Who is your favorite radiant
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Rashek of Bridge Four's topic in Stormlight Archive
Not going to debate my likes/dislikes. Kaladin isn’t a real person, he’s a character in a book. -
Am I the only one confused by this? Sarene plays dumb with him at first so that she can manipulate him. Later she pretty much tramples him into the ground and eventually gets him killed over his midnight murder cult. I don't see how you can put Elend's teenage angsty petulance and Raoden's resistance in the same boat. Elend was being a child. Raoden was forming a resistance against his father's twisted and broken government that was slowly destroying their nation and the lives of the people in it.

Wasn't this a writing error? I'm in the Jasnah has her armor camp. That being said, we've also seen plate in Dalinar's visions. I think we've even seen Dalinar summon plate in the visions. In the one that he pulled Venli into he jumps down to help her and his hand is surrounded by something that protects it from the stones. Nale would obviously also have plate as would a number of his Skybreakers (assuming some of them have sworn the 4th). As for when she got it? I think that smug line to Shallan indicates that she has had it for some time, but that's only an opinion.

They'd probably be more like this. The link goes to youtube. I didn't see anything in the rules about linking to external sites, but if I'm not supposed to please feel free to hide my post admins. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcxKIJTb3Hg

Dalinar and Jasnah. Dalinar because he's an all around bad chull. Jasnah because she is too. Can't stand Kaladin. Every scene is a pity party for him. The worst part is he doesn't even have the most tormented back story. Dalinar killed his wife and butchered countless innocents. Now he has to live with it. Shallan murdered both of her parents, one in self defense the other basically in cold blood. She's also struggling with DID apparently brought on by said murder spree. Kaladin's brother died and now he's a demigod. Poor poor him. It's also worth pointing out that pretty much every viewpoint character has lost someone from their nuclear family and none of them act like Kal. -
Will Nightblood become Adonalsium?

Their power does. So yes? Otherwise what's powering the Dor? -
Hemalurgic Table and Roshar
SwordNimiForPresident replied to jamesgrey's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The Inquisitors spiked a bunch of people while under Ruin's control, so maybe Odium's intent is enough to allow one of his minions to spike someone. Granted, Ruin was directly controlling the Inquisitor's not just influencing them. -
Hemalurgic Table and Roshar
SwordNimiForPresident replied to jamesgrey's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I believe it is widely speculated that each Shards metal would have its own unique Hemalurgic properties. As an example, the spike that Paalm used in Era 2 wasn't from Ruin/Preservation/Harmony, and is therefor likely from an off world Shard. It seems plausible to me that the golden metal that the dagger was made of is Odium's metal. -
She also soulcast Shallan’s blood to save her from poison. It probably comes down to intent like many things in the Cosmere.

Has anyone asked him how the center of a world's Cognitive reflection is determined? I'm assuming they are disk shaped. I wonder if they are centered on Perpendicularities or if the center is determined by collective thought. For example if a large enough number of people think that a particular city is the "center" of the world, does that make it the center in the CR? If it's based on Perpendicularities, what if there's more than one on a world? Does it take the median of both?

Will Nightblood become Adonalsium?

Those Shards still exist. Odium killed vessels and scattered their power so that it couldn’t be picked up easily. This was my point. If his goal is to prevent anyone else from taking the power, destroying it would be the most logical thing to do. Since he didn’t do that, it’s safe to assume that he can’t. -

I don't know if Vasher using Stormlight counts, but Vasher using Stormlight. Kaladin uses an Elantrian orb while they're in Shadesmar. Kelsier uses the Connection that he stole from the Ire. What ever Renarin is doing is probably a combo. Paalm's spike is presumably from another Shard. Standard worldhopper answers: Khriss, Ghostbloods, 17th Shard, ect. -
Will Nightblood become Adonalsium?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to beantheboy12's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I’ll nit pick the WoB then. Consume is another way of saying eat. When we eat things they don’t stop existing, they turn into something else. I’ll point again to my heat/cold death comment from earlier as well. If Nightblood was somehow able to eat a Shard, it would likely take billions or trillions of years and so wouldn’t really have much bearing on the story. -
Graceful: one of the best duelists in the world. Refined: likes fashion and wine houses. Articulate: I can’t remember him breaking into any ignorant accents at any point. Is there any reason to believe the proper diction wasn’t part of his schooling as the nephew of the king of the largest nation on Roshar? Sure, use the one crude thing that he said, taken completely out of context, and try to use it as a counterpoint.

Will Nightblood become Adonalsium?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to beantheboy12's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think this is a bit like worrying about the personal impact that the heat/cold death of the universe will have on the people reading this thread. That is to say, none at all. -
From WoR Epigraphs. "When Simol was informed of the arrival of the Edgedancers, a concealed consternation and terror, as is common in such cases, fell upon him; although they were not the most demanding of orders, their graceful, limber movements hid a deadliness that was, by this time, quite renowned; also, they were the most articulate and refined of the Radiants." I think Adolin checks the boxes for what we know about Edgedancers. I like that Lift is basically the antithesis of this too, nothing like subverting expectation.

Not sure where the contradiction is. Odium can’t destroy Shards, therefore Nightblood can’t. Sry if my point got mixed up. -

Nighblood is powered by one of the Shards. Why would he be more powerful than they are? As evidence, Odium hasn’t destroyed any of the Shards that he has defeated. Given his goal of being the most powerful being in the Cosmere I feel like that would have been his go to rather than shattering them and leaving a small chance of someone else taking them up. -
What Surge or Order is over water?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to NextStep's topic in Stormlight Archive
Gravitation: make water fly. Division: make water burn. Abrasion: make water slippery.. er. Progression: make aquatic plants grow. Illumination: probably a lot here since illumination seems to control vibration and frequency. Transformation: make water other stuff. Transportation: make water into obsidian. Tension: walk on water maybe? (I’m thinking surface tension manipulation) Adhesion: make water balls. Fun combos: Gravity and Abrasion should let you move through water at supersonic speeds. Aquaman! Gravity and Adhesion should let you launch giant water balls. Probably tons of other fun stuff I haven’t thought of. -
You can’t put non magic characters in combat situations in these types of books. The two that you noted were purely political. Another good example is Dox, and we know how being in a fight worked out for him. If Adolin is going to be involved in fights in the future, he will need access to some form of magic. Any other scenario ends with him dead imo.

They brought horses to Roshar & now have the Ryshadium. I see no reason it couldn't be Nahel Bonded Bunnies, Hemalurgic Beavers, or Pigs with the 5th Heightening.

The dangers of aluminum bullets
SwordNimiForPresident replied to LiquidBlue's topic in Cosmere Discussion
You might be right about the heavier jacket penetrating farther than the aluminum core. You could instead use a full auto flechette gun. Go for quantity over quality since you only need one to hit the right spot.
