I don't think more fuel would boost the Surges, at least not in the sense of supercharging them: Surgebinding is regulated by Ideals and a lot of the Surges were altered by Honor to be less destructive. As for using Nicrosilminds to store Stormlight, I think that should work, assuming we've got things right about what it does.

Welcome to the Shard! Oh wow, not trite at all, that's new and that's a good one, . Yeah, I'm really happy with the direction Brandon has taken with Venli, though the flashbacks are not as great as Way of Kings or Oathbringer, mostly because we already knew quite a bit about the Listeners from Eshonai & Venli's interludes in the prev two books but the insight into their character & motivations was great. This isn't Rhythm of War spoiler boards so can't go into more details than that. Hope to see you around on the forums!

Confirmation that Dalinar is the Dawnshard of Unity?
Honorless replied to Crucible of Shards's topic in Stormlight Archive
There was something about Nikli not wanting her to Bond a spren, wonder what that was about Maybe it's inactive somehow, maybe it got damaged? Hence Odium saying "we killed you". I'm still more for Unity is Dalinar's interpretation of Honor's Intent but I'm open to this idea. -
Confirmation that Dalinar is the Dawnshard of Unity?
Honorless replied to Crucible of Shards's topic in Stormlight Archive
It could've been that Tanavast was the previous Dawnshard, and with his passing & subsequent merging of his Cognitive Shadow with the Stormfather, Dalinar inherited the Dawnshard via his Bond. Dalinar doesn't need to be more powerful than Ishar as a bearer of a Dawnshard, because Rysn isn't either. Apparently she couldn't use the Dawnshard (https://wob.coppermind.net/events/444/#e14333) -

Brandon's Web Presence - How to Easily Find His Reddit WoB's
Honorless replied to DeJeR's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Thank you, @DeJeR! Sometimes Brandon reveals something and many of us miss it because not all of us are on Reddit and discussion about newly revealed stuff mostly happens on Discord, and people don't know to check the Arcanum for new stuff, it also takes time for the Arcanist staff put the info there -
Oh no

Quite a bit of it is publically available actually, https://www.brandonsanderson.com/dragonsteel-prime-chapter-25-bridge-four-1/ this is including the bit about attacking the Spiritual to destroy the Physical (which can specifically be found here: https://www.brandonsanderson.com/dragonsteel-prime-chapter-37-bridge-four-7/

Axies is probably just notable due to being one of the mythical Aimians who's relatively easier to keep track of than his brethren

It's a mystery. There might be more to the story that will get revealed later on (maybe Honor started plan 2 after this and plan 2 led to his death, might be something to do with the Oathpact itself or the larger pact between Honor & Odium), or the answer is a rather mundane one that can be guessed: that the truth would've done great harm to the Rosharan human society that was starting to rebuild itself after so many continuous Desolations, and the lie was holding up: as Taln was holding up.

Non-Published Canon Magics
Honorless replied to Criggleworth's topic in Sanderson Curiosities & Unpublished Works
Might be. But not necessarily. Holding any significant amount of Investiture tends to affect people, which might explain his policy of isolationism based on how one perceives the idea of autonomy. And the Skycolors/Shifting Colors might provide some method to immortality, a lot of Invested Arts do. I don't think Darkside being a "magic is in nature" setting, rather than a "people using magic" setting goes against that, First of the Sun falls in the latter category too, with an Avatar of the same Shard. He could also be a Cognitive Shadow: their minds are affected by the Investiture that they are tied to and they are effectively immortal. -
Just finished the White Sand prose, some thoughts on it
Honorless replied to LewsTherinTelescope's topic in White Sand
Definitely would love to see Ais as a woman in the White Sand prose version of the world. That would be super interesting for her character. I rather loved Kenton. His struggles might not have been as poignant and stuff as some other Cosmere characters, but a lot of it was very relatable for a younger audience, imo. Very coming-of-age. -
We don't even know how terken works: is it like aluminium in gen or aluminium in Allomancy, is it like a certain something in RoW, is it like a Larkin or Leecher, so it's difficult to tell. Sandlings are definitely breaking the square-cube law, I'm thinking they're Invested and it should be a continuous effect that can be detected by black sand? Cosmere doesn't have a one-and-done kind of magic fuel when it comes to breaking the laws of physics, those cases all required continuous application of Investiture as far as I can recall. Rashek, on the other hand, I think no, it's not a continuous process but it does still require Investiture so the Spiritual Identity doesn't do a self-correction on the Physical body. Besides it's Feruchemy, I think this would require Connection hack to access the Investiture from the metalminds. No idea about the Kandra. I think Sandlings are Invested, so I say yes, Seekers can sense them. Can Seekers sense an entire Shard? They can sense Perpendicularities but an entire Shard (or close enough to it) might be a bit much. There's a possibility these it might be too high frequency for them to be able to detect. But I think that they should be able to do it. We haven't seen them do anything on a comparable level because entities like that haven't really been seen on Scadrial, and the Shards themselves are mostly in the Spiritual Realm, Taldain's sun is in the Physical Realm. Hmm... could Vin detect Ruin whenever he manifested a body?

Interesting question. Would that destroy their Physical or Spiritual (& Physical, because if you destroy the Spiritual, that'll reverberate down to the other realms from what we know of Dragonsteel)? If it doesn't destroy the objects in the Physical Realm, only their Cognitive aspects or "minds", what effect would that have on the objects? What would happen to the people, would their flames be affected? Would they turn mindless? What would be the effect of an irradiated Cognitive Realm? Keeping in mind that the Cognitive Realm does have Physical materials, people can breathe there: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/332/#e9512) What happens to the Investiture, how does it react?

The Path and yes, as all the new Scadrian religions share some major myths/historical events from Sazed's records

What arcane effects can an Awakened entity have?
Honorless replied to Oltux72's question in Cosmere Q&A
Good question. We don't really know much about the workings of Awakening. It seems to work in some primal way, given the focus on Commands. Honestly, I think Awakening might just be an Anything power, bounded only by perception & imagination, and the amount of Breaths required. -
Still don't like the way how you think of the spren. They might not be human, but they're definitely people. Regardless, the Sibling viewed human lives as worth less, was consistently rude & demanding. The Stormfather might as well be an inflated balloon with that ego, his measure of the worth of a human life is even worse. The Nightwatcher routinely curses desperate people. I rest my case.
-
Wanting to believe is a separate thing, imo. I want to believe there's an afterlife too. Too many people die young and/or have messed up lives for me to like that part of the "death is the great equalizer" idea. Do I actually believe in an afterlife? Honestly, I really can't. We're self-sustaining patterns. When the pattern is lost, we are lost. The flame doesn't really go anywhere when it goes out. Yada-yada. Agreed on the rest of it.

Nightblood in the Cognitive Realm
Honorless replied to Loialty loailty loailty's topic in Warbreaker
Might be answered in Nightblood (the Warbreaker sequel, tentative name), might be answered in a future Stormlight book perhaps. If I had to guess, I'd say Nightblood would still just look like Nightblood: a sword. Why would he have a different perception of himself? He's not a spren, so he doesn't have to have a humanoid body in the Cognitive Realm. -
Huh, y'know I'd actually be interested in reading that AU

Ask not whether Navani is worthy of Bonding the Sibling, ask if the Sibling is worthy of Bonding Navani. Seriously, the Bondsmith spren act so petulant, I can't even. And the Nightwatcher might be even worse than the Stormfather or the Sibling as she apparently doesn't have any Connections to Roshar to influence her perception. As for scientific aptitude, we all read Rhythm of War, right? Navani's main role might indeed be to fund research instead of conducting research but she's clearly capable of it. And her political aptitude is also something, she basically ran the kingdom for both her husbands. As for Anti-Light, she may not have been the first to create it, but it's not like she plagiarised off of Gavilar.

Those are very good questions I think either Harmony & the Kandra provide him with the necessities, or he has an in with the Sliverists or perhaps even the Survivorists, via his brother.
-
Survivorism was probably his way of continuing to fill the religious gap in the new society, as he was planning in the Final Empire, along with a way to mold the future generation and give himself a bit of a power base. As for his personal beliefs, I don't think he has any. He aligns with being agnostic in his belief about the possibility of the existence of (a) higher powers(s) and an afterlife during the Final Empire. Meeting Leras, he wasn't exactly feeling very charitable towards the entity and had no desire to venerate him. Or any other god, for that matter. How he sees faith is quite apparent in his plan, I think. He sees it as a social structure, that's it. As for gods, they are just powerful entities to him. Even understanding Preservation, he only felt empathy, as well as a "okay, so can I use this to my advantage?" His life was a hard one, where he had plenty of cause to hate the very idea of a god. God either existed and let all this happen, or god is personally responsible for all this and needs a shanking (though I don't think he really thought of the Lord Ruler as a god in any way), or there is no god. His death gave him perspective on the gods/Shards. He even became a god for a limited amount of time. I definitely think he's an atheist by now.
