    Anyone else here watched The Owl House? I just saw the first episode and I think I’m in love. The characters are all likeable and the world feels so vibrant. It’s great because usually when characters are chasing a strange creature and accidentally follow it into a magical universe I’m like “what are you doing?? Look where you’re going!!” but the main character’s just trying to get her fantasy book back which is 100% a valid reason. Also the dialogue is amazing: “Plants! You are now under my command!” “No, my only weakness: dying!” “AND I PRACTICE THE ANCIENT ART OF FANFICTION!”

    Although it’s not exactly what you’re asking, this WoB talks about what would happen if he gave up Ruin but was still alive: Since he was separated from the Shard at death, I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to assume that something similar to the situation above could have happened. Additionally, he seemed to have some sort of amnesia when we see him in Secret History, so he could’ve been confused (especially with Kelsier yelling at him) and chosen to go to the Beyond to escape that situation.

    This acquaintance wants my opinion on what fantasy book they should read next. Should I go on an hour-long tangent about the cosmere and lure them in with the promise of cookies? I had to eat it before anyone saw. Wouldn’t want it making a mess around the house.

    I think there’s a demo of Fire Emblem Awakening still on the 3DS eshop, which might give you an idea of the combat aspect of the gameplay if you have a 3DS. Other than that, I’ll echo what @Use the Falchion said above. If you do end up getting the game we’d love to hear your thoughts!

    It depends on what you mean by “including LGBT+ characters”. Brandon has two gay characters, but I wouldn’t personally say that his books have good representation, as those two characters are very minor in the scheme of things. Lots of books do this, and it’s still rare to find a queer lead or major character, especially in fantasy. As for the list, I don’t think there would be anything definitive out there, but I think it’s worth noting that for every one book with positive explicit queer representation, there are many more with no rep or negative rep.

She had been considering joining the red team — it was always better to be on the same side as the person with the sword — but she had a suspicion that breaking the rules would be frowned upon. But still, only 15MM? She could make that in three hours. “You know,” she began, sliding towards the blue team leader. “15MM isn’t much, if you think about it. Why don’t you make it fairer and split the 1000MM between the whole team? I’ll consider joining if you do.”
