Well, there's a numbered list in the original post so.. Besides your other calculations would have to hinge on your count of total number of players, so I'd assume you'd make sure you knew the total before jumping into calculating. I do think I'm grasping at straws (xD) though. I'll keep my vote on you until more people tell me that I'm over-thinking or Striker answers my question. You'd have to ask them, but I think they would have answered this question a looot of times already xD I think Araris thinks that despite all the suspicion and all the careful planned voting, it's more likely than not that we end up lynching a villager. So might as well vote for a random player and see how it turns.
-
Yeah, I'd agree that it's important to distinguish between a different opinion about optimal play versus intentionally trying to hurt the village. I would even go so far as to say that elims might try a little harder to conform to what is considered helpful in the current meta than villagers do. So people doing things I disagree with often (but not always) lands them a very slight village read, at least at the start of the game. First of all, I find it hilarious that Araris would capitalize and correct everything Orlok said while quoting him xD So basically there's a lot of discussion about role-block vs. redirect, and the consequences and a redirected kill or a role-blocked kill. I'd not like to spend much time on the topic as I do agree with Sart that this topic is distracting us. Just that the players shouldn't jump to conclusion that their target must be an elim if they block/redirect a kill as someone rightfully said, this is a game filled with redirect/role-block surges. Keep a close eye on them, maybe disclose it to someone you absolutely trust, and if/when they act more suspicious, by all means, go after them. We would not want to lose a Skybreaker/Dustbringer, and on top of that, the role-blocker/redirecter since 'going after them' requires them to out themselves to the thread. I don't feel Ventyl would try the same thing twice if he was an elim. He also would have simply role-claimed in PMs rather just giving it out in-thread that he has a KR role. But, I do think Matrim is right to be apprehensive about Ventyl, since Matrim did in fact fall in to role-claim tactic by Ventyl in the previous LG. If you fall for a particular kind of trick, it's only natural to be cautious the next time you feel something similar is happening. For these reasons, I would not like to lynch either Ventyl or Matrim in D1. A good point from Lahilt. Since our (Elbereth's :P) current tactic is to focus all the discussion among the people who are active, it gives the elims a good reason to just lay back and let us discuss. The only vote on a player not yet posted is Ventyl's on Joe. Yes, I agree that for discussion sake, pressuring the people already here is a good way to get some reads, but at some point, we have to give the inactives some attention too. Speaking of, @xinoehp512, @Lord_Silberfarben, @Eternum, @Frozen Mint, @Fifth Scholar, @Zillah, @A Joe in the Bush, @Illwei, don't feel shy guys. Join in! (Also, if you're busy, please just drop a post. We'll stop pinging you, and you can join when you're free.) Gears, why did you feel compelled to vote on Elbereth specifically? Just because someone asks you to vote on them, doesn't mean you should. As far as I know, she asked you to vote on her because you said you wouldn't be against lynching her, but your vote on her seems strictly based on Orlok's suspicion on her. Do you not have someone you suspect that you'd like to vote on? Besides, a vote on her doesn't provide us anything because any village will hesitate to lynch a discussion-driving playerin D1, and obviously if she's an elim, her teammates won't vote for her. This seems to be a weird one. Are you voting for someone just because of a difference of opinion on the mechanics of the game? From my point of view, Gears is absolutely right is wanting to be cautious of suspecting your targets if you're a role-blocker/redirecter. Usually, yes, your point would be a rather reasonable assumption to make, but this game would have like a plethora of roleblock/redirects, and hence I feel Gear's apprehension is a reasonable one. To jump on him and telling he intends to spread paranoia seems a little excessive. Yeah, I made the same the point in the previous game (QF45, Gears' first game here), but I can confirm that it's usual (or as usual as you can ascertain from a single game) for him. I'm not sure about lynching Gears solely on the basis of rubbing you the wrong way, or the fact that he wrote a rules analysis before the game began. That's Araris for you. That's Orlok for you. Annd, that's Devotary for you. Now for my suspicions: This seems very odd. You would know the no. of players if you looked at the players list, and it seems that you had. You even knew the correct no. of players but suffixed it with an (ish). Why? If you had chosen 20-ish or 25-ish , but you specifically chose 24, the correct no. of players and downplayed your knowledge of that. Why? This may seem nitpicky, but well, elims can let slip the smallest of things even subconsciously, so nitpicky I shall be. Ashbringer. This seems like an oddly specific question to ask, An elim-y question even. Is there any specific reason you asked this?
-
She voted on Matrim. PS: Will likely add to this post if no one posts something after this.
-
Well she did say it was to generate discussion. Basically to get people talking, and to see whoever defends/attacks me or is/isn't interested in lynching me as that info would be useful later. Is that your intention, @Elbereth?
-
Well, if you want discussion from me as to why you shouldn't lynch me, I think I've been helpful for the village in the games I've played so far, and there's no reason for me to get lynched before I can prove to be helpful. Unless of course you're an elim, in which case you'd obviously not want me to be helpful
-
Thanks Straw. There's a grand total of 0 characters for me to adapt. xD I'll come up with something. A word of caution for the Refugee Dustbringer and/or Skybreaker. Be very very careful in choosing your squires, if at all you're choosing. We really do not want to give the elims an extra kill even if it is once per 3 cycles. And yeah Gears, rule analysis is xino's thing xD @xinoehp512 what are you going to do? Edit: Bah, Ash's ninja was on point.
-
Yup, that's what I was asking. Whether a retaliatory kill would be better, or a double extra life for the cycle. I wouldn't give double extra life permanently for the rest of the game though.
-
Well yes, I kinda wanted to have all the basic 8 boosted by duralumin. Wouldn't be fair when the player asks to boost pewter with duralumin, and for me to reject it with no good reason. So, I was planning for Pewter to have a retaliatory kill for a cycle if it gets boosted by duralumin.
-
Huh, I always imagined the Thug ability as instinctively (and automatically) burning pewter when attacked.
-
Yeah, I figured. I don't know why I feel compelled to make everything related to the books xD I had initially thought of it that way because I forgot about atium + duralumin xD Now I'm not sure if I should allow it or not. It feels too big a thing to say "you can't do that". I'm actually leaning towards not allowing it because I cannot think of an effect that wouldn't be OP. I had always intended Thugs to be passive. That way, Mistborn would not die too early.
-
Got some (more) questions: Should I include malatium only for Vin? It would be once per game and it would give out the entire history of actions of the target. Too OP? Mechanics for Atium + Duralumin? Avoid all attacks on you for the cycle? Seems OP on top of the Thug ability. Would give them 2 lives. Just disable it? Mechanics for Thug + Duralumin? Retaliatory kill along with protection? 2 lives for the cycle?
-
The other scan abilities are definitely better the Archivist one, with full control over whom you can target, like the Tineye scan. Yes, it becomes a little more useful when there are less people but it's nowhere near "absurd". It's the same with other scans as well, with lesser people to target near the end. It actually compensates for the useless information received in the earlier parts of the game. At least 4 times, I've received information that was worthless or something I already knew. It doesn't exclude inactives as well. I've got info like - "Emi didn't target anyone", "Magestar didn't target anyone", "Karnage did not take an action", and the likes. So including information you already know via Archivist seems unfair to me.
-
Yeah, basically what Eternum said. Here's one - this was the first game I went through to get an idea about SE. Bard made everyone Tineye, and there were like 6 different types of Tineye, with most of them giving inaccurate results xD And no one knew it at the beginning. @Kasimir, I've got a few questions. What can we do in the first cycle? There's no kills or lynches. We aren't in any rooms, so we cannot search. Are we only voting for the rooms in the first cycle? How does the voting for rooms work? Do we all move to the room with the highest number of votes, or do we move to the rooms we voted respectively? Are there any actions we can perform other than searching? Feel free to PAFO any or all of them if they are a part of the secret.

And you get to watch people pocketing someone else, good idea xD Let me just ask to be added to the GM PM. I was going to ask anyway.

Hey, I found this google sheet with all the names of all twinborn combinations. Now obviously, it isn't official, but it's fun to check the all the possible combination. I was, apparently, a Loreshot. A lot of these makes sense, actually. For example: Coinshot + Spinner = Coinfluke, an unnaturally lucky coinshot, which I quite like. You can find it here.

I agree the Bulletproof vest was too low-priced. I mean, I did attempt to buy it twice, (and technically should have got them since there was no rule stating we couldn't buy multiple no. of the same item ) I would have been alive for a loooong time.
-
So, cancel Soothed votes. PMs are off. Change the elims wincon. Atium mechanics is a bit clunky. Thugs are fine. Have a Cett Mistborn without Atium, Duralumin, or both (I won't tell which though, since a Seeker could eliminate Cett Mistborn if they find someone burning 2 metals). Yeah, that was only for canon reasons, keeping Sazed and Tindwyl in mind. I'll make it a normal role. Perfect, thanks! Edit: Added in Gneorndin Cett as the Cett Mistborn in the original post.
-
Aha! I was right about @Eternum. Though, major props for gaining the entire trust of the village. @Ashbringer, I knew you were being more inactive than me! I wanted to attack you for it, but since you defended me for the same reason, I felt bad doing it. I should stop feeling bad while playing SE! Good first games for @Gears, @The_Truthwatcher, and @MysticLotus. Lotus, I found your RPs funny xD Hope to see you all in more games! @Orlok Tsubodai, thanks for running this. It may have been vanilla, but it was still chaotic and fun.

Well.. not exactly what I had in my mind. So they would not be told that they were Rioted or Soothed. But if a player is Rioted, and votes for a different player next cycle, their vote moves automatically to the one they voted last cycle. Similarly, if a player is Soothed, and votes for the same player next cycle, the vote moves to a different player, possibly one chosen by the Soother. Is this bad? Should I just tell them they were Rioted or Soother? I hadn't thought of that xD. I mean, it's only one cycle, I probably could, but yeah, it would cause some problems. Avoid all actions on them seems a little too over-powered, as they already have a passive Thug Ability. My idea was that they could know what attacks they were facing, and prevent the most dangerous one. I'm planning to just give them the info of all attacks on them placed till the point they use Atium, and not update them after that. This makes them choose the optimum time to use atium during the cycle. This.. probably should have been a secret, seeing as now everyone will probably put in actions at the last moment OR They burn atium anytime in the cycle. I give them all the actions on them so far. I also give them the actions placed on them as and when I see them. They have an extra 10 minutes after the rollover to put in their actions. I think I prefer this one. Yeah, I dislike it because it will make it easier of the other teams to guess the no. of teammates remaining. Also, the pairs system will result in a elim kill votes also being in clusters of two, which I dislike. Could I have A-B B-C system and still have the PMs open? Surely they'll be paranoid that villagers will pull the "Hey I'm an elim, and I know you're an elim" move, so they'll likely distrust any alignment-claim, but I'm not sure. Planning on a hazekiller role who is immune to all types of allomancy, and can protect one player from all types of allomancy OR A Mistborn who does not have atium and/or duralumin, like Ash suggested. Which one is better? Hmm, I was thinking they couldn't completely control the lynch because they wouldn't know their teammates, but I suppose they would have deduced their teammates by then. Unsure about this one. Yes, it's for the whole game, but I'm kinda rethinking the Thug role. With 2 (possibly 3?) Mistborn in the game, that's already 3 double lives. I'm not sure of the implications of any more double lives, probably the game will be too long? Is it fine? Basically the Archivist role from Striker's game. Target scan, inverse target scan, role scan. Not alignment scan though. Well, for that, first of all, everyone should think like you. Secondly, as the vote is a huge 1-1-1-1-1-1 (for example) tie, and everyone is an elim, no one would die, and the result of the vote will not be revealed. Planning on making Vin unable to burn the same metal in two consecutive cycles. How about that? I think I was going through a game a while back. It had Metallurgists who could make different flakes of metal and send them to whoever they want. Not sure of the number, or the format of the game. Maybe Straw knows. Question. If the Seeker targets a Mistborn during the Cycle they burn atium/duralumin, do they see both the metals burn, or one at random, or just the basic allomantic metal? I'm leaning towards both. Thanks for all your feedback. I'll go edit the questions in the original post to which I have answers.

Hmm, might not be feasible as Zane might die before that cycle. Not the vote itself. One of the voter gets assigned as the killer for that cycle. Should I let them use their role action along with elim kill as well? As for the Cett faction, I was initially planning to have Allrianne Cett have a powerful vote manip role (original Rioting without self vote cancel) but I realised it might be too powerful. Thanks for the feedback, Matrim. Please do reveal it Pyro. xD

So... I think I went a little over-board. MR##: Lode of Luthadel Luthadel is besieged by the armies of Ashweather Cett and Straff Venture! They are here for the Lord Ruler’s rumoured Atium hoard, and they will not stop until the city is theirs! Factions: Eliminator Team Mechanics: Eliminator Kill Mechanics: Roles: Faction-specific Roles: Mistborn-specific Actions: Basics: Order of Actions: Questions: Thoughts on the new Rioter and Soother roles? They are fine. Should the mistborn be given an extra action in the cycle they burn atium as well, to react for the information they receive? Yes. Should Zane be able to select the metal which is boosted by duralumin? Give him the random metal for the cycle, then let him decide if he wants to use duralumin or not. Are atium and duralumin over-powered? No. Are the mistborn themselves over-powered? No. Should I change the A-B B-C system of elim identity chain to A-B B-A chain in order to keep the PMs open? No. Should I have a normal action for the person who happens to submit the elim kill as well? No. How should the voting for the elim kills be revealed to the elims? If the vote is: A (5) B (3) C (2) Here, do we reveal the identity of the players (A, B, C) the elims voted upon? Or just that “Player A had 5 votes and were attacked”? Reveal the killed player. Are the team balanced or is the Cett team a bit weak due to the lack of a Mistborn? Add a faction-specific role or a Mistborn, or buff them during distribution. Is the wincon fine being last team standing for all the factions? Nope, change it to make the elims win when they outnumber the sum of the other two factions.
-
You're talking about PMs during games? Well, there's no special etiquette when it comes to using PMs. Just behave like you would in-thread. Different games have different PM rules. If you want to start a PM for the game you're currently playing, add the player you want to talk to, and GM and co-GM. As to when they are useful, well that's for you to decide. You could use it to start alliances with other players to plot. Or to relay sensitive information that would not be suitable to reveal in-thread. Basically, it's your wish to use however you like.
-
Hmm yeah, voting sounds good. Though I could do a mix of both, because I still need to have a single originator for the attack, because if not, elim kills would be invisible to target scans. So, voting to determine the target, and a random elim who voted for the target to be the attacker?
