  6. I believe that it's a very old Shard meme. You'll have to ask someone who's been on here longer to get the full history, though.
  7. Welcome to the Shard! Here we are somewhat more knowledgeable about a fictional universe than our real one. Would you like a cookie?

  9. I'd think that while he'd love to kill Koravellium Avast, She Who Brings the Dews at Dawn /Stormfather, he'd be just fine with leaving them bound to the System and unable to stop him from murdering the other shards that are alive.
  10. Um... no? I agree that this would be the best strategy for Roshar if they were only focused on themselves, but they aren't. Tanavast wished for Odium to remain on Roshar to protect the wider Cosmere. Dalinar knows this, and most likely the rest of the Coalition knows as well. The humans in this case are taking the essence of what it means to be honorable upon themselves: protecting the others ahead of themselves. In this case, it's not simply "We need to get Odium off of here as fast as possible," it's "We need to try to protect the Cosmere from this ancient primordial being." In this case, they are the best prepared to fight Odium. Also, we must remember that Dalinar literally could have released Odium at any time. He is the only one with the authority to speak on behalf of Honor. In the contest of champion agreement, Odium said that Dalinar could have released him from the ties Honor placed upon him that bound him to the system. Rayse also said that all he wants to do is get off "This miserable planet." Why would the Radiants want to let Odium do what he wants?
  11. I think Nale got his 500 years ago... feels like OB would have the answer. In any case, Nale was going around butchering Radiants long before his chat with Gavilar.

  17. Vin's stating that she'll die the next time she fights a Mistborn. Ham's basically saying "No, you won't die unless he has atium." Hope that helps!

  20. So close. And so far. In Gavilar's case, his problem was never about what words he was saying. He didn't have the proper Intent to gain access to the Surges. That, ultimately, was his problem. As Skar said in his OB chapter, you have to mean what you're swearing to. I don't think Gavilar was close at all in regards to swearing any of the Oaths. He was way too much of a jerk to fit into any of the Orders. He was egotistical, selfish, rude, not even wanting to change. He wanted the Surges without bonds. In essence, he wanted to be a slightly saner Ishar.
  21. Excellent... Here's your cookie! *hands cookie*
  22. I had a great idea last night about the Shallan Side Quest: There's a perpendicularity that leads to the SR, but if it ever closes then she can't ever get out. Adolin and Maya have to defend the gateway from whoever tries to come in, be they friend or foe. Eventually, Adolin will almost be defeated, but at that moment BAM will be released and he'll be able to use Maya as a full Radiant Blade. Also, Yay Adolin Awesome.

  25. What we really need as adaptations are The Eleventh Metal and Allomancer Jak. Obviously. White sand would be filmed in five different ways, giving everyone who watches it a different experience. Kind of like Clue, except instead of different endings, it's randomly generated. So act 1 would be one of five, act 2 would be the same, and so on. This way, there's 125 different ways to enjoy White Sand! Eventually, ten years after the original movie comes out, they will release White Sand Tenth Anniversary Legendary Ultra Maximized Definitive Definitive Edition. This one will be even longer with more descriptive scenes, better special effects, and best of all, another way they filmed it. Now there's 216 different ways to watch the same movie! Then it will be adapted as a TV series. Twice. And a video game. After that, there will be another attempt at a graphic novel. Finally, in 2048, we will get word that Brandon has decided to re-write the entire story, and everything that has been adapted or published will no longer be canon.
