Long Game 51: A Traitor in the Obligators
Furamirionind replied to Straw's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Though that is true, if a lot of people do role claim, something like half of them would be lying. The common claims I expect will be roleless or soother/rioter. And while many people may be telling the truth, many others won't be, and telling those groups apart will take time and analysis. In this respect, it could favor the village as, with more people, we are more likely to catch something or have more collective time to dedicate to analysis. I am just playing devils advocate. I understand your concerns and agree with them. But as I havent seen this attempted, it could work better than expected... That is why i'd be for it. (It also would differentiate this game from LG39... Or any other recent LG for that matter.) -
Mid-Range Game 32: The Blight Encroaches
Furamirionind replied to Fifth Scholar's topic in Sanderson Elimination
You forgot Ookla of the East/Hemalurgic Headshot, in that list. That being said, like CadCom pointed out, this conversation isnt moving much. We can't confirm if an elim removed a vote unless someone comes out and says they didnt defend, but got negated. I would be hesitant to this person coming out though, as it is probably someone with a role if this is the case. I want to point out again: this ring is HELPING the elims, PLEASE let's breach it this cycle. We probably want to transition to player instead of voting analysis.- 583 replies

Long Game 51: A Traitor in the Obligators
Furamirionind replied to Straw's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I would be willing to try that tactic, if for no other reason than I haven't seen it done during the past 20 games I skimmed. However, it will be more than just the seer who lies. The coinshot, lurcher and seeker probably all will. Also with factoring in possible inactive players, I am not sure how much info on the Seer we will truly be able to get. -
Long Game 51: A Traitor in the Obligators
Furamirionind replied to Straw's topic in Sanderson Elimination
There are differant types of plans, but if there is a plan that revolves around secrecy, then that plan would be best kept secret. The only plans that really work being shared publically are the ones that "checkmate" (reckoners definition) the Seer. I genuinely can't think of a plan that would be an example of this though. As for the relayer idea, I don't think it is a useless one now that it has been talked about, as long as the amount of relayers in a chain is variable. It could work, but only if the seeker contacts a villager first, as if something goes wrong, it would be relatively simple to trace it back to the seeker. -
Mid-Range Game 32: The Blight Encroaches
Furamirionind replied to Fifth Scholar's topic in Sanderson Elimination
To sleep or not to sleep, that is the question I answer said question with the words, "Not to Sleep" @Amanuensis This is the same ring as last turn. And it has the same health as it did last turn. So I don't think there was a sabotage. Anyone defending would have been protected from vote manipulation, though it is possible one of those is an elim manipulate. Idk how we could possibly identify it in *that* though... the one on me would probably make the most sense though, as "what would be the purpose of removing a single vote when there are 6 others on Metaterminal". With the suspicions on me, I could see someone removing a vote on me to make me look more suspicious for D4. I will 100% admit I didnt defend last night. I was hoping for ring 2 to fall, as I would much rather deal with ring three on a night turn rather than a day turn. (Reasoning found in my post N2 I think). I am starting to wonder if the elims are defending... and in so doing, driving up the damage, hoping that we will let it breach multiple rings at a time. I admit, this is something I haven't seriously considered before now, which seems to be a major oversight... Though I agree it would seem Bard is tunneling on BR, the fact that I am actively suppressing my gut read of her being an elim isnt helping. I still have a village lean on him. Now I would like to respond to MrDoctor's comments: I feel like distrusting a player because they seem analytical and yet are still alive is a good enough reason. But note that randuir has been more analytical and active than me (and, I think, is a more dangerous player to the Elims) and is also still alive. I'm not saying that randuir is suspicious, but I would say that I am in a similar boat to him. I find that killing a player with a lot of analysis and opinions is often dangerous, because people have a tendency to consider why someone was killed (see Snipexe's post about Devotary's death) and look at who they suspected. The best strategy, I believe, is to wait until the player has stopped talking about your teammates, and then kill them and hope that no one looks back at who they suspected a Cycle or two ago. You address most of my other points well, but I did state that there is an obvious advantage to keeping Randuir and myself alive as I was tunneling on him. You didnt have the protection Randuir did of... being suspected. And I still stand by, that your default language was suspicious. I probably would have taken my vote off you if it wasn't for that one line. Sorry CadCom, I didnt see your post last cycle, and forgot you are busy. I do appreciate you responding to that though.- 583 replies

Mid-Range Game 32: The Blight Encroaches
Furamirionind replied to Fifth Scholar's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Is this the point I vote on Drought again? xD. I am still leaning village on Karn. As a new player, bandwagoning on someone with some suspicion on them makes sense, and seems to fit my view of Karn as a, "ernest and hardworking, but inexperienced villager". I don't think I am explaining myself well, I will likely rephrase in the morning.- 583 replies

Mid-Range Game 32: The Blight Encroaches
Furamirionind replied to Fifth Scholar's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Thanks Fifth, I forgot about that... so basically all that tells us is a lot of people defended (which we could also tell from still being on ring 2), and even with that bandwagon, I am incredibly lucky I wasn't lynched. Lol.- 583 replies

Mid-Range Game 32: The Blight Encroaches

2 am for me, so I won't be posting much. However, 7 people voted on MetaTerminal, yet only 3 made it through? @Ookla the White-Cloaked just double checking that. If so, 13 people voted total, with just under half getting their vote negated... with there only being 1 vote negating role, 5 are from defending/sabotaging. Wow. This also does confirm that with moirainse circle dying, the health goes down. This was an assumtion I mentioned, but I do not believe it was explicitly asked. I was offline the entire second half of the last cycle, but that was quite a bandwagon on MetaTerminal. When i wake up, hopefully I will have more to say, but I also have a lot of work to do tomorrow for my last final... so I will be (hopefully) fairly inactive on here.- 583 replies

Secret Project Announced: Magic: The Gathering Novella
Furamirionind commented on Argent's article in Brandon and Book News
I doubt you will be lost. I don't read much of the MTG lore, but typically they are just meant to be stories to enhance the game (make it more 3 dimensional). Typically they try to keep things not too complicated so that new people can read it. In the interview, they even say that Brandon is creating a bunch of new charecters, so this may be easier than most MTG stories to read... Innistrad was the first set I played, brings back old memories... I can't wait! (Though we won't have to for long). Heres to hoping there will be some cool cards based on this... for the next innistrad set?! -

Furamirionind replied to Straw's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Wouldn't that just narrow down who the vote manips are for everyone (including the seer), while still running the same risk of people targeting the same person? If the seer can narrow down who the vote manips are, they will also gain info as to the roles of everyone else. We really don't want the seer getting a hold of the seeker or coin-shot. -

Long Game 51: A Traitor in the Obligators
Furamirionind replied to Straw's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I can't tell if it is being suggested that we let the vote manip decide who gets lynched, or if we still want a no lynch. Either way, I feel like deciding the desired outcome before the day ends is going to help make sure that we don't accidentally end up with a no lynch, or lynch, as I am doubting the vote manip roles will be communicating on who they will be voting. For the time being though, I like the idea as it could narrow down who the seer is. So I will vote on Xino, for the reason that they (for all intents and purposes) are the name below me. Quick question though, if the intent is to just find out if people can be manipulated, the only turn we can truly trust the results for, is this one. Just a random thought, as people can change alignments mid-game, every-time someone gains information, would it make sense (at least in the early game) to just tell 1-2 other people that info? The upside is that info is not lost if the person who gained it gets converted. However the down side is that the seer will learn much quicker who is what roles. On further thought, I don't think the trade off is worth it at all... I honestly find this game more confusing than MR32. lol. -

Mid-Range Game 32: The Blight Encroaches
Furamirionind replied to Fifth Scholar's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Umm... are you saying here you think it is more likely that I am a villager than Karn, as you didnt say you are putting me on your watchlist? Thinking about this, this could be more of a test on me, but as I d oknt know that, this still looks weird to me. "But a Villager would be doing this at least as much as an Elim, just for different reasons" - this line, if we were in person could tell us a lot, however as we are not, I don't know how seriously to take it. The thing that's is weird in this line, is you hold the elims up as the standard. What I would normally expect is, "But an elim would be doing this just as much as a villager, just for differant reasons". The sets up the first object as an unknown, with the second as a standard to compare the unknown to. "I wouldn't put it past Fura to be sneaky enough to make us all rely on them with that Ring analysis only to be playing us the whole time. But other than that possibility, everything else reads Village". - I have never played an SE game with you, in LG50 I didnt do particularly well, and in LG49 it was completely differant. What instinct is telling you that this all could be a con? And more importantly, if you think this could all be a con, why do you have me the most trustworthy of your list? I just started targeting you, and I read this as though it could be a pocket attempt to try to get me off your back. That's a rather specific thing to say, especially because it wouldn't be all that bad a tactic for denying the village useful information from your choice of kills Hmm... perhaps. However, when I said it I nearly tagged Elandera, as the reason I used those words is because we were talking earlier about dice, and a D20 is the DnD standard. Granted, i accept that was a poor reason to make that choice. Oh, I appreciate that. : P. Though I thought you made a fairly good rebuttal of what I said as well. You didnt address everything, nor could you. I probably would have voted for you if one of the active players died, however, I think the obvious choice to kill was Mr. Docter due to his absence yesturday. Karn had a chance of being lynched, and I was tunneling on you, so killing the three of us would probably be a bad idea. Mr. Doctor showed his skill in analysis is previous posts, and leaving those people alive, I have recently learned, is often dangerous. I don't think village!Mr. Doctor had a use for the elims, unless you are one and wish to hide behind him. But as Karn seems to trust you, you probably wouldn't need Mr Doctor. Mid-Range Game 32: The Blight Encroaches
Furamirionind replied to Fifth Scholar's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Xino's death is interesting. They always read as an elim from what I have heard, and from what I have seen, I have no reason to doubt this. They are a decent target for a mislynch, and do not drive the village to find elims. With Randuir, Mr Doctor, Karn, possibly BR, and myself still alive (the ones who to me seem to be driving discussion)... (I forgot where this sentance was going... Just came home from my first NFL game, and am pretty overwhelmed from a headache, stomachache, asthma, and exhaustion. Sorry, wrong place to complain : ) ) Anyway, I would assume the slums would want to target one of the above people. Karn obviously wont be attacked as there is a chance to lynch them. Mr. Doctor was quite N2, so assuming village, they may not have been thought of much. Randuir was targeted pretty heavily by me, so wasn't lynched. Perhaps I also wasn't killed because they hope I will press Randuir. Mr .Doctor I am not so sure about. They were quiet, but they still have done a lot of analysis the first 1.5 cycles... This would (I think) have been a good time to kill them. Therefore, some investigation of Mr. Doctor's post are, I think, in order. I will try to do that if someone doesnt beat me to it. Also, I would like to thank Lan for ther action last night. For the sake of reminding people there is a vote today, I will semi-poke Mr Doctor. Mr. Docter- 583 replies

Mid-Range Game 32: The Blight Encroaches
Furamirionind replied to Fifth Scholar's topic in Sanderson Elimination
This post concerns me a bit. - Rath: Your gut says village, but you don't think there is evidence for or against? (Not a big deal) - Mark: I don't understand the relevance of this statement. We all want to eliminate the elim's vote manip. This also doesn't give us any insight as to what you think about Mark, which is what you said you were going to do. - BR: You are not sure? Fair enough. However, I would appreciate reasons. You say "Not sure?", not "neutral", so I assume you are confused about something. Implying you have both reasons to think she is an elim, and to think she is a village. What are those reasons? -Karn: What aren't you taking chances about? Does this mean you are planning on voting for Karn's lynch next turn? The is a vague statement, that tells us, imo, even less than your "not sure?" that you had for BR. This is very strange. Edit: I understand this is your second post, and you wanted to post this cycle to keep your spot, that doesn't change how it reads though. Though in my head, I do provide context for these statements.- 583 replies

I Didnt mean that in a bad way, just that you are all a bunch of friends, and it is hard to butt in. Perhaps I should have done anyway, but my point was that if I feel this way, others are bound to as well. It was a while ago... the only guild I really remember is the Feruchemists... as that was my favorite. But they are inactive now. I really like the idea of only "counting" as a member of a primary guild, and trying to turn a smaller guild into a larger one. That encourages recruiting new homeless from the new player section, and would be really fulfilling to achieve.
