  1. Point taken. I forgot about the fact that Ferrochemists existed prior to TLR. I cant shake the idea that one of the southerners said that none of them knew the metallic arts, but maybe that was just in reference to Allomancy? Either way, if everyone is part Terris, then a massive copper-net should still work with Nicrosil. and I still wouldn't be surprised if the nicrosil made it possible for other-worlders to utilize it as well. It wouldn't be the first time a shard's magic system was able to work outside of the people born into it. Anyone can become an awakener, Hoid bonded a spren, and I'm certain we'll see other examples in the future. It's not like being Terris makes you a Ferrochemist, and we've seen non-ferrochemists use these. In fact, it's their entire reason for existing.
  2. You've convinced me. Roshar really is the most likely case in that regard. Especially considering all the emotional impact that Odium has had on them. I wouldn't be surprised if future Roshar is highly averse to any sort of emotion based invested art.
  3. Well, thats definitely possible, but it would mean that all the southern scadrians have terris blood as well, otherwise they wouldnt be able to use them. Also, I just looked up how they are made "The Sovereign" gave them devices called "excisors" to make the medallions. https://coppermind.net/wiki/Excisor
  4. It's not clear how they are made in Bands of Mourning. It's been awhile since I read it last as well. But any person, even someone with no metalic arts can access the unsealed ones. If I'm not mistaken they were taught to create the Unsealed metalminds by "the sovereign". Either that or he gave them a stockpile of them. Anytime
  5. Haha Heres a quote from coppermind on the subject:
  6. True but add a little Nicrosil in the mix and its suddenly usable by literally anyone. If it's just copper and has the identity removed then it is unkeyed and only usable by another ferochemist with the ability. If it's mixed with Nicrosil in some unknown way like the souther scadrians coins then it is considered "unsealed" and it is usable by anyone.
  7. Well, she promised them that but who knows how much she gave away. Command phrases might not have been part of the deal and with that much breath involved the commands make all the difference.
  8. Renarin - I think he either cures his spren's corruption, or he dies. His death would set some things in motion rather quickly for almost every POV character.
  9. I think you just figured out how to save Roshar from Odium, my friend.
  10. True, It also could just be that he wished to burn Brass at an event like that because well, thats exactly what a Mistborn does at parties. I'm going to go back and read that chapter though. There might be a specific reason for his allomancy there and I'm interested to find out. I'm very curious to see if Hoid is somehow involved with the other worldhoppers/cosmere knowing individuals in Stormlight. I'm starting to find it hard to believe he wouldn't know that the Ghostbloods are somehow linked to Scadrial and/or the strangeness that is going on with Amaram's group.
  11. Ahhh! Thank you! I never caught on to why he did that but now it makes so much sense. I guess that could explain how he knows Kaladin and Shalan are Radiants too.
  12. Ambition or Autonomy... If it were an option to somehow merge them I'd do that. What would that shard be called? Free Will? Hey now... everyone knows I'm not a shard
  13. So I was scrolling through the coppermind and found this interesting WoB: My interest is specifically on where Brandon says we've seen people using Allomancy in Roshar before... I'm wondering if anyone has theories or thoughts on this? The only thing I can think of is that perhaps Mraize or one of the Ghostbloods is a seeker, and that might be how they found out Shallan was a lightweaver. Honestly though that just feels flimsy and I think when Brandon says we've seen it he means it's something that a viewpoint character actually witnessed. Nothings sticking out to me though.
  14. Thanks Traveller! I can't stop reading all the great theories and threads here. I can tell it's going to be a good time!!
  15. Halfway through my first read-through it was my least favorite cosmere novel, by the end it quickly jumped in quality in my eyes. That was on the first read-through... on the second it is now one of my favorites. I think the reason I had a bad reaction to it initially is because the first third of the book is absolutely nothing like I expected it to be based on the prologue with Vasher. Going into it a second time with some perspective changed my mind about it entirely.
  16. Welcome! I'm new too and really excited to get to know everyone!! Trust me. Brandon's work only gets better!! You'll have no problem breezing through those books when you can get the time to do so; and you'll want to give them all a second read right after you finish.
  17. Hey everyone!! I'm a long time Brandon Sanderson fan (especially related to the Cosmere works). I discovered his books about 4 or 5 years back after watching his writing lectures on youtube and realizing I needed to see his work because he gave me the best advise I'd ever received on writing in those lectures. I have read all of his published Cosmere Novels and short stories [with the exception of the White Sand graphic novel because I can't find it anywhere for the life of me ] and have read most at least twice over (I'm debating between rereading Elantris or Mistborn Era 2 next because those are the last novels on my list for a second read.) Some personal information about me: I'm a freelance filmmaker and am currently in the process of writing my first novel, its an adult fantasy centered on a young man whose adopted father and sister go missing, thrusting him into a journey he never wanted to go on and leading him to learn about a secret organization of magic users who have been controlling things in his country for as long as it's been in existence. That puts him in a key position to change the country alongside a band of revolutionaries who wish to tear down the corrupt council that takes advantage of those with power for their own gain. I've known about the community here for almost as long as I've known about the Cosmere, (and can I just say, Im SUPER thankful to everyone who put together the amazing coppermind wiki. It's my go to resource for cosmere lore.) but for some reason I never joined as a contributer until today... so I'm excited to get to know everyone here and have some epic discussions about Brandon's Epic work! Any tips you all can give me for navigating the forums and sticking to the rules are appreciated! See you all in the cognitive realm
