  1. Hrm...I find the lack of shiv to be behind this distrubing....
  2. Sounds like there's probably an issue with the wireless adapter in the machine. If possible, i would try updating your wireless driver, that could fix it. if it doesn't, it may be a hardware issue. In theory, you could just buy an external wireless adapter and use that one instead, those are fairly cheap.
  3. As mentioned here, windy is simply a new form of hemalurgic construct we have one our staff. We have a ton of the things. Seriously, I can't walk around without tripping over 1 or 2 of the darn things. I think Chaos is pumping out too many of them, But i digress. (We're aware of this issue )
  4. Well, everyone is allowed to have their own house rules in campaigns and such, but limiting to JUST core classes cuts out a TON of official D&D supplements, especially if you're concerned about stuff being broken/OP, since the most broken classes ARE the core classes (specifically, wizard, cleric, and druid), generally with core abilities as well (a few exceptions). Everyone's certainly allowed to play how they want, though, just wanted to point out that you miss out on a lot if you do this, especially some of the more interesting/fun classes. Also, this is generally why pretty much every DM i've ever played with requires you to submit your character for approval prior to playing, so the DM has the understanding what you can and can't do.
  5. Actually it was a soulmeld. Essentially the "spells" of the incarnum classes. Technically you could gain access to them through a feat. You wouldn't be able to improve it too much particularly, though, unless you were to dedicate a ton of feats towards it. Also: It's worth noting that the incarnum classes are probably are probably the most well balanced classes in 3rd edition. They're highly versatile, but don't particularly outshine anyone.
  6. Shardblades actually resemble, in many ways, the soulbound weapon soul meld of the incarnum classes, other than the "insta-kill" properties, that is. they were essentially solidified incarnum into a weapon. You could "summon" it to you in like a round or so, if it was ever seperated from you, it would reappear in your hand at the beginning of the next round unless you willed it otherwise, they were typically oversized compared to the normal weapon (but not particularly more heavy), and were ornate looking. If you made them use touch attack against anyone not in some form of invested armor, and auto-kill, they would be like almost verbatim shardblades.
  7. Hasn't had its morning coffee yet, probably. It's slackin' on the job.
  8. Done. Edit: Better title - DOUBLE WINDY ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE BOARD!
  9. I can change the topic title for you. Is there something particular you want it set to?
  10. Nah, just think of windy as our version of the inquisitors. We have like 50 of 'em! But yeah, this is a known "issue", but not really a huge deal. Some sort of lag-related thing.
  11. I'd say either here or maybe entertainment discussion is the right place. Roleplaying is for actually roleplaying, not talking about it. As for weapons, and such, you could probably get away with building nightblood as an intelligent item. Might to tweak some of the rules, though, but for the most part it has everything there. A purpose (destroy evil), dedicated powers (an auto-kill spell, maybe, like phantasmal killer), might need to tweak it so that evil characters auto-fail the ego check and good characters do not. I think it could work pretty well
  12. Yep, sometimes a computer just needs a second pair of eyes on it to make it straighten up and fly right. And you can take that as a fact stated by a professional, because i work in IT, so it's clearly a legit statement.
  13. Moved to the "site issues" board. As for your issue...I'm not entirely sure what the issue could be. It's worth noting that the editor just auto-inserts PHPBB codes, which you can manually type in for the same effects. I would maybe try clearing your cache/cookies/etc. and refreshing?
  14. Generally, anytime something works in incognito but not in non-incognito it's because of an issue with the site's cookies. Clearing your cache/cookies like swimmingly mentions should generally fix it. The reason why it works in incognito but not in normal mode is because incognito mode doesnt use or save any sort of cache or cookies or anything.
  15. Yup, this. The manner in which this site plays out is because of the community, and not necessarily related to the actions of the moderation team. We do what we can to help moderate when the need arises, but the conducive manner of everyone is directly related to all the people who post here. I'll be honest, I haven't been too active in much but the moderation here in the past couple of years due to my job swap a while back, but the only reason I keep coming back and dealing with any issues I can help with is due to how awesome the community as a whole is. If this place was non-stop vitriol, I would have stopped even with the assistance in moderating way back when.
  16. The WoR subfolder isn't for WoR specific content/posts. It's for threads that contain large amounts of WoR specific spoilers, which this thread qualifies. After some 6 months, this restriction will be removed and this subforum will be merged with the Stormlight Archive forum at large. As for removing the off-topic posts, I have removed them because they are off-topic and argumentative. If you wish to provide feedback on our policies, you may do so directly to the admins of the site, or start a topic in the "site feedback" forum. Being posted in this topic is outrageously off-topic. I have already arbitrated on this matter, but I have left the issue open for review by the admins. Any further posts on this subject in this topic will be removed without prejudice.
  17. I would direct you to a write up of our spolier policy as to why this was moved. Specifically governing where things are posted: Any WoR spoilers NOT in the WoR forum MUST BE MARKED with a spoiler tag. Not in the topic title, but in the post itself. Because of this, this topic would mostly be spoiler tags if this policy was followed, so it was deemed to be moved to the WoR subforum. If you disagree with this policy, you are free to bring it up to one of the admins.
  18. Hey, all, We have decided to move this to the WoR subforum. The purpose of the WoR subforum is to protect people from spoilers who haven't had a chance to read WoR yet. After a period of time (usually about 6 months or so) we may remove the subforum and move all the topics back to the stormlight archive main forum. Please try to remain polite and on-topic during discussions, and I would ask if members would please refrain from corrective action on their own, and if you feel any moderator action should be performed to use the "report" link to bring it to our attention. I am going to remove the off-topic discussion from this thread.
  19. Well, it's more about luck to getting someone who knows where and what to look for in order to pinpoint the problem. That said, if you can think of or try a different tactic, it could certainly work, i'm just giving my recommendations from what issues I've had in the past. You're unfortunately going to be at the mercy of your ISP for a resolution, most likely.
  20. FYI, Folks, i have merged another topic about this movie from the general discussion board in here, so if some of the conversation appears a little schizophrenic you can blame me for it
  21. Unfortunately, there's no way to FORCE them to check the wires in your house, obviously. When it happened for us, we just got lucky with a tech who was willing to hear us out and do some extra tests that the others have never done. Unfortunately, we just had to keep at it until we got someone who knew what he was doing. As far as their "Fibe" service goes, i'm willing to bet that it's probably fiber-to-node (its cheaper for ISPs to implement, generally), meaning you would actually be using the same wire/line as when you were using DSL. basically, the fiber runs to a specific "node" the ISP owns, and then runs copper cable over the last mile to houses. That way, they don't have to put actual fiber cable in the ground near everyone's home, and people get faster internet access, but not as fast as a TRUE fiber connection. You generally see this more than you see ACTUAL fiber connections.
  22. Nope, we're totally banning peter now over it.
  23. Oh, you mentioned "Switching to Fibe" and I just assumed that was another carrier, i'm guessing that's not the case? As far as faulty wiring goes, it's totally possible for a connection to work intermittently. It's not a binary "works/doesnt work" thing. If there's a short in the wire, it can work sometimes, and fail other times. I'm sure the technician probably just didnt care and wanted to continue on with his work.
  24. Unfortunately, there's probably about a billion different things that could potentially be wrong, so it's hard to troubleshoot like this over the internet. That said, if you're having the issue with TWO different carriers and several different modems, I would probably put money on it being a wiring problem OR a problem with the "last mile" portion of your connection. Do you know if your neighbors have the same issue if they have the same provider(s) as you? One thing I can recommend is giving their support a call at the literal time that it's happening, not after someone resets the modem or anything. If you're talking to them WHILE it's happening, they can usually do some tests on their end to verify your connectivity strength and all. You would probably wanna speak to Tier 2 support ASAP, because Tier 1 is just going to likely walk through the usual scripted steps, which would include unplugging and replugging it in (which could invalidate the purpose of the call in the first place). I personally have had similar issues with a cable company back when I lived in Missouri here states side, we had intermittent issues and the techs always claimed there was nothing wrong. After years of back and forth, we finally had a tech who tested some wiring INSIDE the house and found a problem, and corrected it, and after that things worked much better. Can't say for sure if it's the same issue you have, but it's a personal anecdote that might help push you in the right direction, maybe. It might also be worth your while to invest in an actual stand-alone router, and swap the modem into bridge-mode to use the modem they gave you as a dumb-pipe for data. It's been my experience that the wireless router/modems provided to you by ISPs are pretty much garbage, even a cheap 30-something dollar linksys router will serve you better in the router department. This would take some significant lifting off the modem and could help rule out the actual modem as the issue.
  25. People who've been around here for a while probably recognize and perhaps vaguely recall that every year I participate in the game making competition Ludum Dare in December every year. Well, this year a buddy of mine wanted to participate in this month's LD, and he wanted to know if I was down for it. So we participate in it this past weekend, and I'm actually really pleased with the results! Anyone who is interested can play it and/or read the developer post-mortems here.
