I was considering the nature of Bonds in the Cosmere when I had an idea. If you were to give a Koloss a large number of Breaths (lets say, at least a thousand), then take them to Roshar and Bond them via they're Hemalurgic weakness, would be person who Bonded them gain powers? We can see from this WoB that going to Roshar while possessing a bond other than that of humans and Spren could potentially provide powers to someone, which I think supports this theory.

Huh. I hadn't considered that, but yeah, neither Vin nor Wax have weird Hemalurgic warping's happen to them, even if both of their Hemalurgic earrings most likely contained Allomantic powers rather than more seriously transforming human attributes. So, maybe the Investiture of a Hemalurgic spike containing an Invested power doesn't always shift your anatomy around, maybe it only does it if the spike is driven deeply into the body, and the ear is too shallow?

If you burn a Metalmind, you can either gain the Feruchemical power from the metal, or the Allomantic power, but if you choose the Allomantic power then the Feruchemical charge is lost, not used at the same time. (I'll see if I can find the quote later where I got this)

Perfect Gemstones as Feruchemical Storages?
Trusk'our replied to Trusk'our's question in Cosmere Q&A
I suppose that would make sense, as the metal acts as a focus for the magic as well as a storage. -
Perfect Gemstones as Feruchemical Storages?
Trusk'our replied to Trusk'our's question in Cosmere Q&A
A perfect gemstone can hold more Investiture than a non-perfect gemstone. Rhythm of War chapter 87 informs us of this (also, this can be seen in the Coppermind Wiki). -
Could Shai make Kaladin a soul? [Discuss]
Trusk'our replied to S. Stormy's topic in Cosmere Discussion
TLDR; yes, it should work as there are tools that exist in the Cosmere that would make it possible. But it would be very, very hard to make work in a practical situation. PS: I enjoyed this question, and the challenge of making this scenario work, please make more- 2 replies

Retrieving Breaths After Spiking An Awakener
Trusk'our replied to Trusk'our's question in Cosmere Q&A
I made the victim of the Hemalurgic spiking in this scenario an Allomancer because it made sense that the Hemalurgist would want to spike them, and it would be guaranteed that the Hemalurgist would be able to attach a enough of the Allomancer/Awakener's Identity via the Hemalurgic spike (one that contains a power, not a human attribute like the ones that will turn you into a Hemalurgic construct such as a Koloss) that they would be able to retrieve the Breaths from the Awakened object, similar to a Feruchemist's Metalminds. -
Yeah, there's enough that isn't known yet about the mechanics of advanced Hemalurgy that really it could go either way Brandon wanted it. I'm just that kind of person who can't stand not really knowing how something works, so I try to piece it together in the most logical way possible until I see proof that counters my way of thinking.

I thought he meant if you made a Koloss from an Allomancer and then taught them to use their Allomancy then they could use it. Plus, the Coppermind Wiki says that there are Koloss Allomancers in era 2, and I'm not sure that the Koloss have done much experimenting with Hemalurgy other than to add to their numbers.

Let's say an Allomancer were to go to Nalthis and buy him or herself a healthy number of Bio-Chromatic Breaths, then get attacked by someone trying to Hemalurgically spike them. The Allomancer/Awakener Awakens their cloak to try and protect themselves, but their attacker manages to spike them and give themselves the Allomancer's power. The Hemalurgist then retrieves the Breaths from the Cloak because they have enough of the Allomancer's Identity to grab the Breaths. If the Hemalurgist were to lose their spike, would the Breaths taken from the Allomancer/Awakener stay but be un-commandable, dissipate, or remain pretty much the same as if they had gotten them through normal means?

Explain Cosmere things badly
Trusk'our replied to HOID WANTS INSTANT NOODLES's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Hemalurgy: "So, you're saying all I need to do to use telekinesis is to take one of my grandma's knitting needles over there, impale that guy over there with it, then stab myself through the eye, and it'll somehow work?! And you think I'm crazy?!" -a sane human being selected from the streets of Elendel -
It's been confirmed by Brandon Sanderson that a Koloss made from an Allomancer would retain their powers, but may not remember how to use them.

A Question About Hemalurgic Power-Stealing And Regular Human Spiritwebs
Trusk'our replied to Trusk'our's question in Cosmere Q&A
It would be a waste because you'd get a charge from the person but wouldn't be able to effectively use it on yourself are you saying, or because it wouldn't get any Investiture at all? Because honestly, I was just trying to come up with another way to get an Invested sword that didn't need to be made of a metal other than steel. -
Hemalurgy always has a physical transformation involved (with the exception of Kandra and probably other shape shifters). All spikes move your organs around so that you don't die by having them implanted into you. Spikes that hold human attributes rather than powers cause bigger changes, such as with iron spikes granting extra human strength and the creation of Koloss. Since Duralumin takes a person's Identity and Connection, I always envisioned the big physical change that it would cause would be to make you look like the person you charged the spike with, although that is just a guess, so you may be right that you'd need to do more work than I suggested than to transform someone.
-
A person who has had a piece of Spiritweb removed from them does not have to die, as is confirmed via WoB. So it's not impossible to survive being spiked, but you'd be in pretty poor condition if you weren't healed through some use of Investiture, such as Feruchemical gold or the Surge of Regrowth.
-
Okay, that is a fair point. So, I suppose that a Hemalurgic spike would mostly depend on whether or not they count being implanted in a person as being directed enough to not need to gain sentience.
-
If you stole a Dakhor's powers via Hemalurgy, would your bones twist and grow to reflect the power, or would you have the power but without the bone twists since an Aon Dor (and presumably some other Selish magics) can have their physical structure messed up but still function?

Would A Full Metal Still Be Able To Cause A Hemalurgic Injury?
Trusk'our posted a question in Cosmere Q&A
If a Hemalurgic spike or other piece of Hemalurgically viable metal were filled with Investiture already and someone tried to fill it with another Hemalurgic charge, would the person they stabbed still have the chunk of Spiritweb removed and have a spiritual injury, or does the Spiritweb piece not leave the person being spiked if there's no room to hold it in the spike? -
A Question About Hemalurgic Power-Stealing And Regular Human Spiritwebs
Trusk'our replied to Trusk'our's question in Cosmere Q&A
I meant specifically a steel sword, as that would be the most reasonable metal to work with. Would a steel sword (Hemalurgic steel taking physical Allomantic powers) be able to receive a charge of Investiture from a normal person with no powers, even if that charge didn't grant any powers if implanted into someone? -
We know that if you burn a Hemalurgic spike that you splice the sDNA inside to your own. I had always imagined that as swallowing the spike as is done traditionally with Allomancy, but what if you instead were to have the spike already piercing your body before you burned it? Could a Koloss made from a Lurcher, for instance, burn their spikes (assuming that their donors blanked their Identity when the spikes were charged) to sort of "seal in" the enhancements and alterations made to them, freeing them from the danger of someone controlling them via Allomancy or Shardic power?

I read this quote and it got me thinking, "huh, so most people on Scadrial have some power in themselves, just not enough to manifest an Allomantic ability". If this is the case, could it be possible to give a Scadrien an Unsealed Goldmind filled with plenty of health, spike them multiple times Hemalurgically, then forge the spikes together to create an Allomantic, or possibly even Feruchemical, power from non-powered people?

If a Rioter Misting wanted to, could they cause a person direct pain or sickness just from their Allomancy?

A Question About Hemalurgic Power-Stealing And Regular Human Spiritwebs
Trusk'our posted a question in Cosmere Q&A
If you were to take a steel sword and attempt to charge it by running through a regular human with no Allomantic powers, would the sword still receive a Hemalurgic charge by ripping off the piece of Spiritweb that the Allomantic powers would normally be held in, or would it not receive a charge at all? -
I was wondering about Navani mixing Investitures with different Intents when I had a thought; what if you were to mix Bio-Chromatic Breaths with some other investiture, and then retrieve the end result? You might have to worry about the end Investiture not being retrievable, but maybe you could command the Breaths to Invest a Gemstone with the explicit instructions to return to you. Perhaps that would work. It also might be interesting to see if the resulting Breaths would alter the effects of your Heightenings, as they would no longer be composed of Endowment's Intent, but at least you would have more total Investiture in your system.

Your Identity acts as a barrier that separates your Spiritweb from the outside influences, and it's been stated by Brandon Sanderson that if you were to remove your Identity that you would be more susceptible to outside influence. So, if you could perhaps non-lethally spike out a person's Identity, and then give them a Duralumin spike containing a Hemalurgic charge taken from a person or creature you want your patient to physically resemble, maybe you could use this as a method of changing someone's body to appear different or have different abilities, but only need one spike to accomplish this as their Identity would not interfere with any physical transformation that would occur.
