That sounds like the kind of apocalyptic automation I'd expect. The point of leaving the bones as-is was to keep Breath costs down, as they would be the main thing getting awakened, like a Kalad Phantom. Thought so. Yeah... The hope was that, as i just mentioned, the bones and the muscles remaining organic is to keep the corpse lifelike while enhancing durability and longevity. Don't take the Stormlight to Nalthis, take the Breath to Roshar. That could work. Or heck, just plain Copper spikes... If we can figure out some way of "compounding hemalurgy" to enhance the spike charge strength, we might only need one good one to make it near-sentient.

After taking the official quiz and cementing myself as a Lightshaper, it made me start thinking about the potential cosmere-wide uses of Soulcasting. Naturally, the Rosharan practice of Soulcasting deceased humans into stone reminded me of Kalad's Phantoms, and I started contemplating the potential enhancements that fine Soulcasting could impart to a Lifeless. By "fine", I mean, like, soulcasting JUST the skin into Steel, for example. Cut into it at the joints so that the awakened bones and muscles can still bend, but turn the skin into steel so that the Lifeless has a durable outer shell (sort of like Singer carapace, actually...). And speaking of awakened muscles, how about Soulcasting those into Wood? Presumably a flexible kind, but one that's still durable or is difficult to rot. Speaking of rotting, let's also Soulcast the blood directly into Ichor-Alcohol. Hmm... Maybe we can do something hacky if we Soulcast the nervous system and the brain into Copper. If we presume our corpse was someone capable of storing their Memories in an Unsealed Coppermind (perhaps via a Medallion prior to death), it could influence the personality of the Lifeless if we stored those Memories inside the copper mind (...ha) prior to Awakening the body. Of course, this would massively increase the Breath requirements if we wanted to Awaken the copper, since it's metal... This might not be worth the Investment. So, scrap that last idea, unless you REALLY wanna make a pseudo-returned in a hacky manner. Hmm... Anything else? Perhaps if we could take it to Sel, we could have an Elantrian carve a series of Aons into the steel to enhance it further. But then it would be fairly restricted to Sel, so maybe not. Darn. Hmm... what else?

That's... Actually a good point. Hmm. There would certainly be some need for experimentation to find the good combinations. I feel like the Oathgate spren are fusions, each. Perhaps based on an Inkspren and a Lightspren, given that both are capable of Transportation and look the part, but small.

Hmm... I'm not convinced, it still just feels kind of arbitrary. Besides, if you were fusing spren, why would you fuse lesser spren? Perhaps Shardplate, but then, what about the lesser spren that don't seem attracted to members of a particular Order?

Then again, knowing that you could make yourself weightless would probably help alleviate your fear of heights.
-
Why not, though? Mistspren are sentient (or sapient, I can't remember which word is more accurate) but they're not Radiant spren. Would they be exempt from fusion? Also I just recently realized a possible hacky avenue for spren merging. [Mistborn Bands of Mourning Spoilers]

I noticed a fair few people talking in the official radiant order quiz threads have been mixing their top two results into a "new" order, myself included. We know from WoBs that it's technically possible for a person to bond two Radiant spren, if highly unlikely to happen in practice. But can things be pushed a step further? Can two spren be mixed into a single entity? Well... Yes. They can be. Here's the WoB for it! So, Lightshapers, Winddancers, Windshapers, Elsebreakers, you guys COULD technically have a single spren for your merged orders. As to what this would do to the consciousness of the two spren, and what the actual method for merging them would be, I have no idea. Let's theorize that together!

Same sort of thing on my second, more honest taking of the quiz; Lightweaver, closely followed by Willshaper, but in my case it was followed somewhat by Truthwatcher.
-
Correction; Syl will NOT be sharing HER Radiant with another storming Spren. I mean we literally saw her shooing away lesser spren from Kal in... TWoK? So she's definitely not the kind of spren to really share, it seems.

Pseudo Returned; Potential Ressurection Via Breath

Pseudo Returned; Potential Ressurection Via Breath
Halyo_Alex replied to Halyo_Alex's topic in Warbreaker
Right, but if I'm not mistaken, Invested souls take longer to pass to the Beyond, right? So with enough Breaths, would they persist long enough to ... Latch back onto their newly Awakened body, if it had the right command? -

Is anybody else worried about Hoid?

Actually wait I just realized how you could fix it. -
Aaaallllll righty, bear with me for a second while I spin this little theory out into words on the screen. The gist of it is that I recalled that Cognitive Shadows can bond to Spiritwebs, like a Spren. Then it occurred to me that Awakening (if i'm not mistaken) creates a "Fake" or artificial Spiritweb, right? So... If someone dies, and there's someone with enough Breath around, could they use the right Command on the corpse to make it suitably controllable by the Cognitive Shadow of the original inhabitant? Like a Nalthian version of a [Stormlight spoiler] Basically, can you Awaken someone's recently deceased body to become a useable vessel for their cognitive shadow such that they are effectively resurrected?

Honestly that's fine, that was pretty storming cool. Really well-written if nothing else! -
Retaking the quiz with more honesty resulted in Willshaper overtaking Windrunner as second place. Edit: OH STORMS WE GOT A BONDSMITH IN THE POLL RESULTS
-
Retook the quiz with a little more honesty and less trepidation, and got Willshaper as a close second, followed vaguely by Truthwatcher and Windrunner. Interesting.
-
Hum, so these are the results from my second attempt at the quiz, being more honest with myself, and I still got Lightweaver as my top order, but Willshaper replaced Windrunner as second place.
-
You're the second person I've seen with a big separation between their top result and the others. Interesting.

Go ahead

I mean, he might find a way to Lightweave it into being transparent from the outside, and silent. Illumination can do sounds too, so if he figures out antinoise, he could do that. destructively interfere the sound of the plate moving with the same sound out of phase. -
