  1. Forgot to mention, Syl and Kaladin are now able to telepathically communicate, at least a little bit, due to their Connection. Plus the Bleeder and Wax scene you already mentioned. So yeah, strong enough Connection or Connection plus Hemalurgic spike(s) would allow for a form of telepathy. It could also be neat if all of Bridge Four got Hemalurgic earrings and Unsealed Duraluminminds to form a hive-mind, but their Spren likely wouldn't allow for such a thing, even if they had the resources.
  2. Lol Unfortunately, regular Awakening probably wouldn't allow such a thing. But if one could somehow hack together multiple magic systems, convince Harmony that it must be made, or use a Dawnshard to make it, Wayne would totally be innately drawn to it by his Fortune (because Wayne and magic hat = awesome), and would use it to be himself 800% more effective
  3. My good man, you seem to well cultured as well But in all seriousness, Hemalurgy likely has the most potential for gaining enormous power and at a relatively quick rate. If you don't believe me, read this quote from Mr. Brando Sando himself For example, anybody with the right knowledge could steal a Bondsmith's powers via Hemalurgy, then use those stolen powers to forcibly retain the bond. Spooky stuff right there. (But AonDor would be the most powerful magic system in my mind if Hemalurgy couldn't also replicate it's power as well)
  4. Personally, I would guess that Copper compounding would duplicate the memories stored within, since they are a discrete and specific set of things rather than a bunch of raw power like with most other Metalminds. Someone mentioned on another thread once (can't remember who, sorry) that maybe it would have allowed you to "revisit" the memory, almost as if you were there, and that maybe the Lord Ruler used this as a kind of drug almost, remembering the better times when the world wasn't such a blasted wasteland and when he was actually happy.
  5. But it says in the Coppermind "The Spiritweb is the network of Connections and Investiture which make up the soul of a creature, place, or object." So wouldn't that mean that Investiture is a part of the Spiritweb? Plus, there's also the Spark of Life and Innate Investiture which are part of the Spiritweb, as stated in the Coppermind. Guess I'm just a little confused about your statements is all.
  6. Actually, I've been wondering about that scene; Was is just a normal power-level Coinshot (and Skimmer), so if TenSoon's spikes were in his body, and they were invested, how would Wax have been able to sense them at all via Steelsight? Doesn't make any sense to me. Did I miss something?
  7. Most likely the spike would not permanently lose its Hemalurgic charge, as Feruchemical nicrosil doesn't permanently remove your powers. You may, however, be able to use Feruchemical nicrosil combined with Feruchemical aluminum and other powers gained via Hemalurgy to store another power gained through Hemalurgy, then remove the spikes while healing yourself with some type of investiture, allowing yourself to access those powers without relying on a Hemalurgic spike that would weaken your soul.
  8. If an Allomancer is stronger, they not only can burn their metals faster in order to get more Investiture, they are also more efficient. Would the same principle apply to Feruchemists? So, say there was a Feruchemist who had one or more Hemalurgic spikes that granted them the same Feruchemical power, making them into a stronger Feruchemist. If the same rules apply for Feruchemical strength as Allomantic (which I suppose they may not), then they should be able to squeeze more of an attribute out of their stored Investiture. Even if they were already at peak efficiency, which considering how Feruchemy works is entirely possible, if they used Hemalurgy to enhance their own Feruchemical power they should still be able to get more Investiture out of their stored attributes. Since their spiritweb is now larger and more Invested due to having Hemalurgic spikes added, there is more Investiture to divert from themselves into their Metalminds, thus allowing them (assuming my theory is correct) to actually get more of an attribute than they normally sacrifice. In other words, 10% of a Hemalurgically enhanced Feruchemical attribute would contain more Investiture, and therefore more actual ability, than a non-Hemalurgically enhanced Feruchemical attribute. I suppose that this may not actually work, however, and it may just be that you can store more of your attributes at once, which would not be very powerful compared to what else you could add onto yourself via Hemalurgy.
  9. If a duralumin Ferring traveled to Patji and tapped enough Connection, could they gain innate powers tied to that place similar the the animals and plants there? Barring that, could a Kandra or other shapeshifter who traveled there use Feruchemical duralumin along with their shapeshifting abilities to help them form a symbiotic bond with the worms of Patji?
  10. There are limitations on how much one can edit about themselves via Awakening due to Endowment's Intent. However, you can fuel a magic system with another Shard's power. So, if you were to use Odium's Investiture to fuel Self-Awakening, you likely could change a lot more about yourself since Odium's Intent seems to be the opposite of Endowment's Intent; Odium is about caring about one's own self while Endowment is about giving to others. We even see this with the Fused as they cannot seem to do as much as Radiants when it comes to something that doesn't involve themselves.
  11. If a duralumin Ferring were to store their ability to form Connections while a Spren tried to Bond them, would the Spren be unable to form the Bond? Would the amount of Connection stored in the Ferring's Duraluminmind be increased because their is another source that they were potentially drawing from?
  12. A Bondsmith can draw Investiture directly from the spiritual realm that corresponds with the Shard that they get their power from. But if a Bondsmith had accesses to another Shard, for instance, if they were an Allomancer, could they draw Investiture directly from that other Shard via their Bondsmith powers? Could they open a Perpendicularity composed of the Investiture of that other Shard, even if they already have one?
  13. We see in the of the Bands of Mourning that there are Unsealed Copperminds being traded across Scadrial. Honestly, this seems like one of the most expansive ways that culture and scientific progress will be shaped, even more so than the flying boats allowed by iron Feruchemy. If you could gather a group of individuals, each with an Unsealed Coppermind, who would then go and research an assigned topic, you could have them store and give this knowledge with one specific individual who would gain massive amounts of information very, very quickly. This could greatly speed up Scadrial's technological progress, as scientists could gather a significantly greater amount of knowledge on a subject much more quickly, allowing them to expand on that knowledge with greater speed. If you combined this with Unsealed Zincminds you'd be able to throw Scadrial to the forefront of technological advancement in the Cosmere (it kind of already is, but Roshar is getting there too, so they've got some stiff competition). It would also be interesting to see people who's job it would be to gather information in these Copperminds for the use of others and how they would go about it. Would they need to study the same topic twice so that they could remember it? Would special studying strategies need to be employed? How would they prevent their own idle thoughts, biases, and assumptions from accidentally slipping into a Coppermind along with everything else? That last one in particular seems like there could be some interesting complications.
  14. Now, the Band of Mourning were created by Kelsier, who is a Sliver. It may be that this has expanded his potential to use Allomancy due to his increased Connection to Preservation.
  15. Okay, that might be just a LITTLE outside their range of ability. They would have an extremely difficult time trying to sustain that kind of body, even with Feruchemical compounding, and they would also have a difficult time controlling every single part as there would be such a distance between the farthest parts of it's body that it just wouldn't be practical if even possible.
  16. I think that this is a reasonable guess. Not to mention the fact that if you are tapping Identity from an Aluminummind, you will also be extra hard to Soulcast because you will be more invested at the time. I also believe that Allomantic copper may be extra useful to protect one's self from being Soulcast, as Allomantic copper protects you from being manipulated by an external source. This could, then, mean that Soulcasting you would be more difficult because your body is harder to "convince" to change. Hemalurgic spikes aren't particularly invested normally, at least compared to many other invested objects and entities.
  17. I would guess that Dullform is the natural state for a Singer who hasn't properly bonded a Spren to allow for a different, better Form. Because of that I'm not sure that a human would undergo a reduction to their new unbonded state unless the way they are able to grow a Gemheart via Hemalurgy actually works by making them more into a Singer than just by turning them into a human that just has the added ability to grow a Gemheart (which might actually be how it works). That would be pretty interesting though; perhaps Hemalurgy can change your race, or your species, using this method? Maybe you could turn yourself into a Saih Aimian or a Kandra using the same method you would use to grow a Gemheart.
  18. Even if the investiture making up that attribute is made of Endowment's Investiture?
  19. At least it isn't Aon Dor.
  20. Okay, so I had a couple ideas on how to go about this, but I'll just post the most likely and straight forward for now. If anybody really, really wants to hear the other ideas you can ask and I'll post them too. I believe that the greatest opposition to combining Hemalurgic charges is similar to the opposition to creating Unsealed Metalminds with multiple powers; conflicting Identities. When creating Unsealed Metalminds in modern Scadrial, you need to have multiple people who only have a single power somehow combine their powers into a single Nicrosilmind, probably by blanking their Identity via Feruchemical aluminum while using Feruchemical duralumin to create a Connection between the Metalborn. This probably tricks the stored powers into thinking that they are from one single being, and therefore are less likely to interfere with one another. I don't think that you'd need to do that with Hemalurgy though, because there is another much less complicated method of increasing the power of your spikes. Normally you can only take one charge from a person's spiritweb, and they are killed in the process. However, you can heal damage done to your spiritweb by Hemalurgy if you have a sufficient amount of investiture that heals you, such as Feruchemical gold. So, if you give your Hemalurgic donor a large amount of Feruchemical health, possibly though Hemalurgy, you could have them survive the donation of their power or attribute and even be able to regain the lost power or ability. This is key to filling a spike with multiple charges. If you can take multiple charges from the same person, the Identity of those charges won't interfere with each other as they would if you tried to take from multiple people. There will likely be scaring on the spiritweb, similar to Shardblades, even if you have a way to heal, so you may have to wait a period of time between gathering Hemalurgic charges so that your donor won't suffer as much. You'd need to store the charged spike(s) in blood so that they don't lose too much Investiture between charges, of course. One other problem I can think of is that trying to Invest a spike that already contains a Hemalurgic charge with be inefficient, since investiture resists investiture. However, if you were to use very small spikes, probably the size of nails, you could melt a large number of spikes together once you had enough, and presto; you have a Hemalurgic spike that contains multiple charges that won't interfere with each other.
  21. Endowment's investiture seems to be the best at sticking with people and objects that we've seen so far. So if someone make a Hemalurgic spike from a Nalthian, would it decay slower than normal?
  22. It is possible to take a Listener's ability to grow a Gemheart, as per this WoB. However, this isn't an invested power as far as I can tell, it's more of a natural ability to manipulate investiture, similar to the creatures found on Patji and their various cognitive specialties. I think that this would hint that it may be possible to take the shapeshifting ability from creatures such as Kandra or Saih Aimians. This could lead to some very interesting uses, I would think. It seems as though shapeshifters are largely immune to the flesh-shaping side effects of Hemalurgy, so you can give an artificial shapeshifter Hemalurgic spikes containing human attributes without turning them into mindless monstrosities. If you figure out how to fill Hemalurgic spikes with multiple charges, you could make someone superhuman as long as they have the spikes. Not to mention the fact that most shapeshifters (i.e. Kandra, Saih Aimians, and Dragons) are ageless, or at the very least age very slowly, which would be a nice benefit. It does make me wonder which specific metal would take a shapeshifter's ability though, assuming that it is in fact possible. I would guess Hemalurgic duralumin, by taking their Connection, would allow you to rewrite your spiritweb to think that you were born a shapeshifter would be the best bet though.
  23. Honestly, I think that Endowment is the closest to being Odium's opposite. Endowment is all about giving of one's self with no strings attached, while Odium is inherently selfish and cares only about itself.
  24. Kandra can hide themselves from most things by changing their appearance. However, it may be possible for a Soulcaster to find a Kandra hidden amongst the people of society by peering into the cognitive realm; it works on the Masked Ones, so why not a Kandra disguise? In addition, a Soulcaster could likely kill a Kandra by Soulcasting their body into an inanimate substance. Or, if they're feeling particularly evil, a Soulcaster could change the metal type of the Kandra's spikes, which would likely render them unusable by the Kandra, dooming them to insanity.
