  1. "Sounds like an...... interesting employer." There was some disturbance happening behind her, but she ignored it. If it was really a danger people would be more alarmed.
  2. "I doubt you've made a good first impression on the owner." Valath said under her breath.
  3. "an annoyance," She muttered signing the paper as it was passed around the room. "Who's Kal?"
  4. Valath blinked. "I think signs with their names in prominent locations would please them, and of course they would sign their names on their works, a memorial with all those who helped would be good to set up in the center square." Valath stretched slightly. "If the meetings about to start in earnest, perhaps some tea is in order."
  5. "You have my support. Though it's not as simple as that.... My employees are artists working under me. I provide for their needs and they give me a percentage of their earnings. A good deal for both. I get their work and they get my name. I will convince them to work on this project but they will want some form of recognition for their efforts. Being an artist, especially in this city, requires name recognition." Valath eyed Mack. "But that's an easy problem to solve."
  6. Nothing seemed to be happening, so Sam took the opportunity to sit at Nael's table. "Never a dull moment." She grunted. "Here on a job? Or looking for a job?" She asked Nael. hoping he wouldn't run away this time.
  7. The Rhythm of War I like that! I still like The Rhythm of the Lost but would be fine with this
  8. "You have my support. That is why I'm here, but know this, the day you start caring more about stopping the government than you do about the people, will be a day you will regret." Valath said still in a quiet voice. "I believe in this cause and trust you now, but if you would entertain a final question? Why now? Why not a year ago or sooner? Why wait until after a government is formed?"
  9. Valath wasn't impressed with his gold trick. She was wearing a soulcaster after all. She groaned inside What have I gotten into? He had sidestepped all of her questions with ease. "There is always a price, whether that be in gold or lives." She whispered more to herself than anyone.
  10. "You don't know what I have done for the people of Allycity. I don't want your money. I want to know that this won't turn into another bloody war!" Valath's eyes grew hard. "I am not naïve. Everything comes with a cost. What's yours Mack? You intend to overthrow a government? You intend to fight the guilds! How will that help the people? Don't even try to take the moral high ground. I need to know that I'm not throwing everything I have into something that will destroy everything I love." Valath turned her eyes to the child. "I care more than you know. All of my employees came from poverty. I have hired only from those who needed the money most. I reached out a hand and placed them in the best part of the city provided them food, money, and shelter. They are my children and I won't let them get hurt."
  11. "What did you expect? We are people who despite the guilds, and the destruction, and the wars have built something! We built our own little kingdoms with money and hard work not good intentions. I second Dusk. Where is the profit? Where is the gain?" Valath smiled. "And I do care for the people in the city. I simply care for my people, those who work for me, more."
  12. Sam turned scanning the room for anyone that wasn't panicking. She had her knives out and was ready if things got ugly. She decided to slip closer to Nael. Only because he had a shardblade she assured herself.
  13. Amon leaned against a wall closing his eyes. "With the Union being so heavily tied to Newcago, which is heavily tied to the DA, the Guilds will be forced to do SOMETHING." He whispered. "A foreign power moving in and gaining the trust of the people? It will be seen as an attempt to undermine the government. Which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. The government hasn't done much for the people." @I think I am here.
  14. "Forgery you say?" Valath interjected. "I have some experience in that arena and can tell you that that is not a sustainable housing plan. If any of those stamps are damaged it could have catastrophic results for those inhabiting said buildings. It was a good plan for short term, but we should fix those buildings fast."
  15. "He went to Newcago alone? Without taking any bodyguards at all?" Amon asked as he walked into the room. "I swear that man's trust is going to get him killed one of these days!"
  16. "Glad that you like....." And he was gone. She watched him move to another table. Well, I blew it again. She thought with a sigh. "Hello, newcomers! My name's Jacien. What are yours?" A man asked suddenly. Sam jumped inwardly. Focus! She reprimanded herself, tearing her eyes away from Nael. "I'm Sam," she replied sticking out a hand.
  17. "Hi." She replied and then promptly looked past him smiling at Reylf. "You can call me Sam." She peeked at Nael from the corner of her eyes however.
  18. Sam marched to the bar taking the seat next to the new comer. "Impressive. Do you know how to use it?" She said with a giggle. "Bartender, some cheesecake would be great." She smiled at the new guy, "and some water for me too."
  19. Sam slipped into the tavern. She sulked to a table in the corner. Waiting and watching to see what was going on.
  20. Amon finished a notation in his notebook. The book contained detailed notes on the routines of the various Forge members. Not that Amon didn't trust them...... but secrets were his passion. Alask, Amon thought, Now that one's interesting. He often tried to keep up with Alask on his night adventures, but kept his distance. The things he had discovered about the man were often unnerving. But intriguing. The book he's been studying..... Perhaps it is some type of spren? not a variety that I know. Amon watched as a messenger ran up to the front door. With a sigh he got up so that he could get to a good eavesdropping spot. So much work.
  21. Valath stood behind Mack watching the court with interest. She had slipped up to the group while others were focused on the more flashy arrivals.
