  1. I just thought of this today; Forgery on Sel is basically just rearranging and creating false Connections, and overwriting your spiritweb. What you are, at your core of self. If a Bondsmith can alter your Connections in a similar manner, that would be terrifying. First of all, Forgery is very limited in what it can accomplish because it has very little investiture to work with. Bondsmiths, however, have access to more raw investiture than any other radiant, meaning that they may not need to rely on believability like a Forgery, they can just change themselves, or you, in any way they want. I can now envision a scene like this happening with Dalinar or Navani “Oh, you’re a 7000 year old Fused? Well, we wouldn’t want you to benefit from all that time training, let’s just remove the Connection to that time, maybe give it to my Windrunner over there. He’ll make much better use of it.” They also might be able to hack any magic system, since they can just rewrite their past to say that they gained access to it. Seems really, really powerful. Assuming that this is even something that can be done, of course.
  2. Thank you for finding it for me! Not going to lie, I spent over forty minutes trying to find it unsuccessfully.
  3. They use a ritual chanting to determine their bone twists; they don't need to cut you open, it happens more magically. They need to sacrifice people to fuel their magic, at least to initially create the bone twists. They must also be Fjordellion, or at least have a Connection to that land.
  4. I couldn't find the quote again, but it said that Hoid, specifically, was bound to Roshar by his Bond to Design. I'll look some more when I have the opportunity.
  5. I'd love to see Vasher as a Shard. That would be awesome
  6. A radiant can break the Bond with their spren without killing them. They'd just need to return to Shadesmare or Bond someone else. It would be pretty cool if you could put spren in Metalminds though
  7. If Kelsier isn't a Fullborn, then how would he have made the Bands of Mourning? The biggest number of powers it's been confirmed you can put into Unsealed Metalminds via the Exisors is three. So how would have Kel done this if he wasn't a Fullborn already?
  8. The radiants are stronger than the Fused, at least in the short term. That seems to be pretty clear if you look at the fights between the radiants and Fused, radiants simply are more powerful once they've reached a certain ideal, as we've seen radiants like Kaladin, who is about 20 (actually about 27 Earth years, but that's still pretty young), reliably beat Fused who have 7,000 years or so of experience. The only way that this could reasonable happen is if radiants are much, much more powerful. I'm pretty sure there are only two reasons why the radiant's forces haven't won the war yet; the Fused, while weaker than radiants, can't be killed permanently using the knowledge the radiants had at the time of the Desolations, and the radiants don't want to exterminate the Singer (Listener? Don't think that there is a catch all name for their species) race. Also, I'm not so sure that the Fused's powers grow with radiants. It feels like they'd have to be Bonded in a special kind of way with each other in order to make something like this work, and based on how much they fight against each other, I'm not sure I see this happening. I'm open to new ideas though, so you might be correct and I just don't know what I'm talking about
  9. Apparently, Hoid is now stuck on Roshar due to his Bond with Design. But if he is a Feruchemist, he could overcome this by storing his Lightweaving and Soulcasting abilities inside a nicrosil metalmind, then compounding those powers, which would replace Honor’s investiture with Preservation’s, thus allowing him to leave. Well, that and he’d also need to break his Bond with Design, but that would be comparatively simple (if somewhat selfish and traitorous).
  10. Wouldn't that be the same thing, since there is less of Preservation in Harmony than Ruin since it's invested inside the Scadriens?
  11. Yeah, I saw that too when I was writing my post, so I just called it Adonalsium's metal. It's probably just a funny little coincidence though, but it's possible I'm wrong.
  12. True, I suppose, but they could still compound a bunch of one attribute, then switch out medallions, then compound another attribute. When they need to use different powers in a more active situation, like combat, they can just use an Unsealed Metalmind that grants them the Feruchemical powers for the compounded attributes since the fuel has already been gathered. It's very possible I'm worrying about this too much, but compounding just feels like one of those McGuffin level powers to me, so it's a bit disconcerting to think that it might become commonplace.
  13. Well, I mean like if you went shirtless, could they be made subtle enough to not be noticeable unless someone is doing a physical on you.
  14. HA! A true example of insanity. Good ol' Dalinar
  15. Is it possible for a Dakhor to be made so that their bone twists are hidden within their body so nobody can tell that they are Dakhor? Could they be made smaller so that they are subtly hidden from view, even if they don’t provide the same level of bone armor? The fact that Steel Inquisitors didn’t actually need to have spikes driven through their eyes in order to grant their powers comes to mind; they did it for intimidation and distinction, not subtlety. Could the Dakhor be doing the same thing, deliberately making their bone twists larger and more visible for intimidation and distinction (aside from the armor feature, of course)?
  16. For example, if I were to have access to Feruchemical chromium and I say “well, considering that Fortune is a normal attribute that people have that is just so weak it isn't noticeable, I probably need to tap it at like 50 times the normal amount”, how much time would I need to spend storing at 50% my normal capacity in order to gain one second of time tapping at that speed? I know that there likely isn’t a straight answer that can be given right now, but I’m the kind of guy who is super frustrated by not knowing the numerical value of what my magic can do, or at the very least get a general idea of what needs to happen to make what I want to do make work.
  17. The Bands of Mourning allow for this to work, but they’re a special case. From a meta viewpoint, it feels far too powerful an ability to just hand out. Even using Hemalurgy to gain access to compounding require sacrifice, but if you could gain that kind of power without the cost? Not only that, but if people can make these so that they have compounding available, then why would anyone make an Unsealed Metalmind that doesn’t allow compounding, since those abilities would be so superior to non-compounding abilities? So, would Unsealed Metalminds made from multiple people, the way they are typically made, just not allow this to work? Or are we just going to see a lot more compounding in the future?
  18. It's probably possible to manipulate things such as your height and bodily structure via Connection, but I think manipulating Identity is a more promising prospect for anyone trying to physically change their appearance. This is actually what the Singers and Listeners do when they change their forms, so altering your height a bit, your skin ton, or even giving yourself epicanthic eye folds like the Alethi shouldn't be outside the realm of possibility if you know what you're doing. I don't think that regular Breaths would allow for physical manipulation as that seems more of a Divine Breath's domain, but Self-Awakening might make it achievable; we just don't know what is fully possible yet with that power. Since Vivenna has the Royal Locks, she possesses a portion of a Divine Breath innately, which is why she doesn't stand out so much in Oathbringer; she can just change her appearance to fit the natives. Anyway, hope this answers your question!
  19. I think that it's more there cognitive aspect that is given added protection from things like emotional Allomancy. They might be especially protected from being Soulcast then, as their cognitive aspect would be much harder to manipulate, but that's just my thought on the matter.
  20. If you could hack together the systems of Awakening and Feruchemy, I would think that this could be achievable, though difficult.
  21. I mean, normal shardblades can cut or at least inturupt steelpushing lines, which manifest as spiritual Connections, so Nightblood destroying Connections isn't that absurd. That just made me think though; if someone tried to steelpush on a person wielding Nightblood (not the sword itself, some other metal on their body), could the person wielding Nightblood just sever the Connection used to push on them? Could the Coinshot immediately reform the Connection, then continue to push on them? Or would there be some kind of more permanent damage done?
  22. Sounds like it might be that Sazed is more concerned for Scadrial than other worlds, which would makes sense because many people are more concerned with their own countries and people than others; he could be biased in regards to this. Which sounds like a character flaw that he could grow out of as the story progresses. However, it sounds more like he really just wants the people of Scadrial to be able to survive and not be enslaved as they once were when other worlds begin to travel the stars, hence the reason he wants them to advance as quickly as possible.
  23. I actually imagine there being a spanreed of sorts that does something like this someday. I would be a difficult endeavor to be sure, but an awesome one.
  24. All godmetals have a special property, such as raysium conducting investiture and Tanavastium alloyed with Cultivation's metal making shardblades. I wonder what Adonalsium's metal would do?
  25. Sounds like my kind of girl
