  1. That makes sense, thanks. (I don't think there is time for me to do ring analysis AND expect people to actually take my advice this time, so I wont bother this turn) I also think I really need info on who has been role-blocked/redirected. Please remember that the elims already know about the actions they take, so saying them in thread doesn't help them. As for the Moiraine role-block, the elims will know whether or not one of them was roleblocked as well, so they already have way more info than us on this. It will be giving the elims a little info, and us a lot of info. (even if you don't want to share roleblocks (which I think we need), at least share redirects) will be editing in players over time, so that people can see the first part of this message. STINK - hasn't been on the shard in several days. So for all intents and purposes, cleared Randuir - hard cleared
  2. That is a good point to bring up. I kind of made the assumption that if guilds had objectives, they would want to manipulate other guilds through this. However, if it does take too much effort, you are right about them abandoning it. I am still quite interested to hear Palindrome's idea, hopefully it is simple(ish) : ) It would make sense to me as the smaller guilds would have fewer armies, if armies at all. it would balance out against the great guilds with armies. Right now this is all brainstorming, so naturally, we will probably want to simplify any ideas that are getting complicated. I think [Redacted]'s idea is probably as complicated as we should make it... At least to begin with. If we IC make it more complicated, that should be fine, because it means we will generally be okay with it.
  3. Oh, I didn't realize we were allowed to intentionally use info from outside the game. idk. So in the response you got, it sounded like someone was working on reading WoT? I am going to keep my vote on BR at the moment as she has been casting suspicion towards me basically all game, and this in addition to that would make sense to me... But I will be thinking more on this. EDIT: On another note, there are 4 players who haven't been on the shard at all over the past 24 hours, but that doesn't really mean anything as N3 was extended...
  4. Yep, that is what we are trying to do. It was discussed earlier that we shouldn't make any more rules than we absolutely must for the moment, as that should be done IC. Currenlt what is being discussed is purely how the system could work. Personally, I see no advantage to trying to do this part IC. Trying to figure out whether or not, or who should worry about taxes are relevent I think. As long as we aren't getting into the details yet. 1 thing at a time. Yes. I understand you don't need the gov as there are alternatives. I don't either, as I do understand there are alternatives. I personally love politics, which is why I am so adamant about the idea. Not as a replacement to alternative, but in addition to them.
  5. lol, do we want to try and jump-start that as well, or should we focus on one major change at a time? lol EDIT: In my head, this gov was always IC. It might be able to work OOC purely because each RPer is counted as 1 person for everything to do with this... But IDK how this would work OOC... I personally would much prefer my Zinc compounder elected than my boring self. We haven't really started talking about regulations yet, but if you want to start that, I don't see why not. : )
  6. It also provides a new system for RPing "wars" in peacefully. My character for instance who can't fight, now can, just in a different way. It is something that goes well with guild reform, because if guilds have agendas (even if they are just to become a Great Guild), this gives them a system to further their agendas, again encouraging more active guilds, with more people dedicated to each one. And encourages recruiting new homeless. And then it also provides the RP opportunities for individuals like what Woodrack said. And on another note, it allows for tweaking in game rules... in game... (potentially like defining a Great Guild). This means we won't need to do quite so much OOC planning like this for rules. Don't get me wrong, a lot will still happen, but I think some of that will become in-game discussion. Who would have thought that rules (other than me) were fun! I think this specifically something that is going to need to be discussed a bit more... For instance, is there a currency in the ally-verse? I personally haven't seen one. If not, that would make grants and taxes and so on kind of pointless. It could be a tax on resources, or a grant of, say, a military... however that would also need to be discussed a lot more first I think. Do you think you may be able to type of how your proposal works, and then we can edit in what they would be doing later, or are those two linked in your system?
  7. @randuir Ok, well faking time zones within an America is pretty straight forward, though if you look at my posting habits throughout this game, you will see that I have been on here pretty late for a EST person. (granted, I have been on way too late for a PST person too, so this really doesn't mean anything...). As they are an elim, being inactive the first 1.5 cycles I don't think means anything, or perhaps even could mean they are mildly active during that time, as during that time they were probably strategizing (ugh, spelling!) primarily with the elims. This eliminates STINK, Sart/Gancho, Karn from being in that doc. (granted STINK was basically already cleared from that). If you genuinely think the reference went over their head, that would clear Aman, Rath, Karn (again), Mark, HH, and MrDoctor. That leaves the possibilities to be: Steeldancer, Cadmium Compounder, Droughtbringer, Young Bard, Furamirionind, and BrightnessRadiant I am going to post this now so people see it, but I will continue editing things in unless someone posts after me. @randuir: Sart, BrightnessRadiant
  8. Well, big surprise. How do you know they just started reading Eye of the World? Who copied the declaration of independence into the doc?
  9. Yeah... I started it, but I am still only halfway through. I was struggling with it, so finished Skyward first. I am going to start trying to read it again starting this weekend, though I may start over... Why?
  10. I don't have any significant suspicions, but I do have some minor ones of Guacless (itiah I think?) and CadCom. The Guacless suspicion is just a gut read I suppose, but in a game with only 1 elim Cycle 1, I don't know if I really want to trust my gut if it has anything to do with that cycle... I am going to vote CadCom for now, as they are just leaning towards the fact that the elim did convert. I try to always assume the elim is doing... elim things, and being "so-so" on this topic sounds weird to me. (this might count as a gut read too in a sense, but as it is from C2 rather than C1, I feel slightly better about it.) But really I am not convinced on CadCom either. For now: CadCom/Ookla the Duck
  11. My understanding currently is that: 1. Each great guild gets 1 rep in the great guild branch of the gov. 2. There are limited spots in the gov for minor guilds, so they will probably still have to campaign and run for office. (They will be elected to the minor guild branch) 3. Redacted's idea is that after all the seats of gov are solidified (except Chancellor), the minor guild reps vote for which great guild rep to promote to chancellor. Nothing has been 100% solidified yet (partly as I assume this all will have to be run by Voidus/Archer before it can be considered solidified.). However I think in general the brainstorming has been decently successful so far. (Actually I think the idea that we want guilds, not individuals to have votes seems pretty solidified.)
  12. I am also for lynching BR and Drought. But before I change my vote, I am going to do some role analysis (not publically, obviously) as I think we really want to hit a specific elim this turn, not just any elim.
  13. I like the restriction as it forces people to think about their vote (though many probably still wont). However this will have a tenancy to give lots of power to the great guilds as they will have more people, who can all just decide to for for the same person/people. That is why the idea of the guilds voting has been so prominant. It puts them all on a much more even footing.
  14. Oh, I just remembered why I had the votes be unanimous for what I posted earlier. For the first iteration of this gov, I would expect 3-4 great guilds, and I was considering saying we should have 4 (starting) minor guild spots. It just seems pretty easy to convince so few people to vote for an idea... though I think what Palindrome is going to post will probably fix that. : ) Also, one last question about elections for now... let me just copy thin in from my notes... : Should the Chancellors election be an internal election among the gov officials, be the rep with the most votes, or be a completely separate election all together? Idk
  15. My initial idea (2 days ago) was that the chancellors should be the one drafting laws, but I think that only works in a super small gov... it was 3 people when I suggested that. Lol. I think giving tie breaks is good, veto can be good, though if you get a bad chancellor who vetos everything? I am not sure if veto power works when the majority of players probably don't understand irl politics all that well (myself included) I like both houses voting on important laws, and I also like the houses having differant spheres of influence.
  16. I can try to comment on this when I am less tired, and j now understand you were talking specifically about this type of law, which is definitely something that can be talked about now... however I am also in Gov building mode, so I probably won't be much help at this exact second... looks good for a starting point at the very least! : ) ____________ ... I may or may not have gone to bed at 7am today, due to doing rol much brainstorming in a doc on my phone...
  17. I like your counter points and look forward to seeing your alternative idea. I also have a couple alternative ideas, which I will post when I am less tired (from literally having stayed up all night). This was just an idea I was having while typing it, and was trying to flush parts of it out while writing. One thing though, it doesn't make distinctions between what type of laws can be passed by which seat of gov because I see that as a detail, and I am trying to work from the big picture down. The one thing I don't want if for this to become a mini USA gov. I want this to be unique to some extent at least.
  18. Uhhhhh, I forgot Aginor was hardy... so basically, we hope there are only 3 elims and we lynch Balthamel. Yeah, I wouldn't count on any help coming from the fielders doc. *cough*but if the fielders want to give us cause to trust them *cough**cough*I encourage them to do so*cough*. Yeah, I am saying let the creeper do its worst. The creature will kill us first.
  19. That is an interesting idea, though I think that is more along the lines of a democracy where I was planning a republic as I personally am more fond of that idea. They could both work though... In this, laws would be voted on by the reps in the gov positions, with each person getting 1 vote. ------------------------------------------------------- Adding on to what Ookla the [redacted] sugested, I didnt catch part of your idea the first time reading it, but I really like it, however, I also kind of want there to be a Chancellor/President too... (though I am fine without one with your idea). (I am calling the great guild's side the Senate, and the minor guilds side the House, for ease of communication) If the House or Senate votes unanimously on a law, it passes automatically (can see some problems with this in the future, but they can probably be dealt with in-world). If they are short 1 vote of voting unanamously, there are 2 ways the law can still pass. Either the Chancellor can step in and fill that vote by themselves, or the other branch of government can vote on it. However, the second branch must vote unanimously to fill that single vote. If a law is short by 2 votes of being unanimous, then the Chancellor AND the other branch must agree to enact the law. (Again, the other branch must vote unanimously) I like the idea, but the biggest problem I see in it I think is that if you can't convince the chancellor or all of your branch to pass the law, it is basically dead... If we go along these lines of thinking, I think the chancellor should also be allowed to create laws, however they get to pick the side of gov that votes on it. I like this too, but I want some sort of repercussion to having the Chancellor's law fail... but I can't think of anything yet... Thoughts? (Hopefully it makes sense. Believe me, it isnt as complicated as I made it sound.)
  20. Umm... oops, I think I forgot to put the whole #4 in there... this is about what it should be: 4. Each guild gets 10 votes, plus an additional 2 votes for each person the census says they have in their guild. They can then use these votes to vote per position in gov. (An example would be let's say there are 4 gov positions being run for. the keepers have 16 votes because they have 3 members according to the census. They could then add 16 votes to 4 differant guilds to try to get them elected. They will first vote for themselves (16 points), the for the Diagram (16 points), then the Liebrary(16 points) and so on until they hit the maximum spots being run for.) ... sorry, does that make any sense? edit: this is... more functional than I originally thought it would be when starting the post, but I still don't like it much... edit: edit: in this model I am working on, each guild is only allowed a maximum of 1 rep in the gov. I don't think this is something we want to change though. Though I imagine in-world it would be discussed a bit...
  21. ...Thank you Gancho. Thank you... You have any ideas for the gov? These are my thoughts so far: (I haven't got past elections yet) Elections: 1. Each guild that wants to participate in the gov must conduct a census of how many RPers consider this to be their "primary" guild for the purpose of this. (Must have at least 2) 2. Guild picks one of the people who consider this to be their primary guild to be the guilds rep. 3. If the census dictates this is a great guild, the rep automatically gets a spot in the senate unoposed. If this is a minor guild, they have to compete between 4 spots. 4. Each guild gets 10 votes, plus an additional 2 votes for each person the census says they have in their guild. Naturally all of this could be changed in-world or OOC if we don't think it would work, however I really do not like #4 currently. There is no incentive to vote for a guild that is not your own. We could try STV (single transferable vote), but even then I still don't think it incentivizes voting for anyone other than yourself. (And I forget much of the details on how it works) And randomly breaking ties would be silly. There either needs to be something to bring in guilds that aren't running for office, or an incentive to vote for someone else... Either that or I am completely looking at this the wrong way, which I am starting to think more and more might be the case. (Oh and I am thinking 8 seats of gov may be a decent starting point? For math and logistics anyway?)
  22. Alright... I apperantly misremembered. In that case, this is the cycle we start to get in trouble. We NEED to lynch an elim this cycle. If we don't, I think the only way we will likely win is through a combination of RNG and the elims making mistakes. It is possible that the elims actually do have 4-5 players, and the reason they are killing semi-actives, is because they feel they have already won. And are trying to give us a pseudo-chance. I don't think that more likely than other possibilities, but just throwing that out there. The ideal situation as far as rings go is for Rand to kill Poxx today. We then let through enough damage to breach this ring, and we try to full out defend N4 so that Randuir IsRand (great name btw) has as little chance as possible of killing any village. Naturally though, some roles just can't afford to defend... so we hope only one of us dies that night. However, I don't think we will be able to hold the ring D5, which will hurt, because that means there probably will be 2 deaths N5. We can then get rid of the creature D6... but there will already be 2 new ones by then if we don't lynch Aginor today. On another note, was anyone roleblocked this past night? I think this is REALLY important. Was anyone redirected this past night? If you were redirected on ANY turn, please what turn you were redirected, and to whom. Edit: actually, since I don't think we will be able to hold ring 4 D5, Rand might as well Attack Randuir IsRand today, then let the creeper die on it's own attacking the ring
  23. Hmm, I hadn't considered that... I assume they are trying to make it so that the people in that doc are unable to attack creatures. That is an interesting strategy though, as there are other ways to kill creatures if I remember correctly. So killing people not in that doc might be a safer bet as you probably have a better chance of killing Moiraine or Green man... I had more to say on the topic... But I forgot it... Thats what happens when you stay up until 3am apperantly... An interesting issue with the anonymous doc message is that there is only one anonomous member left... So they and Randuir can edit the message (though Ark also could for this last one). However I am curious as to who wrote this one... I actually think that people revealing who they were in this doc may have been a bit of a misplay, as if Mat was to contact one of them, they could then share info publicly...
  24. Welcome to the Shard! Have an upvote! I beg to differ. You're just a "deeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeep" thinker. ; ) What Brandon books have you read/which is your favorite? If you had to pick 1 magic system you could have from all of his books, which would it be? Do you like roleplaying and/or games and/or Mafia and/or werewolf? Be careful when accepting baked goods, especially cookies from people. They are often spiked...
