  1. @Tesh, Could you try to green-ify this? Either greenify the Ouroboros itself, or greenify the background. Both will work. Whichever one works better for you. (Though if I had a preference I'd like a green background and black Ouroboros.) I personally don't have any serious mental health issues (though some friends *cough @InfiniteInsanity cough cough* remind me that I still need to look after my own mental health anyway). But a lot of my friends and people I know do suffer from anxiety, depression, and the like, and I try to help them in whatever way I can. I'd be happy to participate.
  2. This thread and the girls thread always have the most interesting conversations.
  3. ....You'd better not steal it during Ookla season.
  4. ??? Bookwyrm drifted as his new soul stabilized. Or his old soul re-formed. Something. The darkness tinted his worldview, his powers, his bonds...It was...unpleasant. Or was it pleasant? Hard to tell. He was still within himself when he heard the call of Kaos. He moved to answer, but... A burst of light. The Creator. A small piece of him rejoiced. He shoved that down. Kaos was his master now. And he would quench the Light that now threatened the new darkness. The (now dark) Mysterious Forest Bookwyrm appeared in front of Emma and Lark. "Calano has Ascended," he said. "The Creator is back. What's our plan?" @Nameless* @The Wandering Wizard
  5. "Pancakes because nostalgia or something." - @That1Cellist (Yes, this is actually a quote from the Shard! I'm using the thread like it was intended to be!)
  6. Turns out you can make a pretty good bow out of PVC pipe and some paracord.

  7. No, but many other moons might. Most notably Europa of Jupiter and Enceladus of Saturn, where those subsurface oceans are basically confirmed. In fact, Enceladus has giant geyser plumes of water spewing from it's south pole. The Cassini spacecraft flew through that plume at least once, and detected organic molecules. So it's a rich ocean with lots of good chemicals, and the possibility of hydrothermal vents, which we know support ecosystems unreliant on any star on Earth. So life in these subsurface oceans is highly possible, in theory. Other worlds like Pluto might have subsurface oceans, as well. Really, there's likely water all over the place, so the "habitable zone" which we like to define really only works if you're looking for Earth-like life. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but we can expand our horizons a little.
  8. I'm saying that I don't know what the radius is, but it's enough to kill an elephant.
  9. Titan, the moon of Saturn, has a methane cycle. So it could have methane based life. I personally think ammonia based life would be more probable as ammonia has the polar structure that makes water such a good solvent... The other interesting thing about titan is that it has a bunch of solid water-ice. Once the sun expands into a red giant, the habitable zone will actually extend out to Saturn, and thus Titan. All the water will melt, and the methane will evaporate, making Titan a water world not unlike Earth, where water-based life could evolve. Downside is it doesn't have that much time to evolve before the sun dies altogether. Can't really get enough energy from a white dwarf.
  10. We wouldn't be launching it at lightspeed. That's impossible. You'd need an infinite amount of energy to get a massive object moving at 1c. But as long as you have enough energy you can get things moving at decent clips close to 1c. If we launched a chicken at .9c, or 90% the speed of light, it would fuse with the air it crashed into on a nuclear level, causing a gigantic nuclear explosion and cloud of radiation and death.
  11. By hypothetical types of biochemistry, I had in mind carbon based life forms that utilized another fluid as a solvent to facilitate chemical reactions. Earthlife uses water, but what about ammonia? Or methane? Second topic, who here is familiar with the Loss of Simultaneity?
  12. GAH WHY HAVE I NOT POSTED HERE BEFORE WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT
  13. Bookwyrm switched the thread back to third person as he scoured the edges of the universe. No, not for the sandwich, you narrow minded person. He's full right now. He just had some soup. He doesn't need a sandwich.
  14. Confusion Reigned. And, amongst the confusion, the Ghanderflaffle Empire was rising.
  15. ??? Darkness flooded the world that was Bookwyrm's mind. Memories, mannerisms, connections...swallowed by darkness. The stars continued to wink out, a galaxy snuffed, a universe silenced. Is there anything you can do? He sent to the void as the wave of fading stars moved towards his soul. I cannot stop this darkness, the voice responded. It has too much substance. Backed by a force I cannot counter. I do not have access to the Alignment as I might once have... Bookwyrm accepted the fact within himself. I can give you one gift. What? The power to resist. This darkness is not eternal. You may not be able to resist the commands of Kaos, but when the moment comes, you will be able to stay your blade. Hold yourself back. Save one you love. Tears would have come to Bookwyrm's eyes, were he aware of his body. Thank you. It doesn't come from me. You had this power in yourself. I just helped you realize it. The wave of darkness continued moving, until only the bright star of his soul was left. I'll see you in another time, my friend. Bookwyrm, with his last free thought, sent a message to Calano. Keep going. Then the shadow passed over him, and his soul took on the purple tinge of Kaos. @CalanoCorvus
