  1. Yral Royalos walked to the meeting place to see...a crowd. "I guess more people sensed my presence than I might have guessed," he said aloud, interrupting the group. He noticed Raijb, someone he hadn't seen since before he left the Order. It was good to see old friends. There were several others; a Mirialan who seemed to be Aria's padawan, based on how she stood, a Jawa who was probably also in padawan training, another padawan aged youth, a Togruta, and...another Togruta. Who did not seem like a Jedi, though was clearly Force sensitive. Yral frowned. "What did I stumble into?"
  2. You have come to the right person. I have found a very nice balance between science and religion. Do you think you could give me some specifics? You could send me a PM if you aren't comfortable with sharing. I'll warn you, it will be a long rant on my end, and I don't have time for it right now. But please let me know what your problems are, and I'll tell you the conclusions I've come to.
  3. Personally, here's how I see it; First, the core of the Cosmere, the main overlying story he wants to tell, that will always be his. Whatever climax all of the big series' are building to, Stormlight, Mistborn, Elantris - the story of Hoid and the Shards, what happened at the beginning with Adonalsium, whatever will happen at the end; that will always be his. Nothing will change that. Brandon Sanderson has the entire epic in his mind, from beginning to end, and he's not going to let anyone else write that. Second, Brandon Sanderson knows what he's doing. This universe is very important to him, and I don't think he'd let anyone else write anything in it unless he trusted them and had a say in what they were writing. I'm guessing he's going to have final veto power over everything Dan writes. Also, he and Dan are very close friends, and so I think Brandon Sanderson knows him well enough to know that he isn't going to ruin the Cosmere. Third, universes are big. Part of why I love franchises like Star Wars is because there is so much; it's a universe so big that there's always room for more stories, and even room for you to imagine your own in. Like I said above, the core worlds, and the core stories, those will always be Sanderson's. But being able to see more planets, more people, more magics and stories, even if they're written by others, that's something I'd enjoy. I'd imagine them to be books like Tress or Yumi; not incredibly relevant to the overarching epic, but wonderful stories in their own right. As long as Brandon gives the okay, and they aren't interfering with the main arc, then I'm happy to see as many of those worlds as I can, as long as they're written by someone who does a good job. I love the Cosmere, so the more I can see of it, the better. That's just how I see it. It might not really assuage your worries, but it's the conclusion I've come to.
  4. Yral sat in the quarters Iphira had directed him to, fiddling with his lightsaber. Right now it was in a simple dual-blade mode, with the easy capability of splitting into two separate swords. There were several other configurations he could use, but he preferred the simple dual blade setup. It gave him three easy lightsaber types; single blade, dual blade, and dual wield, which was plenty of variety in the hands of someone who'd been training as long as him. He didn't need anything fancy. He removed the covers on each side of the hilt, revealing the white crystals inside. He'd killed a Dark Side user many years ago, on a distant world without a name...he'd healed those red crystals. Their bleeding stemmed, they reverted to a clear white color. He still kept his old green kyber crystal as a remembrance from his time in the order, though he hadn't gotten it from Illum like most younglings did. That was another long story. A knock sounded at his door. He quickly reassembled his saber using the Force, then stood to answer it. A young Mon Calamari girl, probably padawan age, stood at the door. "Master Royalos," she said, bowing. "I've been told by my Master to inform you that Master Feisyyd is on her way." "Thank you," Yral said. The padawan nodded with a smile, then left. Yral pulled his saber from the desk and hooked it to his belt, then started walking to meet his old acquaintance.
  5. The Dreamscape The fight was long and brutal. Time began to shift in this incorporeal plane. The future was blurred. I hope it's working... Slowly the Kaos began to worm it's way around the net, threatening to break out... Light. Pure, glorious, wonderful, illuminating Light. The Kaos shifted, glowing with an inner brilliance. Light, in and of itself. It's glow radiated out of him, leaving his mind his own. The net disintegrated, no longer needed. Bookwyrm fell to his knees, dazed. It's over. Yes. Really? Yes. Okay...that's good. The plane began to collapse around him. He reached out with his mind, searching for a dimension to grab hold of. Strangely, the bubble that had once been Kaos's Prison had taken on a very familiar shape... Bookwyrm reached out for Insa's mind, her soul. Hold on, he sent. Then he pulled himself and Insa into the new Clinic. @InfiniteInsanity @CalanoCorvus @The Wandering Wizard
  6. The blue tunnel of hyperspace separated into a thousand streaks of light, which in turn snapped into the brilliant starscape of the galaxy. The planet Tython rushed into view, it's brilliant surface illuminating the cockpit of the Conduit. Yral Royalos changed a few more settings on the ship's system, preparing the ship for a landing. It had been some time since he visited the Jedi's planet of operations. He respected the Jedi in many ways; they were amazing people who did amazing work. Their order...just didn't suit him. Though without being a part of them in his youth, he likely wouldn't be where he was now. As Yral piloted the Conduit towards the main Temple complex, he basked in the feeling of the Force swirling around the planet. It was a fulcrum in the Force, a world teeming with life, and where the ambiguous energy could be felt in it's bright glory... Yral had seen many faces of the Force, but the Light Side always felt the most comforting to him. He signaled his arrival to the Temple as he entered the atmosphere. A voice on the other side confirmed his identity and directed him to a landing pad. He could make out the ruins scattering the planet as he traveled lower, eventually arriving at the main Temple, where many of the Jedi spent their time. He landed the Conduit on one of the outer landing pads bordering the Temple grounds, then began shutting off it's systems. As he disembarked, an Ithorian clad in brown Jedi robes walked up to him. An ornate silver lightsaber hung at their waist. "Yral Royalos," the Ithorian said, bowing. A translator near their two mouths transforming the unintelligible language into a soothing feminine voice. "How good it is to see you! The order welcomes you, as always." Yral smiled and bowed back. "It's good to be here, Master Iphira." "What brings you to Tython?" "I must meet with Master Feisyyd," Yral said, growing more serious. "There's a matter about the war I must discuss with her." Master Iphira nodded. "It might take me a while; while she is onworld, I am currently unaware of her location. You are free to wait in the temple until she is summoned." Yral thanked Iphira, who nodded and walked off. He stood there for a moment, relishing the feel of the Force around him. It has been too long. Then he followed Iphira towards the main temple. @Channelknight Fadran
  7. ...You know, after that whole timeline I think we could come up with our own idea of what happened after the latest defeat of the sith. Like, just come up with our own "sequel" centuries after the fall of the Empire. Where sith come back in some unique way.
  8. Harsh sands make him a ruler.
  9. Sometimes the TRAPPIST-1 system seems too good to be true.

And maybe it is. Maybe it's all just windswept tidally locked worlds without any thriving ecosystems.

But a guy can dream, can't he?

A civilization spread between three or four habitable worlds, huddling together against the void...

A life in that system wouldn't feel very lonely.

That’s the most beautiful thing I’ve heard today, and so eloquently said, too. I think I’d like to have other populated planets nearby.

Not even populated planets. Just planets.

Either sounds nice, when you describe it that way.

  10. I think so, actually...(*cough cough @Thaidakar the Ghostblood cough cough*) TPBM has read more in the Dune series than just Dune.

  12. "Yeah," he said, handing the papers back to Eof. "I...don't know why I didn't realize this before," he said. "I always assumed...nevermind. It's enlightening, to say the least. "But what does this have to do with the orb?"
  13. Okay, I have put up a poll to try to get some basic worldbuilding ideas worked out. I probably should have clarified that we needed to get these basics done before we went all out on ideas, but...oh well. EDIT: Also, people, if you want to join the RP, go help us make it real! Post ideas in the doc, or in this thread! EDIT 2: Removing the 3rd question for confusion. I will clarify once we have solid answers to questions 1 and 2.
  14. Advertising the planning thread to see if anything comes of it.

      Lotus Blossom

I'll check it out! I've been meaning to join some RPs :]

  15. Alrighty. This is the new RP idea that we're going to try to get off the ground. This is the basic premise; each player, instead of controlling one (or more) character(s), will be in control of an entire Great House, a political and military body that has control over at least one entire planet in the universe, if not more than one. This would be a nuanced sci-fi RP experience, where each player would be narrating individual characters interacting and scheming, but at the same time, be controlling vast armies capable of capturing - or destroying - worlds. There are definitely some details that need working out. We have no worldbuilding at all, and I want a fully developed universe for our Great Houses to interact in. We'd have to come up with a system for how such a feudal system came to be, details of House cultures and histories, and a system of in-world rules that restrict the Houses from all out war (at least in most cases). It's probably going to be difficult to get working, but we're going to start planning here. Let me know in the thread if you'd like to participate; we'll include you in the planning process, so that you have a say in the world you'll be RPing in. @Channelknight Fadran, do you think you could make a worldbuilding doc for us to brainstorm ideas and flesh out the ones that work? You're probably in a better position to do that than me. Technologically speaking. Tagging others who've shown interest: @Thaidakar the Ghostblood, @dannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnex, @Veledsier, @SmilingPanda19, @TheAlpha929 Let's see if we can get this to work.
  16. So...there are a few characters here in TLT that are only really narrated by a single Sharder. These include the Narrators, which are usually just versions of ourselves, and a few other ones that are different. Kind of like in the Roleplay section, there's a general rule that you don't control other people's characters. Eof is sort of an important character that's fallen under Nameless's jurisdiction, and Bookwyrm is the Narrator that is supposed to represent me (see my username). If you're ever unsure about which characters are okay for controlling, you can always ask; we're happy to help. Right now all three of the characters in Eof's house are off limits, and controlled by other Sharders. What you could do instead that would be completely acceptable is adding your own character, or making something crazy happen that our characters have to react to. Sorry, I don't want to be mean or judgemental. We're excited to see what you come up with in this crazy land of TLT...
  17. "Ah...I do see it, now." He studied the objects for a moment more. "To be honest, Eof, despite my status as a Narrator, I know precious little about Narrativium...could you give me a rundown?"
  18. So...I know it would probably flop, and I'd need to work on it more...

But what if we tried an RP where, instead of making a character, you made something akin to a noble house, or even an entire planet, for a more large scale political Dune-esque thingy?

So, you might have control over a few main characters, but otherwise you'd be maneuvering politically and militarily an entire noble house, which might have control over several entire planets.

Is that something people would be interested in, if it ever started? Should we focus on RP's that are already going instead? Is it too big of a scale? Are there any people who'd be willing to help me come up with some ideas for it, and maybe figure out a basic plot?

    Gauging interest.
