  1. But hold! Came a new voice. Lalex appeared elsecalling down from the CR. I too wish to lay claim to this treasure. How can we duel justly between three parties?
  2. Welcome!
  3. If that was the law then yes most Skybreakers would follow it. Urithiru might have had a system like that.
  4. We don't know that Ishar made the oaths. That could be true and it could be very interesting.
  5. Yes. Even in Elendel they already have flash photography so films will start soon. Considering that the southerners have portable radio I think they will develop TV in a few years if they don't already have it. I doubt planes will be much of a thing. You get more carrying capacity and a much easier to build vehicles just using metalic arts to decrease weight.
  6. Maybe? Who defines right path?
  7. We have no way of knowing. It all depends on the spren and we don't actually know much about them. I think enough people exist who would be interested in being in an order that the spren cap things not the humans.
  8. I personally have always assumed the same although we could both be wrong.
  9. 1. I liked Fitz but then he started acting out of character. I get that he is going through a lot but he is not the Fitz I liked 2. I have a thing for first books 3. I actually thin Sophie has a really well written internal PoV that is often hard with main characters.
  10. A fallen elantrian could get things to work using feruchmeical nicrosil or duralumin.
  11. New information actually proves you right. This is a general Dustbringer thing. I think they are still somewhat viable as is. We will see.
  12. Alright this thread is going to use up my feals for this month. Your name makes me think I need to reread a good cryptography book.
  13. Possibly? They have the tec.
  14. An argument could be made for all orders that we don't know about. I just decided what I thought were the most likely but my opinion is based on a rather loose collection of information and beliefs that are not entirely verifiable. They chose her in part because "she is a child and we can mold her." To me at least that seems too much like playing favorites. Edgedancers should like all sorts of people and enjoy helping them at a personal level. Not a lot of teamwork seems involved.
  15. These oaths are very loose. That seems to work as well.
  16. That seems a bit negative for a final truth. That might have been an approximation of a secondary or tertiary truth although I personally disagree. This I definitely agree with though. That is an interesting point. Stop using Gavilar as a benchmark he had quite a few failings of his own. We don't know how long it took for Jasnah to figure things out. Ivory was also dead set against revealing himself.
  17. A lot of us did take it. Welcome to the Shard! Amazing first post. Willshaper is my second order. I am very big on self expression but I am also pretty rigid. For those of you who are Name of the Wind fans I think Kvothe is very much a willshaper. Yeah he does crafting but he is also a wanderer in search of personal fulfillment and new discovery both physical and social. I also think the surge of transportation helps them wander although we don't really know how it works. Thank you for being so careful in your analysis. It gave me with the second oath update.
  18. Yes. In WoR "If he finds me I become nothing." Also he mentions in OB that Odium would level a city just for a tiny chance of offing him.
  19. I don't think so. Hoid is never around when Odium could be watching. Gavilar's assassination seems like the sort of thing that Odium watches(like Szeth's Dalinar assassination attempt).
  20. People are different they have different capabilities, desires, needs, and beliefs. Treating all people the same is at best a crude approximation of trying to do right. For example is it reasonable to make everyone take the SAT in the same amount of time? What about people with less opportunities to study or who process information more slowly?
  21. Problem is that trying to do so is inherently unfair.
