It seems that the intent behind Trellium is not only "opposed" to Harmony but to all other investiture, as the spike is reppeled from all other investiture. It seems to be another hint that Trell is Autonomy. In addition I find it interesting that Trellium can be used to detect investiture which is something that untill now the main way to do was by white sand.
