Heraldic Apotheosis and the Power of Mismatched Surges
Halyo_Alex replied to honorblades's topic in Stormlight Archive
I've always wanted Abrasion and Gravitation together, just so you can always be skating "downhill", even if you're on a wall or a ceiling. That just sounds like it would be badass. -
BONDSMITH!
-
yup! I'm just sort of mad that it took me this long to realize.

Mfw i realize women's script looks the same when you flip it vertically.

AGAIN

Even if she could have done that, I feel like it's getting a bit cheap at this point; not for shallan specifically, but Jasnah and Szeth have both "died" and come back, a third, with someone so important and emotionally impactful, would surely be getting tiring to at least some readers.

Yes, they used Aluminum to hide from Voidspren in Kholinar during Oathbringer. Whether they really understand it and can make more of it, I don't know. But they know it exists.

speaking of the other metallic arts, I would LOVE for a stealth/roguelite/fighting game of some sort with Hemalurgy as a big focus. Like the first boss fight is a Lurcher, you beat him up (via whatever starting combat methods you have), you spike his Iron allomancy out, and you can then use it to explore further past the boss room. etc, with other metals. Maybe you need Brass to convince an impossibly difficult enemy to open a gate for you to progress. something like that. Gradually becoming more powerful.

Whoops, sorry, didn't mean to use Division on it. Using Division to break the air molecules instead of electric current.
-
That's generally how I think of Nightblood; a black hole for the Spiritual Realm rather than the Physical Realm.
-
I mean, lightning splits air molecules through its sheer amount of energy. So if you split the air molecules directly, do you reverse engineer lightning?

What Misting would a secret Mistborn pretend to be?
Halyo_Alex replied to Oltux72's topic in Mistborn
but then a Seeker that could see him would notice "hey wait that guy is using Steel but I can't sense it, he must be burning copper too!" -
From the Coppermind page on Honorblades. Guess it's a maybe??

I've actually thought something like this would be the case for some time. The exact means to this end I'm unsure on, but I feel like it could be a fascinating way to have things end (and importantly, in a very different way to Mistborn). I wonder if it will start in the end of book 5 with the Honorblades being consumed by the matching Spren of the main 10 (kaladin/dalinar/shallan/jasnah/lift/renarin/etc, etc.) We know that being bonded to a spren and the matching honorblade would improve your Surgebinding power by some amount, but what if that Honorblade was fused (aha) into an actual Spren? The Honorblade bond is shallow and consumes "dangerous" amounts of Stormlight, and doesn't allow stormlight healing... Adding their investiture to a Spren would fix that. It would be like a pseudo "6th oath" level of power boost, i guess?

I like that. Keeps things balanced while still mixing things up enough to make it interesting.

F-Zinc doesn't speed up your physical body. F-Steel does. Mental vs Physical speed. It's just that in order to not splat on walls you need to have enhanced reaction times, so F-Steel boosts your perception of time as well.

what powers will the nightwatcher give?
Halyo_Alex replied to Kalaksbreath's topic in Stormlight Archive
Re-Re-Re-(Shephir)mix! I imagine that Bondsmith would be good at making new Fabrial designs, at least on the spren side of the devices rather than the concrete applications. -
Right, don't we see Bleeder look over and react to Wax and Wayne inside a Bendalloy bubble? So... That means she's being sped up in time, as if F-Steel is just a personal Bendalloy bubble.

I've always thought that somehow, Sunraiser was some sort of "prototype Honorblade" or replica, and with the right Intent, it could give someone basic use of the 10 surges... but nobody would expect it to do that, so it just doesn't.

You mean Sanderlanche?

But Atium isn't just a normal metal, it's condensed, solid Investiture. The rules might (and, in some sense, should) play differently with it. That's fair, Lerasium does cause people who burn it to become Mistborn, but 1. That's a side effect and we don't know for sure what the True Power of Lerasium is (though given that the Mists and Lerasium are both the same Investiture, I'd say it's fair to assume you could burn Lerasium as a fuel for any Allomantic effect). And 2. It's also solid Investiture that can be burned by anyone, even non-metalborn (because of their innate connection to Preservation due to being created by him, which is also true of Ruin, so... That's in favor of Atium being burnable by any metalborn). True, humans do have more Preservation than Ruin, but they still have Ruin in them. And Atium provides the Investiture itself, not Preservation, so the Connection to Preservation isn't being used when burning Atium. True, but that could be attributed to the mere fact that the metals originate from different Shards' Investiture. Gold has different qualities than, say, Cesium. And they're both made of the same stuff! Quarks/Gluons and Electrons crammed together into atoms with a particular amount of protons and neutrons in a nucleus. Imagine if atoms could be made of stuff other than Protons, Neutrons, and Electrons! That would be WAY different!

Make Elariel her middle name? Shan Elariel Venture?

New Shard Confirmed-ish through 2020 WOB - Anguish?
Halyo_Alex replied to teknopathetic's topic in Cosmere Discussion
How about Mourning? (inb4 that shard somehow influenced the existence of the Bands of Mourning) -
Dunno why but I like this one (because we've seen a Ketek for the Everstorm/Highstorm i guess)

We might have actually seen something like this [Cosmere Spoilers]
