  1. I would agree, but the way Brandon talked about the groups makes it incredibly unlikely that he is not part of the group format. For Brandon to mention all 5 viewpoint characters in Group 1, even though one of them might just get an interlude, only to not include somebody who will "certainly" get more than 2 viewpoints (with "decent chunk" up for interpretation), would not make much sense at all. While nothing is 100%, and Adolin's exact placement is not directly proven by that WoB, to suggest that he might not even be part of any grouping (or the interlude through-line)--even given that evidence--requires such a big stretch of the information we have, that although it is technically valid, it is not very pertinent.
  2. This WoB was recently sent to me by someone who wishes to remain anonymous. One thing that makes this very interesting is that it confirms that Adolin will be one of the PoV characters, where before, it had only been strongly suggested. Beyond that, this WoB provides additional evidence that Adolin is not one of the minor viewpoints in Group 1, lending further credence to the idea that he is in Group 2. I will also suggest that Brandon's claim that Adolin will only get a "decent chunk," and not as much as the questioner might like also goes against Brandon's description of the major PoVs in Group 1, separating him more firmly from that group, although that is less certain.
  3. That is a valid point, although my interpretation of it is now mostly redundant because of the cover art that shows Adolin literally standing next to Shallan.

The legal definition will differ depending on where you live--and of course, Alethkar's comparable term could differ-- but here is the one from dictionary.law.com: Although this might not be the way you use the word, if people are using different definitions in this discussion, it will degrade into an argument over semantics. One thing to note is that while Moash and Adolin both committed murder, Moash committed first degree murder, while Adolin committed second degree murder.
  5. When new content is posted in a topic, it gets marked as unread, and if you follow it, you get notified based on your preferences, but neither of these happen when content is edited. It's common for people to actually add new content to a post by editing it, and I think that it would be nice to have some way to tell that that has happened. Of course, not everyone wants to be notified when something under content they follow is edited, but I think that it would be a nice option to have under following preferences. Is it possible that something like that could be implemented? I'm not sure how difficult it would be; it's just a suggestion.
  6. You are absolutely correct that we can't be 100% certain about which group they are in. However, the fact that they are together is an indicator toward Group 2. As I explain in my original post, Dalinar is almost certainly in Group 3, which only leaves one PoV spot left in that group. The evidence against them being together in Group 1 is not as strong, but it is still there. Nobody other than the "main eight" characters of this arc will get viewpoints other than just "here and there." Along with additional evidence* for the placements of the other "main eight," not many spots are left in Group 2, so if Shallan and Adolin were both not in it, there would not be enough candidates left. *I can point out this evidence if you want, but it's easier for me if you refer to the original post or previous page.
  7. The Bulgarian cover has been released: Although cover arts aren't necessarily canonical, they can still give us some information, and since Brandon himself chose the cover art he wanted, it is extremely likely that the major elements of the depiction are accurate. This strongly reinforces the conclusion that Shallan and Adolin are in the same group, and since--as I showed in my original post--Dalinar should be in Group 3, it reinforces their placement together in Group 2.
  8. https://coppermind.net/wiki/Assassination_of_Gavilar That Coppermind article is about what you're looking for. It just doesn't include the Navani prologue yet. The excerpt of her prologue we have right now seems to take place before the others.
  9. I was trying out inspirobot.me (an AI "inspirational quote" generator) and came across an unexpected cosmere reference. Sums up The Silence Divine:
  10. That's what I assumed at first, but Brandon says that they were the age that they look, which means Kalak's description is probably close to accurate, although it's likely that it's not exact.
  11. Here is an excerpt from the prelude: So, the age that Jezrien became a Herald at is about 30 (33 in Earth years). Ash is his daughter, and she also became a Herald, which means that Jezrien's age when Ash was born and Ash's age when the Oathpact was made should add up to 30 years. Either, Ash looks like a child or young teen right now, or Jezrien had Ash when he was a young teen. I guess that a possible explanation could be that Jezrien adopted Ash, but either way, this is something very interesting about their history.
  12. The idea that Brandon just didn't want to show Rlain glowing is what I guessed in the original post. The issue with that is that it would be easy to just show him without any sort of glow. This is kind of how Moash is in the picture--he's surrounded by stormlight, but it's not coming from his skin, as he wasn't a squire. Couldnt that have been done for Rlain? The problem with this is what you point out. He could just be shown in a form that wouldnt be strange for him to be in. Even if he changed forms to something out of the ordinary after we lose track of him, there is no reason I can think of that he couldn't just be shown as he was when we did know what was going on with him. Edit: It looks like your post got copied when you tried to edit it.
  13. I agree that this is most likely. Only, what would a picture of Rlain looking cool get into about upcoming books? People have drawn cool-looking fan art of Rlain without any info from upcoming books; in fact, one Call to Adventure card depicts him in his Oathbringer interlude, and those were produced with input from Dragonsteel. Is there something that they're missing?
  14. The Lopen had both arms before mid-OB. Moash did not have a Shardblade mid-OB.
  15. To be fair, he does say "roughly," but this would fit with the end of WoR, during which their depictions here would match up. Edit: Even if Isaac was just way off here, this couldn't be after Rlain's "disappearance," as Moash's Shardblade gets taken before then. Actually, it seems that Moash is missing his Bridge 4 patch, which places this in early OB. Again, this is before we lose track of Rlain.
  16. This has me very confused. The depictions on the poster are from roughly the WoR time period and from sometime while they were still bridgemen. What could a depiction of Rlain from those points in time spoil about upcoming books? Is there something about his appearance that us readers would notice, but the characters wouldn't? The only plausible explanation for this that I can think of right now is that Brandon meant to say that he didn't want to put a depiction of Rlain glowing blue with Stormlight. The problem with that explanation, though, is that it would have made sense to depict not-glowing-Rlain, as it would fit in with the time period. Does anybody have ideas on what a WoR depiction of Rlain would spoil about upcoming books?
  17. Another thing I had pointed out, which may have been easy to miss, is that it is harder to Soothe Invested people. Besides that, I was saying that Szeth specifically is sort of used to "fighting against such a thing." Throughout WoK and WoR, he wanted to kill himself, but he just ignored that urge. His emotions didn't really affect his actions until the very end, when he started to realize that he wasn't actually Truthless. No matter what he had going on internally, whether it was feeling dead inside or feeling extreme self-hatred, he made sure that his orders were carried out. I recognize the combat potential of emotional allomancy, but against Szeth, I think that the minimum effect you suggested would be more of a maximum, due to both the resistance from Investiture against other Investiture and Szeth's resistance to acting on his emotions.
  18. I think that you're missing the point I made there. I was talking specifically about its role in a battle against Szeth.
  19. Szeth did have a lot of emotions gong on, but for most all of his fights, he ignored his emotional impulses and just focused on his sense of honor. There was, of course, that one time he decided on his own to attack Adolin, but otherwise, Soothing's not going to do much to him. It would just remove a distraction from his orders. Rioting has a chance to cause problems for him, but Invested people are also hard to affect with emotional Allomancy. I don't know which one would win, as there are too many variables there, but in most situations in a fight between them, emotional Allomancy won't play a big roll.

So, you had given that question about murder in response to bring asked why you thought Moash was evil. In your views here on Adolin, you provide an answer to your question that is contrary to what the question implied your answer was. Asking if someone "honestly [thinks] that murder isn't evil" implies that you think that it is evil. However, you do not believe that Adolin murdering Sadeas was evil, as it is justified in your opinion. This implies that your actual thoughts on the morality of murder is that it is evil unless it is for a good cause. Of course, I could be wrong about what you're saying, and please correct me if I am. On the other hand, if I am correct about what you are saying, I believe that you just provided an explanation for how somebody could consider murder not to be evil on your own.

Is Adolin evil? I'm not stating my opinion here--I'm just asking.
  22. I think that he is talking about Lopen in the first one. It depends on if the second ideal for a Windrunner squire would be considered just "well on the way" to being a radiant. Since Teft still seemed to just be a squire until he swore the third Ideal, that seems very likely.
  23. In which case the question is: where does the heat go? Into the bearer? The Blade? The Spiritual Realm? Shadesmar? Converted to extra Investiture? What's happening while summoning a Shardblade seems kind of complicated now. First, the spren gets pulled into the Physical Realm, manifesting as a gas, then something cools down the gas enough to depose. After that, it somehow remains a solid without being constantly cooled, even though its natural form seems to be as a gas. Finally, the spren goes back into Shadesmar, but it does not release heat when that happens. Strange. This also makes me wonder if you could heat up a Shardblade enough for it to sublimate, but without it being ridiculously hot.
