  1. Who wants to help me come up with a character?

I've created a Sci-Fi universe detailing humanity as an interstellar species reliant on a strange ability held by a small part of the population known as Starshaping, which facilitates futuristic technology and FTL travel. It's inspired in part by Orson Scott Card's "Enderverse", in that certain worlds or sectors were colonized specifically by single cultures. So I have some planets that are basically uniformly one culture from old Earth, some that hold cultures that evolved over the centuries (this is about 700 years in the future (and I might need to adjust that number)), and some that are "melting pots" of various cultures, creating unique ways of life that are more in line with what you'd expect from a space opera.

I am having a tiny bit of trouble getting started with the story that I want to tell in this universe, but some inspiration from elsewhere prompted me to start another story in the same universe, but far earlier.

I want to tell a story about the colonization efforts to an ocean world called Namaka in the year 2276, as a way to flesh out the world and how it was in the earlier years.

But I need a character. Or a group of characters. A whole bunch of characters, actually.

    Spoiler

The thought just came into my mind to make this an RP but I don't have enough background to do that.

So, does anyone want to make me a character I can write about for a little sci-fi story? Someone who's moving on, braving the frontier of space for a new home on a new planet? Right now in my head I have the planet Namaka being colonized mostly by native Pacific Islanders, but the character doesn't have to be of that ethnicity.

Just a fun little thing that would help me and be fun for the rest of you. I'm also not good at characters. But some of you are. So suggestions are helpful. And so are the characters you make.

I'd probably handle both of those, but thanks for offering.

Now I'm deliberating about whether I actually should make this an RP. I just don't know if it would be interesting. It would probably flop.

I would join in a heatbeat.

  2. Dark Mysterious Forest Bookwyrm felt the attention of a god fall upon them. "He's found us." He summoned his sword of many forms, it's blue metal glinting with a dark purple energy. He extended his mind and took hold of the space and time around him, preparing to use it as a weapon. Kaos energy filled him, fueling his other forms of magic. "Get ready." @Nameless* @The Aspiring Archivist

  4. Our belief is that we can perceive God. Not in a visual, tangible sense, but we believe in personal revelation through the Holy Ghost that provides a testimony that God is real and that he loves us. I've felt emotions, thoughts, feelings, that I can't explain in any other way, things that come from outside my own thoughts, that help me feel an assurance of that existence and that love. But it's hard to explain and describe to someone who hasn't felt it themselves, hence the salt metaphor. That's what I believe, what I've felt, anyway.
  5. "Wait. Keep moving. That's all I can do, isn't it...pushed forwards through time, taking each moment as it comes..." He sighed. "It'll all end somehow." @Nameless*
  6. Bookwyrm nodded. "Though I hardly dare admit it."
  7. "That....I can't answer that question." Bookwyrm looked at his hands. "The voice is me. It's not a matter of belief, it's of knowledge. "But I'm here now. Kaos has shown me the way. Released me...right?"
  8. I've been using this as my source: https://what-if-origin.sciesnet.net/1/
  9. Dark Mysterious Forest "That...something is wrong. Horribly wrong. With who I am right now and what I'm doing." Earth Don't be afraid, child. The future has light in it. I can see it...only faintly, but the light is there. Hold fast to those you love. They're the key to surviving this. The presence faded from Insa's mind.
  10. Really? I think it is. Compared to the "normal" answers you're going to get. The atoms of the chicken moving at that speed would fuse with the atoms of the air. Nuclear fusion. Same thing that powers stars. Nuclear explosion, on top of everything else.
  11. Earth I will teach you. And you won't need your god's help. When you next meet him, start by sending a lance of light at his mind. Lighting, in your case. Then reach out to me. I will guide you from there. Dark Mysterious Forest "It feels like...myself."
  12. Causing nuclear explosions with relativistic chickens is boring?
  13. Thank you! See, @InfiniteInsanity?
  14. Earth Saar...so that is her name. You'll have to introduce us later. My name is Astwyr. A god of Stars, of Time, and of Dragons. I was born of the Alignment so that I could help the Worldseer in his endeavors in these realms. Realms of gods, and of paragons. This Worldseer, not just a Worldseer but the Worldseer, is Bookwyrm. I have the same relationship with him as you have with your Saar, and that many others in your group have with their gods. Despite the brightness of the star that is Bookwyrm's soul, Kaos has overridden his will and tinted that star's light so that he must serve that dark god. You once suffered the same fate. But Bookwyrm expended some of his light to create a constellation in your mind, shielding your soul. The darkness is still in you, and will remain until the defeat of Kaos. But the pure light of your soul, strengthened by his, gives you a way out. You need to do the same to him. Dark Mysterious Forest Bookwyrm stood there for a moment. "Perhaps."
  15. Bookwyrm stood silent for a moment. "I've never heard this voice before," he said. "And many people have spoken to my mind. This one was new. "...And also the oldest and most familiar of them all..." Earth A voice spoke in Insa's head. Young one. I need your help. @InfiniteInsanity
  16. "I..." Bookwyrm frowned at TAAron. "How did you know?"
  17. Bookwyrm nodded. "I suppose." He looked up at the sky, not at anything in particular. It's all coming to a head... And are you on the right side? Bookwyrm jumped and looked around. Who said that? You already know. What? What do you mean? No response. He shuddered. "Sorry," he said, turning to Lark and TAAron. "I'm fine. Just...thinking."
  18. Are there other up-past-midnight people awake with me here?
  19. The (now dark) Mysterious Forest Bookwyrm watched as Emma vanished to somewhere. ...So much for planning our next moves. He sighed. A spike of light drove through his mind. He grimaced in pain, raising his hands to his temples. The darkness in him hated the light; it killed him. And yet there was a part of him that felt joy at the light. The memory. The time that once was. Time... The pain faded. Bookwyrm turned and looked at Lark. "Any idea what we should do?" @Nameless*
