I am unsure if I like the idea of the guild changing their Rep whenever they want. My concern would be that the guild might get annoyed with the rep for politicking, and replace them on a whim... Though in practice, as this is a community, this might be unlikely... The GBs also have designated a backup rep as well, but I interpreted this mostly incase the normal one couldn't get on for some reason. It would make sense if committing certain crimes got you expelled from the gov... perhaps that would be how guilds get their reps replaced?
-
Technically there isn't a difference... Just in the discussions, due to the talk of the guilds potentially voting directly, I think the distinction can be important. ...Also, there is the possibility that a rep will choose the character's interests over their guild's... However that could make the guild (and/or the gov) angry... Risky stuff, but a potential that I think may be fun...

Long Game 51: A Traitor in the Obligators
Furamirionind replied to Straw's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yay... So I am innocent right now, but may not be tomorrow... The real use of these scans I think, is that they tell us who wasn't converted on a given night, not who to trust. Trust will come and go as you can trust me now, but not D4... I think perhaps we should try to focus on trying figuring out who would have been converted D1. Every villager scan, tells us they weren't converted D1, and it will probably be the easiest thing to check, as all our info is relevant to D1, but less and less to each day going forward... Try not to double post unless you feel you need to for some reason. Instead, just edit your second mesage into your first, and start it off with an "EDIT" or something, so people know it was edited in. Mods don't tend to like double posting... *looks at Alv* Hmm, I read ITIAH's concerns of Lumgol, and I think they really make sense. The fact that Lum used the phrasing "Red Herring" especially is strange to me. A "red herring" would imply that we should disregard the message mostly, if not completely. This with this past statement... People originally went after ITIAH because they went after Lum, I don't know what is to be gained from restating those convictions... ITIAH has said nothing against Lum this turn... It would be an interesting strategy to go after the new player N1. I think Rae was the Seer last time(?), and she specifically tried to shake up her normal strategies for this kind of game... -
Was this not to be done by the government? Which would then be decided by the votes... Every Representative in the gov would get a vote, yes... Perhaps we are talking about the same thing, however, I got a different impression as you saying "guilds vote" rather than "representatives vote". I like using the word representative to distinguish between the two.
-
Wait, I may have missed something... what else do the guilds vote for? Or is this something if the guilds vote for something...
-
So... Who still hasn't responded? Currently we have 2 Great Guilds (5+ players), 3 Level 2 Guilds (2-4 players), and 2 Level 1 guilds for the moment. (...And the DA...) This is enough to make the Gov work. If these were the results we would proceed with though, TUBA and GB (as GGs) would get reps in the gov, and the Keepers, Craftsmen, and Black Crusade would also be automatically appointed as there would be three spots for minor guilds, and these are the only 3 that qualify at the moment.
-
You may. : P

I proposed Great Guilds have 1 vote but their vote counts as more: Mac Suggested We get rid of GG votes: No one else responded to this discussion, so I said we could try that: I won't have time until after work and I get home (~8ish hours from now), but I am not lost when it comes to this discussion, so i am willing to do this when I have that chance. (If no one else does it before me) Edit: Part of the problem is 2 discussions are split between 2 threads. (This discussion is talked about in DONE (Dawn of new era), and here)

I havent had time yet to actually create my character, but I am still really fond of a Zinc compounder. The original planned weakness was that they can't stand direct confrontation.(would justify this when creating the charecter) I.E. they would do literally everything in their power to avoid fights and stuff (basically a remake of Oruden as I literally never used him...)... but thinking about it, this probably isnt enough of a weakness as their powers dont have anything to do with conflict...

It was recommended that the every guild gets the same votes, except great guilds get no votes. I am still iffy on the great guilds getting no votes, but idk.

Mid-Range Game 32: The Blight Encroaches
Furamirionind replied to Fifth Scholar's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I am going to have a lot less time this turn than I wanted. I may have some time during the day turn, but it depends on if my cousins come back to my house after work. I want to point out that I will fail almost literally any WoT test. I am saying this outright as I dont want anyone possibly waiting on my response. I only read halfway through, and barely paid attention to what I read... Also, please remember that Rands attacks are only effective on Forsaken. Which means aginor. Loial should be the singing each night... it is basically a double defend.- 583 replies

Mid-Range Game 32: The Blight Encroaches
Furamirionind replied to Fifth Scholar's topic in Sanderson Elimination
wow, I keep thinking I am taking educated risks, I narrow it down to 2 roles, and then I consistently get it wrong on the last 2... Rand now has his action to kill a forsaken... We all need to defend all out to maximise this game now... The only people who shouldnt defend are Green man and Rand. I think Mat should defend at this point, unless they have a PM network, then target Steel or someone that you think you can confirm the alignment of. Again, I don't have time... I should have some time right before I go to bed.- 583 replies

Someone said they have experience creating balancing epic powers. I am trying to take other peoples opinions and arguements into account. If I have not suggested altering the system in a way that tries to address the issue you see with it, it means I have misunderstood you. There is obviously a break in communication somewhere.
-
The points system should not be: 1. Gold Ferring +5 points 2. Gold Allomancer +1 point Yay, I created a charecter named miles and he only has 6 points! It should be: 1. Gold Ferring +5 points 2. Gold Allomancer +1 point 3. Gold Compounder +40 points There should be a scenario for every thing... Which is why I offered to create a computer program that would create all those numbers for us...
-
Technically if he uses Hemallurgy, surely he would have at least a couple spikes that if removed would kill him? I can't remember the steel inquisitors benefiting from gold compounding like Miles did...

We can factor common or generic weaknesses as a general guide into the system, but I agree that it isn't foolproof. It isn't perfect. I just think it is a step forwards. Even if that step is mostly to the left, because it has some forwards to it, I am all for it.
-
... By "double" do you mean compounder?
-
But that doesn't counter my point of it being an analysis tool. Edit: I am saying you CAN use it a certain way. You don't have to. You don't have to think it makes sense that way, it just can. I would never assume I win because I have more points, but I could assume I would lose because I have less. You an me think very differently. another edit: It provides information. Do with that information what you will, info is valuable.
-
I honestly don't know what Hellbent can do... I only used him as an example cause I saw a lot of people complaining he was OP. lol.
-
Fair enough. lol. *sigh*. The points are an analysis tool, not a "who-is-going-to-win-a-fight-tool". Analysis can be used incorrectly or correctly. A lurcher is a hard counter to a couple magic systems, and a soft counter to many others. There are a couple other counters. This would be considered an exception to my analysis though. Before you can do good analysis, you need to understand what you are analyzing. I don't understand Hellbent, so my example was poor... Though now I do, so I can make that example again saying, " I compare my points to Hellbents and see I have fewer. So I know I should (I may still win, but I should) lose... But if you think about it, Zinc compounding is VERY powerful in a non-confrontational setting. (In a confrontational setting though... not so much...)... With Hellbent, everything in a confrontational setting... So I lose". Good analysis right there.
-
It was a drastic example for a drastic point. But if you think about it, Zinc compounding is VERY powerful in a non-confrontational setting. (In a confrontational setting though... not so much...)

Mid-Range Game 32: The Blight Encroaches
Furamirionind replied to Fifth Scholar's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The players I have focused on are Drought, BR, Sart and you. I targeted Randuir last cycle, but only to draw out an elim (which I clarified at the end of the cycle to make sure Randuir didn't get lynched if I died). If Randuir is an elim, I am giving up the game right now lol. Ugh, I don't really want to vote on you now, but I think it is between you and Karn for being elims... You I am suspicious of, Karn not so much... I will be doing a lot of analysis on Karn in the time I have before rollover. I will also be watching for other people's reasonings for stuff...- 583 replies

Mid-Range Game 32: The Blight Encroaches
Furamirionind replied to Fifth Scholar's topic in Sanderson Elimination
You "worry I have duped the village"? Your reasoning on voting for me is basically that of a revenge vote... I did analysis that most people thought valid on Drought, so accusing me on that case is based solely on the result and not what brought me there. Analysis of the rings is something that needed to be done, you will notice that I also have been consistently talking about players this game, just as much, if not more than I talked about the rings. This accusation sounds desperate to me... Like you think the game will end if you die... Is this true? If you are the Green Man, you should role-call, as you are close to getting lynched, and it will buy us 1 extra cycle with Rand. MrDoctor- 583 replies

Fair enough, you have more experience in this area than I do. Some of your points I don't think work as they seem to be more about the social part of guilds rather than the RP part... I wasn't referring to "one-man-guilds" but "one-man-guilds-according-to-the-census". Perhaps you were too, but I feel like if a guild has 20 people/characters in it, yet only has 1 according to the census, it should still be a guild. Currently I am afraid some guilds will just disband as they don't have anyone's vote in the census. Sorry, this post is a bit rushed.)
