  1. I could easily see Kel being the "bad guy" for at least part of Era 3 depending on how Era 2 wraps up the whole Trell thing. If they don't manage to purge Trell's followers I could easily see Kelsier coming back from where ever he is to kill them all, which in turn prompts the main veiwpoint character to think he is some kind of mass murderer. I think for this to happen the main veiwpoint character will need to be a Survivorist as Harmony could simply tell a Pathian that Kelsier is the good guy. As a side note, I feel pretty strongly that Kelsier has a certain lonely Shard in his future, his ideals match it's Intent very well. I feel like the story behind the story in the Cosmere is getting rid of the problematic vessels for Shards like Odium and Autonomy and Kel works very well for the latter.
  2. I realized that my post made it sound like I didn’t really enjoy the earlier books. To clarify, I started the series in 2005 and reread it 3 times in it’s entirety for the subsequent releases. I’ve also reread all of the books in summary (basically just hitting the chapters from the viewpoints I prefer) dozens of times. That was before I discovered the Cosmere and became a zombie, but I still think it’s one of the best fantasy worlds I’ve read. edited for spelling
  3. It's like one of Brandon's Stormlight books if it was 14 books long. By that I mean that there is a ton of set up and world building (as well as pointed sniffs and page long descriptions of wardrobes) for 11 books & then the classic Brandon avalanche takes over for the last 3. I discovered Brandon by reading his installments in TWoT and frankly think the series is worth it just for the end.
  4. I imagine any excess Investiture would leek out as Mist. I know Wax and Marasi both had Mist coming out of them while they used The Bands..
  5. His brands are scar tissue. My question was whether or not someone could regrow something non biological like the ink in a tattoo.
  6. Anti-tank rifles were in use up until the Korean War. They were man portable & fired from the prone position. I feel fairly confident in their ability to penetrate chitin. What I meant by "just a shard blade" was that Kal was without powers and was basically just a guy with a really "sharp" sword. An important distinction in regards to the original question would be, are these Inquisitors pre or post TLR's death. Post death they would have had access to compounding (though they never seem to have used it in the books) which would make them hilariously powerful. Compounded steel and pewter would probably let them rip the things legs off bare handed before it even saw that they were there.
  7. I wonder how this topic would relate to a non invested body decoration. For an example, what happens if you cut off a bridgemans tattoo? Does he regrow clean skin, or does the tat come back as well?
  8. I actually think it would be plausible to regrow the spikes. If you had them for a long time then they would have become part of how you see yourself. Since healing seems to be centered on the spirit rather than biology it seems like remaking a non invested chunk of metal should be a piece of cake. Soulcasters do it all the time.
  9. There’s probably a thread that answers this question already, but I’ll ask anyway. If a person is Hemalurgically a Ferring for a few types of metals, let’s say gold and pewter, would removing the pewter spike prevent them from accessing their goldminds which had been filled prior to the pewter spikes removal? If they are still able to tap them, it implies that Hemalurgy does not change spiritual Identity and only changes Investiture levels. At the same time Hemalurgy has a myriad of secondary effects depending on the type of spike and where it is placed. These seem to manifest in both mental and physical ways, such as the creepers that Wax an Ten Soon encounter in The Pits or the bloodthirst that the Inquisitors feel and their unnaturally long lives. I don’t know how that relates to Identity specifically, but I imagine it’s something like putting a magnet in a pile of iron filings. While it’s there it dictates the shape of the pile. I suppose the spikes could also be passively increasing the spiked individuals Connection to Ruin, which would certainly explain the homicidal tendencies.
  10. It’s an interesting idea. I feel like from a story point of view it needs to be impossible. If it wasn’t you would end up with an army of Fullborn by the time we reach Mistborn: A Star Wars Story. An easy justification for in world mechanics could be that it is literally a foreign object in your spirit and therefore it will always feel like an intruder. You could also argue that it carries the spiritual Identity of the individual from whom it was made and is keyed to them like a metalmind. Maybe if you keep the spike for a long enough time you could regrow it when it is pulled out, but without the Investiture.
  11. Kal killed one with nothing but a Shard blade. Five inquisitors would probably reck one. TBH any normal non invested human could kill one with a decent firearm.
  12. It seems to me that color is a spiritual aspect like Feruchemical strength or speed. Would likely explain how it works as fuel and why Nightblood left permanent marks on Szeth and Lift, he damaged their spiritual Identities. I wonder what metal you would need to store it. Edit for my crappy grammar.
  13. The Lerasium alloys sound boring and his answer in that quote sounds like he hasn't made the Atium alloys up yet, just generic timey wimey stuff. Are their Feruchemical properties just as mundane? Now I'm worried about what the other Shard metals would alloy into. Autonomy's 16 alloys just make you lonely and too cool for friends. Odium's alloys make you hangry. Honor's alloys make you into a white knight on tumblr.
  14. Slightly off topic, but is there any WoB out there about what the 32 alloys you can make from Atium and Lerasium do? I've only ever even seen reference to them in the Ars Arcanum in BoM. On that same track, I wonder if Harmony's metal can be alloyed to make a 4th set of 16. Would be pretty out of control to have a Fullborn tapping and burning 48 metals. Edit: What about all of the other Shards metals as well? Are there secretly 256 metals out there for metalborn to use?
  15. By this logic you could just set yourself at a given level of an attribute indefinitely. If you have to tap a metalmind to get back to neutral then it stands to reason that you would need to store in order to get back to neutral. If this was the case you could just tap a pewtermind and be the Hulk forever. Your idea assumes that there isn't a passive drift towards the neutral of your spiritual aspects.
  16. As a Fullborn you can store a small amount of a Feruchemical trait and then burn the metalmind that you stored it in to tap that trait at a much higher value. To use an example from the books, Miles was able to store health in a gold metalmind and then burn it to gain a much larger amount of health that he then stored in a different metalmind. The idea is that the metal being burned adds its power to what ever Feruchemical aspect was stored in it. This creates a sort of infinity loop of storing and burning that would allow you to never run out.
  17. Don’t Inquisitors have unnaturally long lives due to them being Hemalurgic constructs? My understanding was that the Inquisitors did not have any Compounded metallic abilities until after Rashek’s death, but that they still lived for a very long time. I’ll have to reread the Inquisitor PoV from FE again. Edit: I found it. Marsh tells Kelsier that they’re extremely long lived in chapter 27.
  18. Double Nicrosil. You could compound unkeyed metalminds from other metalborn and make yourself fullborn in effect. This seems like a hack though so who knows if it would work. If we are talking combat. F-Steel and A-Atium would be fairly potent. I like the idea of a Nicrosil twinborn walking around with an aluminum pill case full of different types of Nicrosilminds in bead form. A pill for every occasion and then there would be the special compartment with the “Doomsday” fullborn pill.
  19. My thought as well.
  20. And it only cost him his life. My point with mentioning bronze was that they wouldn’t need to sleep. As for getting bored, you could just compound electrum to keep your determination up and watch reruns in your copperminds to keep you sane.
  21. I wonder if Brandon is setting Kel up to take Autonomy. The self reliant nature of the Shard feels like it matches Kel pretty well. Lone wolf who’s only charge to his followers is “Survive”. I think Brandon has said in the past that Shards could have a slightly different name if they had a different vessel. Maybe once the Scadrians kill Autonomy Kelsier will claim the Shard & give it his own little personal touch.
  22. I think a fullborn could probably avoid the attack or simply kill the Elantrian before they finished drawing the Aon. Compounded zinc and steel would let you live in a world where everything moves in slow motion. You wouldn’t even be able to kill them in their sleep because they are compounding bronze which would likely also allow them to feel the Aon the second the Elantrians fingers stabbed the air.
  23. Yes. In the scene right after he fixes Elantris.
  24. Honestly I can’t see any resonable method of killing a fullborn. The pewter, steel and gold compounding they are effectively a combo of the Hulk, Flash and Wolverine. The idea that you could ever get the drop in one is completely laughable. They could live in a constant state of compounded zinc and steel. The rest of the world would move around them like they were in a speed bubble. Throw in the fact that they can compound Nicrosil to temorarlily change their level of Investiture, and they can almost ascend for short periods of time. All things considered a well prepared fullborn is probably only slightly less dangerous than Nightblood. to address the original topic of the thread, I imagine that complete disintegration would work quite well against double gold. I think that Elantrians can disintegrate someone. I’d have to reread the chapter, but I’m pretty sure Raoden kills one of the monks that way. The surges of destruction and transformation would probably be pretty effective as well. You could turn them to ash or crystal instantly, though given that gold healing is spiritual rather than biological, they might still be able to heal from it. I suppose you could also just soulcast the air around them into something solid and then just leave them in there. You could let Nightblood eat them obviously.
  25. I guess I could have explained myself better. I didn’t mean spiking the actual BioChroma, but rather the effects of having breath. For example. Let’s say you spike someone who is of the 5th heightening. Could you take their immortality? Their breath would obviously be lost because you killed them with a spike to the heart, but near as I can tell the effects of holding breath don’t actually come from the breath. The breath isn’t fuel. It’s more like a key. While you have it, your spirit has access to new abilities. And since Hemalurgic spikes tear off a piece of your victims soul, it may be possible to steal things like perfect pitch or immortality. Another thought. Could you spike the royal locks out of someone like Siri or Vivenna? I’m sure there’s some glaring hole in my theory here, but it’s a fun thought experiment. Also, sorry that this isn’t really on topic.
