  1. Not sure what you mean by that, but a mage should be able to make anything a trigger for his spell. Plot ideas? I was thinking we could have a plot centered on a person slowly ascending to godhood. Set up a crisis happening to her/his kingdom and have a hero with a group of friends rise to the occasion. If we go with that idea, I totally think @ZincAboutIt should have the character that's going to be a god by the end of the plot!
  2. Ink shouldn't disappear. So long as you have fuel.... The greater the range the more fuel you need. I imagine it should be a prohibitive amount for very large spells. Yes? Some of this stuff will be possible, but that doesn't mean they've figured it out or will figure it out within the next million years. Yes. but super difficult. Only a master can and probably only for simple spells. Yes. ^ ............. I don't know........ depends on if people believe you would perhaps? I think it would be possible, but also horrible for the mind. You would need fuel. That works for me. Both. I picture mages being able to decide what the trigger for each spell will be. Sometimes it would be convenient to just have to say a word and other times more convenient to touch a certain part of the spell.....
  3. That's what I was thinking on all of the magics as well.
  4. I like that idea. If everyone is ok with the above, which I think pulled a couple different ideas together nicely, then we're done with magic planning! Well, almost, how prevalent do we want the magic? Natural magic is everywhere but how much so? Is there magic people/animals/objects everywhere or are they uncommon? Ritual magic is well know to society or only performed in secret? Innates.... 1/10? 1/100? 1/100000000000?
  5. If it makes sense to you guys then I'm good with it. I'll need the concept explained more later. Do we even need fuel at this point? Natural magic isn't going to need it. The Innates just see the spirit realm..... not sure why they would need any. Ritual magic could still use it..... but that's not as big a deal anymore as it won't be relative to most combat/fast paced scenes. (As in, when were actually RPing, people will always have enough fuel for the rituals......)
  6. Wouldn't that make them blind with information overload? Everything is investiture...... I'm not sure how that would be helpful.
  7. I believe that's what we're saying. They would be able to see changes to people/things so if one started to get affected with Natural magic they would know.
  8. "Dammit." Sam growled to herself. "Why are my powers so weak! Are there two women in here with powers?" Sam shouted at the tavern in general. @Jaywalk
  9. "I mean we're talking...... So, could I have a salad?" She glanced at the man attacking people. So uncivilized. "Do you want me to attack him or let it play out?" @Jaywalk
  10. "Well," Sam said, striding to the bar, "can we still order food?" She asked trying to ignore the fight. @Jaywalk @Invocation
  11. "Why not?" She said, pulling her knives out from her sleeves.
  12. Works for me! But seriously, fuel? I don't care too much.... I just don't want to loose momentum.
  13. "It would be boring if it had," Sam grunted. She opened the door taking in the scene before her. "Ummm..... Wow. After you Nael."
  14. "Hmmm. Sounds good to me." Sam hummed into his ear while kicking the door open for their exit.
  15. Sam laughed. "Oh no you don't! You're taking me out on our first date and you're going to decide!"
  16. I sure hope so! I can only barely keep track of the discussion
  17. Sam took his arm, allowing him to lead her out. "Where are we going?" She asked, leaning her head on his shoulder.
  18. I imagine being able to see the spirit web of something as it changes would be useful. Maybe they would be able to better predict those sort of changes?
  19. Where we're at now.(?) Ritual. This one allows anyone with enough knowledge to make changes to the world around them through symbols that are written. People can only make changes within the same realm. What I mean by that, is that you can move physical atoms around the Physical Realm to form new molecules and move connections around the Spirit Realm to form new connections. You can not cross between the realms. You couldn't change an objects cognitive aspect to affect it's physical one, but you could move the atoms of the object around to change it in the Physical Realm. Innate. People who are born with the ability to see spirit webs and instinctively know what some parts of the web mean and what the correct symbols for those specific parts are. Natural. This one requires many people to have an noticeable affect. Natural magic is a result of the increased entanglement of the Cognitive Realm and the Physical Realm. It allows people to change the world around them through "group think". When enough people believe something, the world will change to match their beliefs. This allows for horrid monsters, nasty spirits and the occasional god to form. There are few/no restrictions on this system as there are few/no restrictions on the human imagination. Just to clarify, Ritual magic is still usable by everyone? Does everyone agree with this (brief) summary? If yes, then what's the fuel going to be? If no, then I suspect you'll tell me why
  20. (AHHHHHHH trying to keep up with pace of discussion is hard!) Are we saying that Innates have no special abilities beyond being able to see spirit webs? I like that idea! Keeps it from getting too cluttered with magic people.
  21. OK. So we're back to enchantments can do anything? I was picturing it being like splicing two spirits together. (Or just rip a string from some other spirit.) For example taking the spirit part of a plant that allows it to convert sunlight into useable energy. I could place that part of its soul on a piece of metal and boom! you have a solar panel..... (although now that I think about it they wouldn't have the necessary tech for that...... MAN I'm bad at picking examples......)
  22. OK. but what would it do? We keep talking about this but maybe we all have different ideas as to what we could do with enchantments.... I thought making something burn people on contact would be super simple but you obviously don't think it would be possible at all..... so, what can enchantments do?
  23. *facepalm* Although in a last attempt to keep some dignity..... Brass is actually under cognitive....... I lose All that aside..... What were you guys planning on using enchantment for?
  24. Have you read Mistborn? Not really a spoiler.... In mistborn we see that heat is an spiritual function. That's why brass (F-heat) is in the spirit section of the chart. (I think brass=heat? Can never keep the metals straight.... just what they do!)
