  1. I thought that "Metal beings" means some constructs similar to inquisitors - mostly humans (or mistwraith) but with a lot of visible metal spikes. Since the seccond era scaddrian don`t know about hemulargy they would assume that the spike are part of the kalkis and not something used to create them. But it will be cool if it is actually awakend objects.
  2. At least Hoid`s healing is can also heal spiritual wounds since he is not afraid from Jasnah`s Shardblase when she returns from Shadeshmar. Also radiants are able to heal from shardblades wounds, even a lot after they happend (Hobber? heald his legs). I don`t have a good theory of why it is possible. My only idea is that maybe the damage is acctually some other investiture interfiering with the soul and the soul itself stays the same and then the healing remove this other investiture.
  3. Gravitation: Creating artificial gravity in a spaceship to allow astronaunts to live there normally without the side effects of living without gravity.
  4. Yes, Brandon cofirmed it. Nice catch - I did not notice it when I read it.
  5. The bullet does have different property inside and outside - its speed. Because of preservation of mumentum it changes its direction. There is preservation of mumentum only in the direction tangential to the "barrier" because there is a force acting on the bullet in the direction of the barrier. It is the same phenomenon that causes diffraction of light when it passes from air to water (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snell's_law). I believe that the reason its direction seems random is that the barrier is actually very rough and the tangential direction relative to the barrier depend greatly on where exactly the bullet hit the barrier.
  6. I believe it does depend on the time it is drawn (there is a good example of this in an apperance of NightBlood in another book, ). It is possible that there is some minimum cost to drawing it so even if you are doing it very fast you still need some breaths.
  7. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/443/#e14300 His immortality comes from the dawnshard and probably include the healing.
  8. In Alloy Of Law the Vanishers are said to kidnapp women descended from Spook - that means that there is still a distinction between people who are his descendents and those who are not. In addition in Shadows Of Self Aradel is said to have no nobles in his anscestry which means he is not descended from spook.
  9. He is an ancestor of Marasi and Steris.
  10. I the visions Dalinar sometimes describes the stormfather as a shimmering in the air - that sounds to me very similar to this description. The stormfather`s atitude toward Gavilar IS different from what we see in other books (and it is written that way intentionally according to the WoB) - maybe that means that after failing with Gavilar he decided to try in an entirely different approach toward Dalinar. From what I saw there are two "camps" in the theories: a) This is the real stormfather and he hides a lot of information in his interactions with Dalinar. b) Gavilar is acctually interacting with someone else "disguised" as the stormfather (some say that maybe part of the interaction is with the real SF and part is with the StormFaker). This camp includes a lot of candidates for the identity of the StormFaker including Ishar, an Unmade (I heard BAM and Moelech suggested), voidspren, Odium. There is an episode of Shardcast discussing this prolouge and those theories where they preffer the Idea that it is the SF and he was lying to Dalinar a lot in the first books.

  12. I really like these ideas and I support the theory that Dalinar holds a dawnshard but the problem with this theory as I see it is the lack of involvement of the sleepless - If the dawnshard was in a mural in Thaylena or in Urithiru we probably whould have seen the sleepless killing anyoone coming close or doing something else to protect it.
  13. They starting developing a method to replace the chulls with weights lowered by pullies like in the hand flying fabrial Kaladin used and Navani suggested using highstorms and a windmill to raise the weights back up after they are used. With this method they could power dosens of airships with the same effort of the powering the Fourth Bridge by chulls.
  14. I don`t think Lirin learnt in Karbranth. He wanted Kaladin to learn there as an oppurtinutiy he never had.
  15. I just reread the Hesina interlude in RoW and there are more facts about her father: * Her father lives in Tomat (city in the Sadeas princedom). * It is implied that her grandfather also lived there (she says the gap in the city wall is there from her grandfather`s time). * Her father does not like Lirin for 25 years (Lirin says that he must be alive because otherwise he would be haunting him as a shade in the storms). * He has a buisness, and has guards (I am not sure if the guards are just to defend the buisness or if the buisness is some kind of merceneries/bodyguards). * He is "stubborn as a lighteyes". * He has a special writ of forebearance from the citylord allowing him to use a sword. I think it means that he is darkeyes and hence needs a special permission for owning a sword. * The citylord of Tomat is accustomed to doing what Hesina`s father bullies him to do for 3 deccades. I think it proves that Hesina is not from Karbranth, but maybe her mother is. Since her father is darkeyes (but VERY high status derkeyes) probably her mother is lighteyes. In addition, probably her mother is dead or not in Alethkar because Hesina and Lirin are worried for her father but not her mother.
  16. Taln and another Herald that died few years before TWOK, maybe Chana if she is Shallan`s mother.
  17. That could have been the case but from the way it is written it seems that Adolin did id because he got mad at Sadeas and let this emotion control him. If he was doing it as a calculated decision to protect his family I would have agreed with it (the same way Jasnah bought assassions to defend herr family) but because he did it out of anger I don`t think it was moral and I was very surprised when he was not punished for it - I ecpeted him to at least get disinherited when it was dicovered.
  18. Might I ask in what sense does Christianity have a consecp of "talking to god"? I am jewish and have never heard that christinity have this consept.
  19. There is no such character in the book. He is describing a hypotetical scenario.
  20. I agree with robardin that becoming a squire could be difficult but I think that a better way will be to give the lifeless a honorblade using them doesn`t require oaths or connection to a radiant so he should be able to gain access to surges with it.

  23. Maybe the different "wavelengths" are differents types of investiture. We saw seekers detect allomancy (=Preservation`s inverstiture) using Preservation`s investiture. And the other example we have of "detection magic" is lifesense which uses Endowment investiture to detect bio-chromatic breath. I am not exactly sure how to understand the spy spren who detect surges in this way. If it is true maybe in order to detect other shard`s investiture you need to use this shards investiture to fuel your magic. so if you could use breath to power allomancy a seeker will get lifesense. Edit: I am also not sure how White Sand works in this frame. So my theory has a lot of holes and is probably wrong
  24. They don`t stop all investiture senses, just investiture detection senses such as lifesense which detect the investiture in other people, and as seen in SA the investiture of spren.
  25. Do we know if it transates to "sovereign"? Maybe the name is south-scadrian.
