  2. So we have 100's of WoB's mentioning the nature of investiture being something like this: There is Matter, there is energy, and there is Investiture, right? But they are actually all the same thing. Matter and Energy are expressions of Investiture. Ruin states that his intent "To Ruin" is not the same as erasing, in a way, it is transformation. Taking something complex and grinding it down into something simple. Entropy. So I believe, as it is intended, Feruchemy converts the energy of the user "storing" into a form of investiture in the metalmind. In that act, they are ruining that energy by converting it into investiture. You ruin wakefulness by taking that energy and being tired, you ruin speed by taking that energy and being slow, etc. etc. The fact that the Feruchemist get's to store that energy for later use is of course, the preservation side of the magic. EDIT: So in response to your question: I believe the actual feruchemist is the one powering the magic. There is no use of preservation or ruins own investiture involved, other than perhaps making the metalmind operate in the first place, or bestowing the capability to do so into the spiritweb of the feruchemist.
  3. This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
  4. The Nightwatcher gives you a personal copy of the Journal of Economic Theory.
  5. Hoid quickly began eating the waffle off of Ara's face, commenting on it's fluffiness.
  6. wins strikethroughedly.
  7. Thank you both! I've added you to the Alpha-Reading list as well!!
  8. Granted, you now know how to speak any language. You are now Blind and Deaf as well. I’d like to have everything I ever want, whenever I want it.
  9. Hey all! I’m starting my next Era 1 reread today (3rd time through Era 1) and wanted to hear from you all about specific things of note I should keep an eye out for! Things you already know about, clues you think might be present in a theory of yours, and anything else of interest. I’d love to hear it all!!
  10. Hey now everybody, how about we just take a moment of silence in this thread... by moment I mean a couple 1000 years. Sound good? ready. set. go!
  11. So? The new shades obviously retain some things from their past. (MC’s mom shade never attacks her) The new cognitive shadow’s Perception (capital P for a reason here) could easily influence how it acts.
  12. Honestly I think Justice can't be a shard because too many of thwe current shards could combine to become Justice. Honor and Odium together are viable for a combination Shard known as Justice (Like Harmony). Honor and Preservation are another, Honor and Ambition being a third... Honor is just too similar to Justice for me to believe Justice would be a separate shard. I don't think Wonder or (as stated above) Justice would fall into the list. Wonder seems... well i guess... not very divine, to me. The other 4 however, those are really good. I wouldn't be surprised if you hit those nails on the head. Add Humor and Wisdom and that's the 6 I would bet on. Very Good points. Faith or Hope seem like safe bets. I think Hope is more likely, I don't think the shards represent what they want from people, but rather, their own intents. Why would a primary attribute of a god be faith? Faith in themselves I suppose... but Hope just seems a more likely case. I'd honestly be sad if Humor wasn't one of the shards. Wisdom is practically confirmed by Brandon in a WoB. Hoid's conversation with Shallan about Wisdom was almost definitely him speaking of a shard. I like this Ingenuity/Creativity idea a lot. I think we'll definitely see a shard of that nature. What artist can resist writing about the main attribute that aids their craft?
  13. Honestly? He'd just become my executive assistant.
  14. I just lost the game.
  15. "Permanence is a subjective term," said Hoid. "but I'll take it." Hoid gave the Ninjas the most anime fight stare you could ever imagine.
  16. It will be very cool if this happens. I know Brandon can do it, but obviously we don't want him to rush it either. So I'm not going to be devastated if it needs to be pushed to early 2021.
  17. That happened with me too. Campaign 2 you’re starting when the players are so it’s a lot different. You get invested in the characters! Then C1 is worth watching because you love the people playing (And the characters do grow on you. Incredibly so... it just takes a bit more time)
  18. Okay I see what you’re getting at, the only thing that wigs me out is the mechanics of one are so different from the mechanics of another. We need Sel’s version of Teravangian!!
  19. I choose to believe it’s a conspiracy set up by The Brandon Sanderman himself. We can’t know about Vax. We arnt even meant to speculate
  20. So, is your suggestion here that Forging and AonDor just require different symbols to access on different areas of Sel? If so, I agree with you But do you also think that Forging and AonDor are capable of doing the same things? Because that's where I would take issue. They are vastly different in what they do. Just trying to understand. Like you said, it's mostly just a semantics issue which means we could describe them as 1000 "systems" or 1 "system" and be right both times, but on a fundemental level, if we're going to call AonDor and Forgery part of the same system, why is that different from combining Allomancy, Feruchemy, and Hemolurgy into one system by definition? Is there something intrinsic that separates the metallic arts but doesn't separate the Selish magics?
  21. I agree. It's what all of this is leading up to and the Cosmere is going to be the first of it's kind as a fantasy series/universe that runs the gamut from Medieval Kingdoms to Sci-fi Space Operas!
  22. Well, when i say ~30 I'm considering each Surge a separate magic system. (I say that because Brandon himself referred to them that way) Either way though, If surgebinding is of Honor and Cultivation, arn't fabriels as well? They do something very different. And what is Honor's magic system then? WoB's and Kriss's essays have confirmed that Darkside Taldain has it's own seperate magic system. My point is that our only example of Shards limiting themselves to one magic without help from another shard is Mistborn and perhaps Warbreaker, while we have plenty examples of the opposite being the case. I think it's really up to the Shard how much magic they want to put into the place that they are investing.
  23. If every human who becomes a shade believes shades are afraid of pigs, every new shade becomes afraid of pigs. This could even be an explanation for why shades hate fire, spilled blood, etc.
  24. What if they replaced magic with technology? Their forms of space travel could be solely scientific, or based on magical devices from places they've world-hopped to.
  25. So I like webcomics and everything but maybe ya'll could refrain from saying anything more about them in this thread, in fact, maybe everyone could just stop having fun in here and never post to this thread again... after my post here of course...
