  1. Welcome aboard!
  2. We don't know anything about Vax, except that it's a place that has its own a investiture system (from the Arcanum Unbounded) and that both Leras and Ati know it (from Secret History). WoBs regarding Vax are RAFOs.
  3. It's from a different fandom actually, Sterek
  4. I think most Mistborn went for pretending to be Coinshots because of the versatility & maneuverability, it's good for a fight & good for a getaway. The Mistborn were assassins & at most, fought in small skirmishes, so they'd prefer something like this. Iirc, Vin mentions that most Mistborn are better Coinshots than they are Seekers or Soothers, etc.
  5. We do know a bit about the roles that the Orders played & their general dispositions to one another. Truthwatchers & Elsecallers were the scholarly Orders, the latter also often acted as ambassadors to Shadesmar & took care of perfect gems. Edgedancers weren't just field medics but also sometimes peacebrokers, probably due to them often attracting the spiritual type of person & also often being quite "refined & articulate". According to the new info Truthwatchers & Willshapers also often went to conflict prone areas. We know that the Windrunners & Skybreakers often didn't get along. That Dustbringers had a bit of a reputation problem within & without. Bondsmiths were often revered. Willshapers at the time of the False Desolation were starting to get a reputation for being capricious. Windrunners and Stonewards, both being soldier Orders were often assigned together.
  6. Nice to officially meet you! See you around, man!
  7. I think it's more likely that the gem contained a Voidspren, perhaps Ulim, which would explain how he came to be on Roshar to work with Venli. It might also have simply contained Voidlight. It requires a perfect gem to capture an Unmade, with Ba-Ado-Mishram, I think it would take a truly grand gemstone.
  8. Welcome aboard! Go read Warbreaker! And Emperor's Soul!
  9. Maybe it's their Resonance
  10. Welcome aboard! All solid choices, those books, except the Gentlemen Bastards, the next two books are a disappointment, and much like George R R Martin and Patrick Rothfuss, he too is stuck.
  11. Hmm... Spiritual Tension strikes again? Could also be that Cohesion covers particle vibration to some degree, we know very little about the Surge of Strong Axial Interconnection. Or maybe I have it backwards?
  12. I don't think he'll use the same solution again. Besides, something would need to contain Odium's power even if he's Splintered. I think we'll see some wonky stuff in this one.
  13. You mean Trell? Who knows, but there's this:
  14. Hmm... I mean I kind of want it to be Autonomy at this point after all this hype... Oh are we still considering Endowment? That's the Shard that let Nightblood be created. And it is "let", because: And then there's her letter So she doesn't like two Shards on a single planet, and is willing to "deal" with anyone who becomes "an issue". It would've been fun, but sadly: ... unless it is two Shards attacking Scadrial & Harmony, that is
  15. A bio nerd? Welcome, welcome You could also join the 17th Shard Discord (if you're interested, of course) Theories, you say? Don't forget to put the Shard's resources to use then. There's the Coppermind wiki, plus there's the Arcanum which contains questions & answers that fans have asked Brandon over the years regarding his works.
  16. The Well of Ascension was Preservation's own Perpendicularity, which he was using to imprison Ruin. Preservation did do some weird stuff to the Well, but that's not relevant right now. Ruin's Perpendicularity was below the Pits of Hathsin. The Horneater legend might either be just a myth, historically inaccurate or the "gods" might've been spren. I think it's just Cultivation's Perpendicularity before the Horneater "Oceans". Perpendicularities of Shard with opposing Intents would probably not form naturally, if this is possible, which I think it probably is. We've seen powers mingling before, in fact all Shards were one long ago, so it's probably possible.
  17. It was. Hufflepuff, eh? Better remember the right barrels!
  18. It's... fair We've seen a group of murderous Skybreakers, their murderous Herald, and Szeth, who's also pretty murderous They're extreme examples of following this Order's precept. But looking at their Ideals, they have the potential to be good people like anyone else. I rather like their system of Ideals actually, which I was not expecting.
  19. Welcome, welcome That would make you a Ravenclaw, yes? Then answer this riddle: It cannot be seen, cannot be felt, Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt. It lies behind stars and under hills, And empty holes it fills. It comes out first and follows after, Ends life, kills laughter.
  20. His profile pic? It's from Guild Wars, I came upon the background theme on YouTube, while scrolling through some game music
  21. Hmm... 7, I think These are hilarious, PG, good work!
  22. I would guess so. During the Battle of Thaylen City, Szeth confirms that Shallan's illusions of people feel the same as the screams he hears, (which are apparently impressions of people's Spiritwebs) and Pattern confirms that she was Connected to those people. Iirc, both instances can be found in the chapter The Spear That Would Not Break
  23. I've also noticed that the idea gets some disdain. Heck, even with the you_people channel on Discord, people just assume that some kind of weird perverted stuff goes on there. (It, in fact, seems to be mostly full of adults complaining about being adults) And oh, someone did send me a NSFW fanart of Shallan & Vin after seeing this. So, looks like stuff is out there... somewhere. (PS next time, just for reference, I'm into dudes, so maybe send me that!)
  24. A complicated one, you mean? Judging by this: I've found the idea interesting but it seems so hax that I don't really want it to happen so I haven't really given it much thought except I do think that the simplest second Order would be the Cryptics if one only considers the Ideals as factors A more complicated one... how about Bonding The Nightwatcher, thereby becoming a Bondsmith, then use the Old Magic, asking her for the Boon of Bonding another spren?, one close to Cultivation and the Bondsmith Ideals and/or (lowercase) ideals: the Lightweavers inspire people and the Edgedancers help the needy and listen to everyone
