  1. I see... Let's just say, while reading Brandon's adult novels (Mistborn, Elantris, Stormlight, etc.), pay attention to any suspicious similarities.
  2. I can play songs just by clapping my hands a certain way in front of my mouth.
  3. I'm pretty sure that this is not how Mastery works. Brandon's magic systems usually make a lot of sense, and canceling momentum doesn't seem like it would fit (except whatever Spiritual mumbo-jumbo he has going on with speed bubbles). I think that when sand mastery is used to cut, it works by holding the sand solidly in a blade shape, not by shooting the sand really fast. If a knife crumbles to dust when it hits something, the thing isn't okay because the momentum of the knife was cancelled; the thing is okay because the knife is no longer wedge-shaped.
  4. Wait... Those sound like exactly the same thing.
  5. I see where you're coming from, but I don't think that Brandon did this just to have a shock point. It seems like a natural progression of Kaladin's arc (although I wouldn't have seen it coming). In WoK, Kaladin decides to always protect those that can't protect themselves. In WoR, he realizes that he should still protect people even if he doesn't like them. In OB, the next step makes sense to be something that forces him to understand that he won't always be able to protect everyone.
  6. Dragonsteel trilogy Elantris trilogy Mistborn era 1 Warbreaker series Stormlight arc 1 Mistborn era 2 Threnody novel Stormlight arc 2 Mistborn era 3 Aether trilogy Mistborn era 4 The placement for Aether has no justification other than wanting to have something between the last 2 Mistborn eras. The Threnody novel placement is only because Brandon said a Silence cameo is a possibility, and Shadows for Silence takes place between Warbreaker and Stormlight arc 1.
  7. Alas, Alethkar is in the East.
  8. This is an issue for me as well.
  9. The characters themselves. (But technically Brandon)
  10. Maybe make a new post about this because it takes up over a page of this thread so far.
  11. Each book will be Stormlight-sized, so it's more like 6 Mistborn books. He said this in a pretty recent Reddit post (this month I think), but I can't find it right now. EDIT: Found it -
  12. I think that Ruin must have changed this too. He didn't want you to spread the information that he had an evil scheme against articles.
  13. I want to see a fight against a bunch of the Skybreakers. We need to see Radiant v. Radiant combat!
  14. I wasn't suggesting Sacrifice as a Shard; I was just using it in saying that Overmastery is not very related to the intent of Autonomy. I agree that the magic systems all reflect the resident Shard. In fact, that is Brandon-confirmed (I can't find the WoB right now). I was suggesting that the way it is reflected in Sand Mastery is how each ribbon has some semblance of its own consciousness. As a side note, not everybody does have the capacity to Master. In the GN, Kenton tries to show Khriss how, but she couldn't do it.
  15. Most of the magic systems make sense with their respective Shard's intent: * But the way Sand Mastery is used doesn't make much sense for Autonomy. Chaos has suggested that Autonomy's Intent applies in how Sand Masters exercise their autonomy in Overmastering to gain more power. However, this application's relevance is a stretch. It would be more geared to a Shardic Intent of something closer to Sacrifice. Rather, I suggest that Autonomy's Intent applies in how the sand is controlled. This description of Sand Mastery is suspiciously similar to how Autonomy's avatars seem to be: autonomous entities, each with their own consciousness, but in a way, still one, shown in the Oathbringer letters when *This would have probably been a better post for Cosmere Discussion, but that quote from White Sand prose fit way too well for me to not use it.
  16. Would you mind sending these to me too? I would also like to know how to add these. I do have a chromebook, but I don't know how to add fonts to it.
  17. I don't think we have a WoB on this, but I assume that they would only be able to talk if both were inside the room. The way that spanreeds communicate is very similar to the Nahel bond because it works via Connection of a spren.
  18. She does. She talks to him in Oathbringer. He's the well-known scholar that is thought to be a woman. I don't remember his name.
  19. From what we know so far, the main 5 (Kaladin, Shallan, Dalinar, Venli, and Szeth) are sure to be main viewpoints. Navani should be one as well. That's six out of nine total. Here's how I place them. Group 1 Kaladin - yeah Venli - book focus Navani - viewpoints written around the same time this group was being written (Only a few viewpoints) Renarin? (Almost no viewpoints and maybe an interlude) Szeth - protects Navani, and reason for why he isn't the one flying Dalinar Group 2 Shallan - Ghostblood assignment Adolin? Group 3 Dalinar - viewpoint written around the time group three was being written Jasnah - few viewpoints and later in the book (alternate link) Interlude through PoV Moash - just seems right. No other basis than wanting to see him going around killing heralds. Other likely PoVs are Adolin, Renarin, Jasnah, Lirin, Lift, and Rlain I think Lift is less likely because she is going to come out in Arc 2 and does not currently have a strong connection with the others (Except maybe Szeth, but... still). Rlain was put off at the end of Oathbringer, but I have trouble seeing him being placed as a PoV above the rest of Bridge 4. Adolin is an extremely likely one because of how much his story has been built up in the previous books, especially with the unresolved point of Maya. I'd put him with Shallan, as they're married, or on the front fighting lines in group 1. Since the only spot I have left in group 1 is a lesser viewpoint, I'll put him in group 2 with Shallan. Jasnah will be important in the research aspects mentioned on the newly released cover blurb, but I don't expect the queen on the front lines, so I'll put her in group 3. That leaves Lirin or Renarin for the lesser PoV in group 1. I'm going with Renarin because of the significant parallels he could supply with any Sja-anat stuff in group 2 and because first chapter characters are often just to set the scene/tone. I like how this layout sets things up. We've got the main monarchs in Urithiru, Adolin and Shallan together, and Szeth sent to protect Navani and Renarin as they help on the main lines. Edit: I am now much more certain about Jasnah's position group-wise because of the recent Facebook AMA
