 people that we know of - Taravangian, Lift, and Dalinar. As (RoW spoiler) we can theorize that the same will happen to the other two. Lift has been changed to only accept Lifelight, Cultivation's light. Dalinar was changed to become closer to Honor so that he wouldn't accept Odium, and possibly to accept the same as Taravangian did. You raised some excellent points, though. I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong and you were right!
  20. Kiss Shai, marry Silence, Kill Dusk. Rysn, Tress, MeLaan
  21. Same here... might as well make a random guess. Elend.
  22. No to all the above. 1. This character is married. 2. This character would be considered darkeyed. 3. This character has been to the Cognitive Realm.
  23. But again, why would he need a horse when he can fly? I think the perk could be something like he doesn't need stormlight in gems, he can just reach in to the spiritual realm somehow and hold a bunch of stormlight instantly, but how, why... I don't know.
