  1. "I came for the free cats." - @The Wandering Wizard
  2. Island on a Distant World Bookwyrm shrugged. "I wasn't sure. I guess we could check the deeper parts of the jungle for ruins or hidden technology or something."
  3. My brother (who I'll get to join the Shard one of these days) is a big entomology guy.

    He likes bugs.

I've always liked caterpillars and butterflies, to a degree. More so when I was younger.

But today he introduced me to my new favorite caterpillar/butterfly species:

    Spoiler

    The Dragonhead Caterpillar:

Which, in turn, becomes the Blue Nawab Butterfly:

Also, look up "Pelican spider."That was my daily brain break. And my daily dose of horror.

      Edema Rue

      I love caterpillars.

    3. Morningtide

      Morningtide

That is a very pretty caterpillar and butterfly!!!

    4. Lotus Blossom

      Lotus Blossom

Whoa that's such a beautiful caterpillar and butterfly species :0 (Also, apparently pelican spiders only eat their own kind, and don't bite humans... so we don't have to worry about that)

  4. YES. This used to happen to me when I was younger. The thought of just going on and on and on and on without end...it was terrifying. But as I've grown older, and a little more scientifically minded, I've kind of overcome it. Our minds will be so different, and so much stronger. Time, the very thing we're kind of scared about here, will seem less of a movement from one point to the next and more like a spatial dimension. At least I think. Please don't quote me on that. But yeah, time itself will seem different to us no matter what. Regardless, it's not like we're trapped. There will be an infinite amount of stuff to do. We'll have work, and there will always be something new. We'll have our own eternal families, be making worlds...I don't think it'll be bad at all. There won't be a moment where I think: "Welp, I've done everything, now I just sit here for the rest of eternity." Which is what I think I was kind of scared of in the first place. The point where there's nothing left. And that's impossible. So I haven't panicked about it in a long time, because my fears were sourced in a very mortal understanding of something none of us can hope to comprehend. And now I understand it a little better, just enough to know I don't need to worry.
  5. I HAVE THE POWER THIS IS INSANITY AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING I DON'T THINK THIS IS THE COLOR WARS, MORE OF A RANDOM CONGLOMERATE OF COLORS IF THE SEAGULLS COME I WILL BE VERY SAD I'M TIRED AND MIGHT BE GOING INSANE PLEASE SOMEONE STOP ME
  6. Oh come on, Wizard, we all know you're the evil one.
  7. Scud, Calano. I knew where you were going with this and I still read it.
  8. Welcome, Kayk. You're getting a very nice taste of the insanity that happens on the Shard here in this thread. We're glad you're here!
  9. Island on a Distant World Bookwyrm shook his head. "Nope. I don't even know what I am looking for. I just know that it's something." He gazed towards the main part of the island, then looked at the twin suns, which had risen in the sky since he had arrived. "I think we're in late morning, this planet's time. I don't know how long a day is. But we should have a few hours to poke around and look for stuff before nightfall."
  10. Does anyone else here spend far too much time contemplating the plurality of worlds, in a spiritual sense?
  11. Here are a few that I like: Moses 1:33 "And worlds without number have I created; and I also created them for mine own purpose; and by the son I have created them, which is mine only begotten." Abraham 3:22-23 "Now the Lord had shown unto me, Abraham, the intelligences that were organized before the world was; and among all these there were many of the noble and great ones; And God saw these souls that they were good, and he stood in the midst of them, and he said: These I will make my rulers; for he stood among those that were spirits, and he saw that they were good; and he said unto me: Abraham, thou art one of them; thou wast chosen before thou wast born." I like all of Abraham 3, actually. So confusing...but I like it. Romans 8:16-17 "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together." And this last one is probably what I'll put on my mission plaque when that time comes. If I get one. D&C 76:22-24 "And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives! For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father— That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God."
  12. Oh, I was unaware. Alrighty. You can use 0000cc for me. Testing: @Frustration
  13. @The Bookwyrm EDIT: Oh, it did work, just not with the tag. Hang on... @The Bookwyrm EDIT 2: AHA! I thank you, @Frustration, for your generously granted knowledge.
  14. Ooooh. Yeah. She knows about me.
  15. ...Why are people talking about me? Why do people know about me?
  16. Unbeknownst to anyone, those three spikes and their power were coveted by a very powerful being.
  17. Ah, no. Sadly. But it would make sense if it did.
  18. Island on a Distant World "Probably," Bookwyrm said. "There's no way out. There's a barrier; I can't teleport us back to the Clinic. Or anywhere else." He sighed. "This is what I get for running off."
  19. "Might as well head off," Alyxa said. "If we're really working together on this, we have no reason to wait. And besides...something tells me he won't be able to let this rest."
  20. Island on a Distant World Bookwyrm nodded. "The only way to go is forward. Though what I'm looking for might end up being on another planet or in a universe close to this one..." Out of curiosity, Bookwyrm expanded his sense to check the dimensional topography of the area. There were three major universes connected to hundreds of smaller ones. The entire structure was very close to Kaos's prison. Bookwyrm suddenly noticed that a barrier of Kaos's energy surrounded the entire dimensional "archipelago". There was no way out. "Uh oh," he said aloud.
  21. One of the Golden Coin Foil eaters turned out to be an allomancer. A Mistborn, specifically.
  22. Island on a Distant World Bookwyrm grimaced. "It was...perhaps a hasty decision on my part," he admitted. "Now that I think about it, it wasn't the smartest of moves. "Insa and Emma have fallen to the corruption of Kaos. That...broke me. I lost rationality. But I had to do something. Information from the Sixth Archive led to this world, not giving much detail, but I know it has connections to Kaos, and perhaps another Archive. And so I came. To investigate. And, perhaps, to run..."
  23. Avi, still glowing with light, watched as her allies brought forth the best of their ability to fight the wyvern. And something occurred to her. Death knows what they're doing, she thought. They, somehow, have managed to recruit people with some of the strongest abilities in the system. Even if those recruits aren't completely aware of their own abilities. Avi spun into action, summoning constellations of stars to herd the wyvern towards the attacks of the other Acolytes. They came so easily. Whatever power she was being granted by her Starmother, it fed her magic to brimming. Techniques that were normally taxing became simple and easy. She found herself relying on instinct more than normal, applying skills she didn't know she had. And it seemed to be working.
